I got a 2017 CVO Street Glide, then put a stage four on it, along with a tour pack. Upgraded the shocks. Threw in a high-performance cam. Added heated seats and grips. The mods have been made over the bikes life. The bike has been in one accident where another rider hit me from behind. Got everything replaced that was damaged through an HD Dealer. Gunslinger's in Golden, Colorado did the paint. They are one of the painters of record for Harley. The bike looks brand new and goes like a bat out of hell. Love this CVO. It's so fast and just pulls in all gears and looks good. Its an absolute joy to ride. I never plan on selling this bike. Walking away I always look back at this bike.
A lot of people complain about Harley prices but you have to realize, these are not cheap little Japanese scooters. You will not find another motorcycle with the fit and finish of a modern Harley Davidson. Plus the fact that HD produces bikes to suit all budgets and age groups. As a young man I started out on a Sportster, now I am 58 years old and ride a 2020 Road Glide. It's part of life's journey.
my favorite is buying a 1 year old Bagger with almost no miles on it for $16,000 and riding it across the country many times for several years before selling it for $10,000.
My cousin bought a 2020 road glide 114 and I pulled from him ony 05 yamaha royal star I bought for 3500 bucks lol. It's like anything though some people have more money to spend than others but quality bikes can be had at any price.
I agree with you for the most part on this Mr. Monkey. However, when you buy a CVO you’re not getting a unique custom bike. The mods made are Harleys choice not yours as an owner. Although the CVO is the top of the line, I would still ( as you did) make modifications. Based on this I bought a Road Glide standard over the special. I have spent about $3k on upgrade and am completely happy having that extra money to get what I wanted to make the bike mine. You have a great point regarding the resale aspect, but I didn’t buy my bike thinking of selling it or trading it in. Still, very good video. Thank you
Every man has to buy a bike he loves. That thing is not my choice but that don't matter. I have a bike I love and turn to look at it every time I get off it. Got guys asking what bike should I by? Mostly I try to say buy what you love. Of course I do try to keep beginners on lower powered bikes. Otherwise buy what makes you happy! Buy what feels good! Buy what you are proud of!
You are 100% spot on....residual value is HUGE on CVO's too right now....the 19;s are STILL TO THIS DAY selling for 40k....yes...SELLING FOR THAT, not just getting listed for it....to this day I regret not buying that Mako Blue RG CVO....as I will still pay almost the same as new for one that has 5-10k on the odometer... I have a 2015 SG standard that I have dumped a TON of money into...everything you list...Custom wheels, chrome front end, Ohlins suspension, stereo work, seat, etc etc etc....and now I have a 50k motorcycle that has a book value of like 15k...LOLZ....luckily I love the thing....(I BETTER!!!)
Spot on. Only heavily customize a bike you’re going to keep or you lose so much. CVO’s are great for getting a “customized” bike that retains its trade in once you go to re up to the newest one in a couple years
The problem with having it done after market is, unless it’s done before it rolls off the line, chances for screw up are increased. The factory line is always going to be a more solid build.
I'm now 55 and finally could get a used street glide, but when I found a flhtcuse7 for $25000 AUSTRALIAN, I JUMPED AT and converted it to a street glide with all the cvo gear . Keep up the great work
This video confirms what I’ve been told at dealerships regarding what a CVO costs vs doing that stuff yourself. You’re still spending a crap ton of money for it, but you’ll have a bike with resale value instead of a really expensive Special with no equity at resale or trade time. We all make our bikes our own, with the understanding that it’s money you probably won’t get back. Thanks for spelling it all out.
I think that one possible anti-CVO argument is “What else could you do with $40k that would be more fun?” In my case, I bought 3 used bikes. All 3 or 4 years old with between 2,000 and 5,000 miles (Garage Queens). Street Glide Special and Super Glide for me. Freewheeler trike for the wife. They already had a total of $10k in exhaust, intake, tuners, etc. And private party bikes in AZ are no sales tax. Everyone is different, but I’m much happier with 3 nice bikes than one super nice bike.
