    Very nice plate Tomislav, I like how you hide the dovetail with a bead. 🕶

    That's excellent! I made plates for a Medieval Re-enactment client and thought they were OK until I see yours! I picked up a few good tips here. Thank you.
    Best Wishes, Brendan.

    Your video makes me want to turn a plate. I am guessing you are using 5" Record Power jaws?

    Tomislav, that plate is a winner, client should love it. I like what you do to try to hide the recess including the design feature in the center of the recess. Does that new gouge have a 40/40 grind? Good Luck with the client!

      Thank you Rich...I hope so too that they like it...
      Its asymetric grind from Richard Raffan, it could looks similar on video like 40/40 grind

    Spectacular plate, Tom! I’m doing a dinner plate and platter demo for our local club in June. I really like some of the base, foot and recess details you’ve implemented. When you processed that cherry did you try to get your plate stock from mostly quartersawn grain?

      Thank you Scott, glad you liked it ☺️ unfourtually I have not, it wasnt that big log, this is flat sawn section, not the best but its what I got...other then Oaks,its kinda hard to get big enough logs for platters so I work around warping 🤗 best of luck on your demo.... I wish we have something like that in Croatia.....

    Hi Tomislav, how does the new gouge treat you? Do you notice it holds its sharpness for a lot longer?
    Another question: you always touch the wood while it's still spinning, have you ever gotten a splinter? 😅
    Nice plate by the way 🤗

    • @tomislavtomasicwoodturning
      @tomislavtomasicwoodturning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gouge is working great, I did have to drill the hole in handle deeper to put the gouge deeper in , but that is personal preference. Other then that gouge is working fine😉
      Splinters, not really,if the wood is cut clean you really can't get splinters😉

      @@tomislavtomasicwoodturning Thanks for you answer 🤗 I'm always a bit hesitant to touch the turning wood 😅
      Have you already shown how you sharpen your bowl gouge? The grind looks interesting but until now I only grind with Tormek 😅

    Great looking plate, I really like the simple design. What is the finish that you used for that?
