- Today on JD Cars we’ll finally be retrofitting the F80 paddles to my new M-Sport steering wheel (thanks Matthew)! This process may seem overwhelming at first, and it is definitely a lengthy process, but if you take your time it really isn’t too difficult! Yes, to convert any non-paddle wheel to paddles, you will have to drill

You will need the wiring regardless of which paddle shifters you use

i have a question Jd so what if my car already had paddle shifters but i buy a m sport steering will that doesnt have paddle shifters but i want to install them do i still need the wiring harnest or am i good cause my car is already coded for paddle shifters ?

I have retrofitted the shift paddles on a f10 and they are not working. The - paddle is upshifting and the + paddle is downshifting. So it automatically puts the car in m8. Could you help me with this? Could it be a wire problem? Thanks
Renato, it sounds like you have the paddle shifters wired backwards. Switching the two connectors inside the steering wheel should resolve this. Good luck!

I honestly don't understand the crap people get for adding M stuff to their regular BMW. They are upgrades... They are upgrades you can have right from the dealer when you buy your car. And if you want to make your regular BMW look like an M what not? The only flack I would give someone is if they completely change everything and put M badges and take off their gem and lie about it being a real M.. There are M cars which are great, then there are M equipped cars which is like XLT trim on a ford truck ... Putting M door sills, M wheels and steering wheel, M rear wing, M shifter.... And even M badges added just means you support the Motorsport upgrades from BMW in my opinion. Who cares! Make your car look how you want it. Just don't lie to someone when they ask if its a real M

Just removed the positive terminal to remove my steering wheel.
Closed the boot and now I can't get into the back of my 4 series to connect it back up again.
DO NOT DO THIS!!!
Hint: If you do do this, put your rear seats down so you can get into the boot to connect the battery back up again.

Another helpful tip: tie a microfiber cloth around your trunk latch to prevent the trunk from latching while completing your install.
Less talk more do. You don't get to showing anything till 3 minutes in.
