I like curtain sash weight cord, cut to length, melt the ends to seal, hook on to a clip swivel, use. Also being "rope" (same size as 5/50 paracord) and supple, it snakes over and around stuff on the bottom. I use them to fish floating stickbaits on the bottom, i cast down and across current and let the flow swing it across as i wind SLOWLY!!! Good way to catch out smart kings who have "seen everything".
Wow! Thanks for the great tip, I have about like 15-20 1/4" steel Rods, about 8' L? I got a while ago doing some construction work, cutting them up now for drag sticks. I bought some 1/4" id clear vinyl tubing, perfect fit. Thanks for always being there for us, love too you and the family.
Yep still LMAO at number 2 and the other is the daughter catching you in the pool doing dragging weight by far this is my favorite channel you always make people laugh their ass off and nice to see your ok after a month catch you next time
I made my own by using 1/8th ounce worm sinkers strung on a piece of 50lb mono and they work great. cost next to nothing if you buy cheap sinkers from walmart. then I add a couple beads and a swivel
Speed/current will affect the buoyancy and how they ride in the water also. Just remindin’! Awesum vid as always. I’ve mortified a few of your diy’s. Some good some not so.
Awesome video 👍🎣, I use 3 to 5gr slinky Dragon weights for trout fishing 😃. It's excellent for going through, log gammes & fallen trees. Combined with a floating bug pattern, just drives them CRAZY 🤪😜
We don’t have bass, trout , salmon or even cats here it’s an all salt species fishing with almost everything being a coral bottom…having vertical ledges of coral that can be a 1’ to 30 ‘ it’s not so much about what kind of weights u use but more knowledge of area u fish…although your vid has got me thinking of some different presentations I’ll try…great vid 👍🏼…Fishin is Wishin 😎
I hear ya, I know the feeling, I've been working 27-28 days a month 12 hr shifts for 3 months... man I can't get nothing done around the house! But when I get time, I'm gonna send you a hack (been using it for 30+ yrs too) that I think you'll like that actually pertains to at least two of your videos... Keep up the good work and humor👍👍👍
G'day mate it's about time you posted another one thought the dreaded bloody covid had shut ya down ,great show and ya right mate the pool scene never gets old 😆
it is also worth remembering that salt water carries weight higher than fresh water. you therefore need to spend more weight on the ocean than on the lake.
Hey mate, I hope you are doing well over there. I was hanging out for a while for a new vid! And was starting to worry that Covid might have been hurtin over there. Glad to see your back. Cheers from 🇦🇺 Rousey
Do you have any DIY or suggestions for weights - fishing in a rocky river (Arkansas R.) for here in Little Rock, Ar. Fishing for catfish, I always get hung up on the rocks and lose my gear.
What I would do I make longer weights . I have a video about making dragging weights from tubes . This would work well just make em at least 2' or more and they should go over bigger obstacles. If you want to buy some . I have tried the Dirty South Draggin weights and they are pretty good
Idk if you ever seen them before but I had something similar to those stick wieghts except they thinned out at the bottom side into a long thin needle like point. My only thoughts was that it helped them maybe not get hung up.
Video idea : DIY get ya some para cord or 550 and you can get it in many colors. No you can make bluegill and crappie hair jigs using this technique all you need is a jig head of your choice try it out ! Gut it and Frey the end and there ya go !!!
Keith, Another terrific video brother. Great pros and cons info introduced and a ton of considerations to...you know...consider. I took copious notes...when is the mid-term exam again? Anyway I've graded this video, and wouldn't you know....it achieved an "A" (for AWESOME)!!!
@@FishinNStuff I really enjoy your channel...especially the zingers...like the neighbors pool...I almost pee my pants each time you include that one. Love the talking jighead too...that's just awesome! I appreciate what you do. That local tackle shop should have a bulletin board that you might be able to promote your channel...everyone who fishes should watch your channel.
@@FishinNStuff Keith, you may wanna consider doing a couple of fishing shows thru out the year where you use some of your amazing DIYs. Building them is great content, but I think folks would love to get to know you more. You have some mad skills in creating ideas and constructing your cost saving DIYs, but your personality and fun presentation is a big part of why subs tune in. Showing "you" afloat (in action) will build your metrics...food 4 thought.
I'm getting away from lead weights I pick up rocks with holes in them at the river then I run a piece of line through it tie it off and I put it on myself
That's cool . I've got 2 of 3 virus about lead alternative weight . One of the has rock and steel and all sorts of stuff the other is stuff you can pour like bismuth
Hey Keith have you seen William Shatner trying to be funny imitating you on the Medicare commercial. I started using dragging weights after seeing your videos thank i sure do like using them
That man sized hook looked much like the size guys use to use back in the day trying to catch those mythical 2-300 lb catfish ,using whole chickens for bait. needless to say they never caught a thing.
Hi, so quick question. Maybe a video answer. What is the difference between bouncing weights/rigs and these drifting/slinky rigs? From what I can tell they are basically the same functionality but they are made very different. The bouncing weight is a stiff wire in a L shape similar to a large spinner lure but there is no hook. The weight is up high on the long wire and the short wire has a loop for the float and bait. How are they different? In use and form.
I use these instead of dragging weights and so far so good. Had a bunch from the old walleye days, a good way to use tackle that hasn’t seen water in about 20 years. We mostly catch channel cats and they work . Will need the do some comparison in a side by side to get a better understanding
Nice Tutorial ! real good never used draggin wheights during trolling just floats and lead on the leader/line to get it dooooooown there for the Pikes (dont have legal catfish here up north ) Someday il buy some or just make some of some leftover leads and tubes cant be that hard after tying flies for +20 years . Diggin the Channel and yes im Worthless with Name . Goddamnit / Paul Roger- North Sweden
Walleye fisherman have been using this type of bait for dragging a "Lindy Rig" since the 1950's, at the very least. I came here to be entertained and I got schooled!
I just cast em regular . But alot of the time I don't cast at all . Because I'm dragging I just do it in the water , turn on the trolling motor and run some line out . I only use em trolling any ways
Got these thinking they were the slightly larger Panfish floats th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU they work just fine. The smaller size lets me carry more in my tackle box, and the 3 color choices are nice for different lighting conditions, backgrounds, etc. They aren't the most durable things in the world. But, as cheap as they are, it's not heartbreaking to lose one or have to replace a worn one. The price on these fluctuates wildly, from about $9 to almost $16. So, time your buy accordingly.
Video idea: How to make a clamp on transducer pole. Just saying…. Keep on Keeping on!!
I have one i swap around on all my boats
I have used welding rods, just hammer the end flat and drill you a hole, if you want heavy I have used electric cable