I'm a CVO fan ! Lol ya I know those who buy a bike throw 10 grand in an engine so they can sound cool and never leave the city limits ! To me a CVO is the same as having a Cadillac Fleetwood instead of a Cheverolet Impala ! But to all his own the main thing is wind in your face ! Oh by the way I usually wear bib overhauls and a harley t shirt unless I'm going someplace special then I put on a nice Harley button down dress shirt lol😅
Worth mentioning...also if you finance a CVO then you're financing the upgraded paint/finishes/engine/etc., versus paying cash to add upgrades to a non-CVO as time goes by.
I have a 2015 CVO street glide, hate all you want, It's amazing! I drove 6 states away to get it. Liquid Mercury with Smokey Quartz flames. I got it used, and it's the best bike purchase I've ever made.
I'm on my 5th CVO with 2 in the garage right now and love them. Have a 2019 Road Glide also. People should buy what works for them and just enjoy as everyone's situation is different so no one should judge. Enjoy your video's
I ABSOLUTELY agree with you!! The new CVO… about $60k!!! Ridiculous!! I have about $40k in my 2017 HD UL!!! I know… RIDICULOUS!! But that’s what I like!! And it makes me HAPPY!! Your videos are AWESOME!! Thx for taking the time to make them!!!
I had a CVO as well and you hit the nail on the head. Outside the fact that if you customize a standard motorcycle, you’re still going to pay in the end close to or the same as you would a CVO and then if you sell or trade you only going to get the standard price. You may still add a few parts to make a CVO more your own, but it’s worth more to begin with.
I can’t justify spending that kind of cash on a bike but everyone’s situation is different. They’re nice ass bikes for sure. I personally go the special route with some upgrades.
That’s what we went through with my wife. First bike ever for her. Used 2019 iron 883. Had it 11 days. She decided too small, went to brand new 2020 softail. 14 days later she wants radio, windshield, floor boards , heated grips etc. So I wasn’t going to put all the stuff on. She now has 2020 street glide and is finally satisfied. Thank God!!!
Here in Wisconsin that beauty would be parked for 6+months, that reason alone is why I am keeping my 2011 dyna street bob (with the 110 tire shredder kit)...no point in "trading up" when it's going to just sit half the year!!
I've been Riding Harley's for 25 years now doing all kinds of changes to them..Once I bought my CVO Road glide Ultra it's a real game Changer it has everything I need.
Great video I bought a 2020 cvo street glide. And I can't wait for the weather to break. I live in Pennsylvania. There is a list of add-ons that was done prior to me buying the bike. I'm hoping the this is not a lemon. The shop that added the add-one is working on it to do some changes for me. I'll let you know how it turns out.
I’m on my 28th motorcycle and 2nd Road Glide Ultra CVO, it’s a 2015 model I have had since new. Today I hit 108K miles on mine. I have over $60K in mine to date. 117” Stage 4 kit, Dakota Digital instruments, Öhlins HD 357 rear shocks, Stage 2 Boom Speakers, Vance & Hines total exhaust system just to name a few mods of many. I also have ESP warranty which has paid out over $10K in warranty work to date. My CVO fits me perfectly with the Mustang seat I’ve had now on the last 3 Harleys I’ve owned. My latest mod were adjustable brake & clutch levers about a month ago. I plan to eventually install the upgraded Boom Radio and perhaps another pair of speakers in my lower fairing.
In 2015 I traded in my 2008, BMW K 1200 LT. I was looking at a HD limited. The salesman at Harley Davidson told me that he could tell by looking at my BMW that I would not be happy with my purchase since he noticed, I added every single upgrade I could to my BMW. (heated grips, heated seat, navigation, remote, lockable bags, alarm. Etc. ) I want to buying a 2015 CVO ultra limited for $38,000. Seven years later I traded it in for a 2022 CVO RG and envious green fade. I wound up getting $23,000 for my trade! If I had purchased that non-CVO bike, I maybe would have gotten $14,000. The reason I purchase a CVO bike and I will continue to do so in the future, it’s because of the attention to detail and the feeling that there really isn’t anything major I can do to the bike to make it better.
