One thing that BMW owners should know, cooling system plumbing is plastic as opposed to metal like in the past. Chances are the heat causes these plastic parts crystallize and develop very small cracks that cause the coolant to evaporate slowly. Therefore no leaks would be detected from a slowly evaporating substance. If possible, replace all platsic plumbing with high quality generic or OEM metal parts.
If you want a raw driving experience the M3/M4 is what you are looking for. F3x is a much softer family car in comparison. I went from F36 to an F82. I picked up a 2018 340i X-drive with a 6-speed about a month ago. Bought it with about 42k miles. White on black, m sport, Harmon kardon, black leather. It was one of 4 or 5 in the entire country. One of two with less than 50k miles.
I did the AGA parking brake retainer. It is an aluminium replacement that will never fail again. I am also getting random coolant loss. There are no signs of leakage anywhere.

Definitely agree with the upgrades. Stage 1 tune is pretty good. Don’t need to kill the engine with too much power. Definitely don’t think the car comes with 320 HP. It’s closer to 340 HP stock
320 is the number advertised by BMW but they are known for underrating their engines. When we dyno tested mine stock, it was around 300 HP. Could have been a variance in the actual dyno though.
I loved my 2012 f10, it was my first bmw, a 528i with the n20. It was nicely packaged and when I bought it with 40k miles with one previous owner all maintained at bmw service center for $17k (bought in 2018, sticker price was $58k) it seemed like a steal. I babied it, oil change every 5k miles, really didn’t push it hard since I knew n20 wasnt that strong for a big heavy 5 series, I loved the smooth ride and luxury. Literally not a single issue for 3 years. Except one evening driving home, out of nowhere the dreaded “power train” warning “reduced power”. I made it home, turned the engine off, waited 10 mins to power back on and my engine was shot, blown. You nailed it in your video, the timing chain being in the back of the engine and the guide made of plastic basically disintegrated, totaling my engine. $14k for a brand new engine, I didn’t even have 70k miles! Little did I know there’s a class action lawsuit bmw lost (kind of, all depends on your mileage and year of the car). I was lucky since I had low miles bmw ended of covering 80% of the cost. I got it fixed and then covid hit. Ended up selling it to carvana for $17.5k and got Lexus GS 350 F sport. I love my Lexus but not going to lie, I really miss my bmw. It’s a shame they use sooooo my plastic for critical parts of the engine that with my experience any bmw over 80k miles is such a risk. I love the brand, I love how every time I got in that car I enjoyed driving it, im just at the point I’ll take reliability over anything. Great video by the way. I still love watching your content even though I’ll probably never go back to BMW

I did the AGA parking brake retainer. It is an aluminium replacement that will never fail again. I am also getting random coolant loss. There are no signs of leakage anywhere.
A friend of mine told me about those right after I replaced mine. When this one breaks, I’ll go aluminum for sure
B46 F31 owner here, previously owned a F30 328i, so I got a taste of both. Too bad they don't offer F31 340i in the States, a tuner wagon will be badass. See u at Kies auto show next year?
I’ll be there!
@@justinbuice I have the 2017 with track package. I have kids so definitely not in the market for upgrades
All n20s blow up
I have the same car you had. I’m scared about my timing chain.. in the past 2 weeks have changed battery, radiator and tensioner.
@@jesuitscholar2022 You need to change the timing chain before it changes your engine. No, seriously. I had this motor (N20/26) same thing. Just barely caught it. I have an n55 now. F10.
@@iAlwaysSpeakTheTruth we’re in the same f10 group on Facebook. timing chain will be replaced soon.
BMW 4 cylinders have never been very reliable sadly but the new B48 is pretty good I think
I drive a lowered single cab ram and recently my cousin let me borrow his x5 with the n55 in it for a couple days and now I want a bmw 😂 thinking of a 340i
I just bought a 2023 M340i xdrive…nice review!
The steering rack, stiffened chassis, coupe front end, and upgraded suspension are more than enough to skip the F30 and go F80.
