So this piece of English Oak has been outside for a while now... I'm sure you could tell. I was never 100% sure of what I wanted to do with it, but the idea came to mind when I started turning. I didn't want to waste the angled part at the top so decided to make it a feature.
The bread bin has been sanded to 10000 grit and finished with Danish oil and Wood wax.
The main body is English oak, the lid is Sapele, and the handle is African blackwood.
Let me know what you think!
I am now sponsored by Axminster! They haven't paid me to say anything, but in all honesty they do make absolutely fabulous tools and machinery. Head to the link below to shop on their website. www.tagserve.com/clickServlet...

My videos are for entertainment purposes only. I am still relatively new to woodturning and some of my techniques might not be the "best" or safest. When using any tools or machinery always read and understand safety/manufacturers guidelines.
Yes, I'm aware that wearing gloves while woodturning is considered an unsafe practise. The gloves I wear are tight fitting and don’t have any loose threads. I wear them for the protection of my skin. This is a risk that I am willing to take, however I am still very conscious of the potential danger and I do not touch any spinning parts of the lathe. DO NOT do anything you don’t feel comfortable doing.

I was thinking the same thing. I had no idea that was going to be a lid. This guy is an absolute master. I’ve always wanted to try wood turning. The lathe is just so intimidating. But I guess it’s just like any other tool, it just takes practice and time to get good and comfortable with it.

Fantastic bread bin Harry. The angled top really adds a nice touch as does the blackwood handle.
I love Axminster's tools. I have always had great advice and service from them and my local branch as well.

@@HarrySmithShorts I've seen so many video's and project Harry, and some show how it's done, some don't. I have respect for special results as yours, and with in a lesson for all of us. That doesn't mean you can copy it! It's hard work and many, many hours before you even can think you can even try to make something like that. Just my five cents.
But I've seen just a few plates, is that strange? Easy to produce? But you asked any ideas: what about a ball? I saw just once somebody who made from every type of wood he used a round ball, his collection. He had more than 90 of them, but I have no idea how he made them. Just an idea that popped up, but perhaps it's a new project for you? Succes!