If you’re happy with it. Nothing else matters. I own a 2019 HD SGS and like most HD owners, have made several mods to personalize it. We share a similar sentiment about people. Happy riding.
you are 100% right!!! that's why I bought my 2020 cvo ultra-limited, thank you for saying that, some people don't understand, if your going to leave it stock then of course buy a regular one, great channel, Felix from New Mexico
Yes they CVO is worth itOnce you go that route you will understand.I can't go back now.I have been blessed with two.Extremely high quality etc.And i,m a rider.20,000 plus miles a year.Bless you my friend.
I’m really glad you did this video. This is exactly why I bought a 2021 Ultra Limited CVO instead of the Limited. Even if the parts that you can get equal out, the bike vin is still not CVO.
Think I'm qualified to answer this one. After 53 years of riding I finally bought the top of the hill motorcycle, a 2019 Road Glide CVO,,,,exactly like yours. I'm also a former dealer, but never bought a CVO,, ( we sold them!) I always just got a black whatever. I totally agree, if you try and make a standard anything into a CVO you're going to get killed at trade in time. It's still just a standard street glide or road glide, you get nothing for the accessories. Hard to really point out all the items you get on the CVO, add the Sirius module too $399 plus labor (2021 CVO doesn't even come with it) neat red light in the center console too. Yes,,,,we both hate the average CVO rider, usually doesn't even know what they have, they just know it was the most expensive so he bought it. I think it's safe to say we don't fall in that category. I love my CVO, and love it stock, changed the shield, added a Bad Boyz rider back rest, quick release for passenger backrest too, that's all! Now the 2021 CVO Road Glide doesn't have the Sirius module, no closeable vents, no hydraulic clutch, ugly wheels, sad looking floorboards. Sure enjoy your videos buddy,,,,thanks OCALA FL.
Own 2 CVO’s , I worked hard to retire and didn’t want to wrench on what I wanted. 06 fat boy, 21 street glide. The only thing I changed was the exhaust on the fat boy that was 2014
I own a 2018 CVO. Bought it used last year. I'm a big fan of the Gunship Gray. Price was reasonable. I've heard of brand new CVO's being in the high 50k, and that's without taxes.
It's less costly to buy the CVO than trying to make your bike into one. I have a 2020 Road Glide Special Eagle Eye. Of course I didn't stop there. I got the color matched tour pack not to make it an Ultra or limited but a Road Glide Special with a tour pack but it's a Harley so the upgrades never end. I see your CVO has upgrades too. We put together a side stand because it comes chrome on a ride that is supposed to be "blacked out as well as I got rid of the chrome bag latches and shift linkage. I'm around five grand in upgrades for a limited production bike and I haven't even gotten around to the bars and exhaust yet. Roll on and keep the rubber down. I subscribed so I can see more of your videos
I am also in the “Douch Bag” club as you would call it (I ride a 2022 CVO Road Glide) and to me it comes down to resale value as you mentioned. I had a 2019 SGS that I put a ton of money into and I was shocked to get a killer price for it but that’s not the case 99% of the time.
After settling on a road king , I traded it in after 3 months for a road glide cvo. I have NO regrets.... I guess you have to own one to really appreciate it.
If you add up what is on it vs what it would cost you to make your RG, SG, or UL have the same things on it, then it is worth it. My issue is that a lot of what you pay for to get in a CVO should have been standard on a premium motorcycle. A 200+ watt stereo, power locks, LED lights, etc. should be standard features on a $30,000+ bike - it is that way on almost all of Harley's competitors (BMW, Honda, Indian, Yamaha). That's one of the reasons I traded in my 115th Anniversary CVO Limited for an Indian Roadmaster - I got the same features on it, and payed $15,000 less.