Definitely looking into the 340i version over the F30 335i. Thanks for the useful insight!
Glad I could help! The 340i is the one to get 😁
The editing in your video is clean. It looks so good. Love your channel man.
Thank you!
Well made video! The 340i is a crazy value
Thanks!
Great video once again Justin 👍🏽
FYI you can use 89 octane. Look under your gas cap.
Love your videos dude. Just got an amazing deal on a 228i convertible. Now my son wants your 340i ha!! Thanks for all the info
Don’t really like the new BMW look, but this BMW looks so sleek. It’s not overly aggressive and exaggerated. The proportions are elegant.
My dream car is a Camaro 2SS but BMW has some really cheap and alluring options. I'd definitely go for one if my plans for a Camaro fall through
I love my M140i. Same sort of mods on mine.
I had a modded m240. Personally the 340 just doesn’t give that same drivers experience over a m3 or even a coupe with b58
Great entry platform
On the best looking f30s I've seen
Nice vid! I've got an F87 M2 (N55) with a PS2 turbo and it's fun but love
the B58 engine in the wife's X3 m40i 👌
Great video, I’ve owned an F80 for 8 months now
M3 isn’t just about straight line speed. 340 will never compare
As a supra owner I’m glad to hear the b58 is reliable
No way Toyota would have used it if not😂
Can’t afford a 340 got a 328i love it
Your car is so clean
im sorry but the production and quality of this video is really good!!!
thank you!
Am from Trinidad and Tobago i really love BMW saving money to buy one 🎉
Love your channel man! I'm a relatively new owner of a 2017 230i xDrive and totally love it. I've gotten 40+mpg highway, amazing city car (I live in Cleveland), the AWD is really nice to have. Considering a boost to get closer to 300hp... 🤔
One thing I saw in your other vid that I wish I had known earlier - ditch the runflats. I've had to change 4 of them in 2 years from hitting potholes and that cost has really hurt. I'll switch next opportunity. 🙏🏼
You videos always make want to be a bimmer owner again. If everything goes well I’m gonna get a brand new M4 Competition 😁
my dream car right there. if you end up getting it, enjoy it! good luck!
In my country, people say that a BMW car is a 100 euro car. That's because no matter what goes wrong with it, the repair never costs less than 100 euros!
As much as I loved my 340i. It does not compare to my m3. But it is an amazing car.
If you've driven both the M3 is in another league to the B58
Great video, informative and good footage/ format as well as edit. F30 are a lot of car for the money for under 30k. Looks really good too, best of modern bmws imo
Although i wouldn't pick a 340 over an M3, they're very capable vehicles especially with the B58.
M3/M4 for me, well I own an M4! 340i is cool though.
not me driving my 6 speed 340i zhp to work while listening to the video, great video justin!
Thanks!!
zhp and 6 speed that’s something to be proud of
@@gabe_is300 i enjoy this car a lot, alpine white with red interior. The spec i wanted (:
@@zarrcastic_ Hot damn! ZHP package + 6 speed thats a wonderful combination!
Incredible video! Keep it up man. We love to see it.
Thanks!
Love...Love...LOVE by B58. So much potential, so rock solid.....and lets be honest, it sounds better than the S55 or S58.
I couldn't afford anything quite so powerful right now so I got the 320d f30 and honestly love the car. I did come from an astra H though lol
Shots are great, reminds me of Gran Turismo
thank you!
Did this madman just say he changes his oil 2 times a year? that's his daily? living life on the edge.
Brilliant Justin, Just Brilliant from an English Guy too!!👍
Thank you! I appreciate that!
Already have one, thanks! All it needs is a manual transmission!
I agree with the thumbnail. Unless you track the car often a 340i/440i with some upgrades will be moreeee than enough fun for average person. B58 is a properly solid engine. Prior to having one i thought nah these guys are all boosting the potential but no. Its thats solid👌👌
Love the style and orientation of your video
thank you!