Totally worth it.....personal satisfaction and upgrade purposes....quality... straight from the factory...and it’s a CVO....slightly better resale..Mine didn’t come with white flip flops and bedazzled jeans though like yours....I’ll have to go buy some now .....I did my research, looked at the costs and came to the conclusion that the CVO was a better deal than buying a Standard or a Special and then adding all the “Stuff”...so after receiving begrudging approval from my “Boss”...Mrs. Gunship Gray............ I bought a 2018 SG CVO.....in Gunship Gray.....and paid with all the pennies I had saved for many, many years.....I live in Colorado and after many phone calls and dealer research finally purchased my bike in Wisconsin from Harley Davidson of Madison.....and paid MSRP...not a marked up price....the monies I saved for paying MSRP and not a higher mark up price paid for a few upgrades I had installed at the time of purchase...Harley Davidson of Madison Wiscosin.....excellent dealer and excellent service.
They are! I once wanted to answer this question about Cvo value and bought a Road Glide Ultra and put the price delta vs a Cvo into parts and accessories. At that point I realized I still needed to invest about 8000 for special painting and engine. Since then I always bought CVO: 2 street Glides 1 Limited and I'm now closing a Road Glide. CVOs are definitely worth while the price.
Everything you talked about is spot on as far as I’m concerned. All that being said I like what I like, that’s why i got what I got. 2019 road glide special blacked out with the denim grey. If they would have offered the CVO in that paint and blacked out I would have got it. I’m like you, I still look at her with longing when we part. Yes the bike and the wife! 😬
You nailed everything on this video. Years ago i bought a2003 Fat boy from a dealership where my cousin was the sales guy. He called me up because i was looking, the fst boy just had 7 grand just put in the motor and the owner had deep pockets and saw a street glide an impulsed bought, never drove the fb when it was finished. Ipiked it up for 12 grand. Stroked ,staged custom everything. You were spot on. Just a 03 fatboy....
I bought my first SGCVO in 19. My wife and I were in a HD shop in Louisiana after we drove down to see some friends. For some reason the 2 tone black forest and wicked red or cherry caught my eye. The salesdude asked what it would take for me to buy the bike, as I said way past my pay grade. Either way, I got it for what I think was a steal for a CVO and have it today. I had an 09' Heritage to go with it at home. I do miss that bike but selling it helped me pay off another loan and therefore I felt better about keeping the CVO. As of today, I love it and it's beautiful. I have a new exhaust on it and tuned. For a 177 it really scoots and that's enough for me. I'm not a snob and especially don't care what others think. I love the bike! Go and get yourself one..
I had a 2008 anniversary colors CVO Road King. Bought it in 2011 with less than 2000 miles on it from a dealer. It was a H-D repo. Absolutely loved the bike, the power, and the color. I installed legend air bags and onboard compressor w/handlebar mounted switches and gauge. Fantastic ride and handling.-The issue I had was too much chrome up front, it was a painful source of glare on a bright sunny day. It was beautiful, the craftsmanship in it was superb for a factory built bike. Had to sell it in 2017, I fell on hard times, had bills to pay. Right after I sold it, I got a call to go to work and could have kept it. No one knows what the future holds. Least wise not for certain. No regrets well maybe a little 😎 Would I buy another CVO, yes. Most likely a street glide this time. Like your channel keep up the good work I appreciate you
CVOs are where Harley Davidson tests new products. You'll usually see larger engines and fancy dress up accessories. My buddy blew a tire, and he was towed to Milwaukee Harley Davidson. Sitting on the showroom floor was a 1 year old CVO. I decided to make a lowball offer, and it was accepted. I loved it and still do. (My son owns it now).
If I could see dropping that kind of money I know you get what you pay for. Here's one thing I work as an insurance adjuster on a total loss if it's a CVO the settlement amount is easy they value for what they are worth if you take the Road Glide Special and do all that extra add on's you are going to fight for every penny because it wasn't a CVO with added options you will only get a very small amount back and that depends on your carrier or coverage. It works like you said it's worth what a special is worth! Great topic and love the color set up on your CVO enjoy the weather have freezing rain here in Illinois
Hey man, you are one of the very few you tubers that I can’t want for the new video. No bull$hit, straight talk! Keep it up brotha! Great content! Thanks!
if you like everything just the way it is, its a good purchase, if you think about altering things you might be pulling off those extra dollar parts just to put on what you want. the more you look at it and would want to change about it the more over priced they become. this is a bike you leave AS IS.
You're 💯 for what you set out to compare. For me, I wanted an all blacked out bike. So, I started with a 2019 Street Glide Special. 117 Stage 4, Vance and Hines exhaust, Boom Audio Stage 2 speakers and amps, LED headlight, upgraded grips and mirrors, with a Clockworks 8 inch windshield and CVO style front and rear seats. This bike was the dealership demo (361 miles) and already had a lot of upgrades, including the king tourpack and upgraded floorboards. I got the Warranty Forever lifetime drivetrain warranty. I plan to keep the bike forever. For me, buying a CVO and painting it black would have been a dumb idea. So the smart move was upgrading the SGS. Now, at about 90k miles, I've just replaced front and rear suspension. Also sent forks and some other parts out for powder coating. I'm extremely happy with my bike and the build 💯! In the end I still have a Street Glide Specil. But if I don't wreck it, sell it, or trade it in... Then I'm golden!
Dude. I have the 2019 cvo with red peeper top and that silver below! Willy G # 1 and the whole thing. I even bought it for similar reasons after searching for the bike that made me look back when walking away for almost a year! Apparently I like the damn thing as I just passed 26k miles on my last trip. Another 10 day trip coming the end of the month! Love the dam thing so much I might just do a new motor rather than a new bike when I get to that point? Nice bike friend! Jeff
Good friend (70 yrs old) has a 2018 CVO Ultra. He just rolled passed 84,000 miles last weekend. His wife just got her FIRST bike ever 11 months ago (2020 Freewheeler trike). She just passed 26,000 miles last weekend. These guys are the real deal.
I have a 17 Cvo Streetglide and a 06 street glide. Did about everything I wanted to do to the 06 and when I wanted a newer bike got the Cvo I got a 7 year warranty and 117 stage 3 with the new bike. I wanted a new bike to ride a ton and not worry about adding things. My logic my year just has the paint job not a ton of badging and I’ll ride till the wheels fall off.
Just found your site. Got the same Harley I bought in 2019. I love it. Changed a few things on it and I'm in the upper 40,000. And that my choice. I hit a black bear on my 2009 street glide and told myself at 62yrs old this is last call for me. Happy trails to you. Ride hard and have fun.
I use to have a 2012 Ultra Classic Electra Glide Ultra CVO and traded it in on a 2016 Road Glide Ultra CVO. When switching from my first motorcycle, a 2005 Suzuki Katana 600, I did my research on the Harley Touring lineup. I came to the same conclusion you did. If I bought a base model and were to upgrade it with all the useable accessories including paint and engine, it would have cost me $10,000 more than a CVO just in parts, not counting labor. But looking at the CVOs lately, they are way overpriced including my 2016. The way you really need to look at the cost of a CVO is not by how much more money it would cost you to upgrade a current lower model bike to be a CVO look-a-like, but the actual difference in price between the parts that are installed. What is the price difference between the 107ci engine and the 117ci? What is the difference in price from a base model or special paint job vs a CVO paint job. The difference in price from the base model or special grips, floor boards, pegs, wheels, etc vs the CVO. Most of the useable accessories come on all models. Yes there are some accessories that are added to the CVOs as standard equipment that are not on lower models, but do you see where I’m going here. It makes me sick these days where a RG CVO is right around $50K and it is missing the tour pack, lower fairings, and rear crash bars. But the special has the same infotainment system but lower stage speakers, and no WHIM for Bluetooth com sets. It just blows my mind at how expensive the CVOs have become and they have less usable features than an ultra/limited, whatever they are called now these days. Although I absolutely loved my CVOs, I’ll never buy another one. Especially after buying my 2018 Goldwing Tour DCT, which is by far a far superior bike over the two CVOs I’ve owned in comfort and technology. Not to mention it cost a third less. I still have my 2016 RG CVO as I like having 2 bikes, one as a reserve if needed, but the RG has a little more storage space when I need it occasionally. My motorcycles are my only form of transportation. My wife has a small suv as her daily driver.
Test rode a 21 cvo limited at demo day at my local. While it was alot of bling, and I felt that 117 power, I actually preferred the roadglide limited over the cvo. 12k cheaper to boot. Too bad they don't make the roadglide limited cvo anymore.
@@ProfessionalMonkey I bought a 2020 Street Glide Sand Dune CVO last summer and love it!! It's my fist CVO and I still have my 2011 Softail. I wear Affliction and Rock jeans so I guess I'm that guy lol.
Great review. Puts it in perspective especially your comment about the bank lending to a VIN. Special will always be a special and a CVO will always be a VIN CVO
Great video!!!! At least your honest, which says a lot. I hate Harley owners who buy a bike, throw gobs of money into it and then talk shit about how fast it is. Its incredible.... I subscribed to your channel for your honest and humor!! ;)
Killed this videos because I'm thinking about trading my 2018 star venture for a CVO street glide. I don't believe in doing a lot of stuff to my bikes but for comfort that make the CVO a really good deal.
I just bought a CVO and I have posted a few videos on it as well. The question of "is it a good deal" is largely a subjective question. To some people, it might be worth it and to others not, and that is ok either way with me. I have my reasons for purchasing a CVO and I'm just fine with those reasons even if others are not. By the way, you are not a DB and neither am I. 😀Take care sir...
I bought a 19 RG Spec , and just built it the way I wanted to . For some a CVO is what they want . Me I wanted my bike tailored to me and my likes and needs .
Had a ‘17 SGS that I bought new and made many upgrades to make it the way I wanted it. Lots of money and I loved that bike. Until I seen the ‘19 CVO SG same color scheme as yours. Seen it in March of ‘19 and couldn’t stop thinking about it but couldn’t find the right deal. It all changed when I found a new one in February 2020 that was the right deal. Absolutely worth it. Too much detail and options to ever list out. Matt Laidlaw of Laidlaw H-D said he priced it out. To take a reg SG and to purchase all the parts with labor to make it a CVO would be $30k easy. And all the work I did to the ‘17...... didn’t matter on trade. Dealer told me to original parts back on and sell later to recoup some money but they weren’t goin to give a better deal with them on. That even included the matching H-D King tourpack.
I bought a used late model FLHXSE CVO Street Glide. I bought it to be my final bike, as I am now officially a senior citizen. It s not my first Street Glide, so I do know how much time, effort & money it takes to bring it up to CVO standard, so yes it does make sense. The paint is the big downside, you must keep it stock. Basically you must keep everything stock to retain value, except perhaps engine internals…
I agree about your values for building a CVO vs buying a CVO. I have a 2020 RGS Eagle Eye and always look back at it. It’s a sweet bike. Ride what you like man!
I've had a CVO and am now on a Special. Both terrific rides. In my option, there are things on the CVO that added to the overall cost that I didn't appreciate. Additionally, I ride in Canada where we have a shorter riding season and it is tough to justify the extra doo ray mes ($$$). For those reasons, I can customize my ride to what I what versus the limit myself to the designers at HD. To each there own, if your pockets are endlessly (and you those can't take the money with you), spent until your heart desires. As you said, when you get off your bike, seek a peek and love it, that's the bike for you. In the meantime, thanks for the great videos.
I love my CVO I test road all the bikes they had then I test rode my 2020 CVO Limited. No comparison ,as soon as I left the parking lot I had to have it. You hit the nail on the head with the resale value. And yes I still love to look back at the bike!
Bought my first CVO in 2019, it was an SG. Loved that bike. Just purchased a 21 RG CVO and I definitely enjoy it. Nothing matches the looks and the attention to detail and they are limited production. I generally put on 15k-20k a year, so having my FXST helps split the miles up.
Great Video. I think you nailed it. I just picked up a '21 Roadglide Limited. it's the blacked out version so I don't need to worry about all the chrome upgrades. I was debating between the Special with a detachable King Tourpack versus the Limited that the tour pack was included with speakers. Of course, over time, I will add some other accessories, but the only major upgrade would have been to go with the new Rockford Fosgate system. I opted for the J&M Stage 5. Installing that this weekend.
Just caught some of your video's, highly informative, for not only those of us that have been riding , but for the newer riders...essential! Thanx for taking the time. I'll be checking out some more. Gremlyn
and that's why i keep all my stock takeoffs. unless i'm selling to a private party for what I've got into it, then i can put it all back the way it was and keep the upgraded stuff for the new bike or sell seperatly.
I had a Cvo roadglide ultra, 2017 model. I live in the UK thus the thin coated chrome soon started peeling, the grey engine paint tainted quickly and I never road it in the rain! Had an ultra limited next and no probs at all...Will never waste my money again on a shiny show pony!
My 19 SG cvo vs my buddys 19 SGS 117 vs 114 Bags for the saddle bags Sena communicator Gel seats Whim unit lower fairings with speakers Heated hand grips Remote lock/unlock saddle bags Tpms sensors/90 degree valve stems Daymaker headlight and led turn signals Flared windscreen Engine heat deflectors Difiance collection 6 speaker 900 watt sound system Paint Wheels Axle covers Stretched bags Gauges Things start adding up real quick to add to a SGS,to where the cvo sg already has it and more
First time seeing your channel. Man let me say....I love it, we are so different and so alike I was stoked..I'm a douchebag guy also I guess ,CVO Street Glide..I like CVO exactly for why you had this episode..I can't afford to buy and do all those things separate, so it was one stop shop for a lot of extras..keep it up, new subscriber here!
I'll agree, the CVO is great to look at...but to put that much money into a bike that only LOOKS better than a standard or a special...and still get 93(ish) Hp. I could not justify the extra $20k on cosmetics alone. A 114 off the showroom floor is 90 Hp...and depending on which chassis...more torque than the 117. Of course, you can throw more money at the engine...but really. Don't get me wrong, I love my Harleys...we throw all kinds of money at them, but I can't justify that extra cash for so little gain. I have a '19 Electra Glide Standard. Of course I'm throwing money into it, but it will be exactly what I want it to be. To each his own. By the way....great channel...I look forward to seeing your videos every day.
I'm with you on hating people.... It's not just everyone... its a certain type of person. You took words right out of my mouth. I don't like people that don't mind their own business. I don't get into other peoples personal space and rubberneck etc.... Just go on your way and stay away from me. Stop staring and analyzing me, LOL. Good video
I also agree with most of your comments. However after working in heavy manufacturing for over 40 years and raising 5 monkeys of my own. I finally have a little jingle in my pocket to purchase a 21 CVO limited. No bedazzled jeans, no sunglasses to match my flip-flops. I’ve busted my ass and now its “my time” for what I could not afford when I was younger. The CVO bikes are not made on the main line at the York P.A. Plant. Takes longer to build and they build less units of each model bike. In Florida you probably don’t need it, but my limited comes with Daymaker head lights, heated seat, heated grips and a very nice CVO cover.
I’m on a BMW K1600GTL but I’m thinking about going back to Harley. My BMW came standard with RDRS, all the power, locking bags, etc. Having had those awesome conveniences makes it hard to come back to anything less, which is why I will only consider a CVO.
After riding a 2016 Goldwing then going to a 2018 Ultra Limited I was missing too many "bells and whistles" on the Limited. Upgraded to the 2017 CVO Limited, rode that for a while and loved that bike. But like you said it was just me. The weight of the Limited was just too much for an everyday ride. Traded it for my 2020 CVO Street Glide. Just right for touring and everyday riding and has plenty of "bells and whistles" to make the ride enjoyable. I agree with ya, if ya don't look back you got the wrong bike. Dark Side.
I bought my 2019 CVO Street Glide as a second owner when it was 6 months old for $31,000 with 2700 miles on it , do I regret it no I am 66 years old and just a country boy , absolutely love my bike
You and I both hate people, but you have somehow managed to overcome that. You created a TH-cam channel and in a remarkably short period of time have made quite an impression on folks. On the other hand, I will remain content watching from the sidelines. 😎
Great take on CVO’s, I have a 2014 limited cvo. And love it, but if you scratch it you can’t get the paint to repair it, yes they will sell you touch up paint. but even when you spray it with a gun it doesn’t match
Over the years I have owned quite a few Harleys, as a consequence of this I have a garage full of second hand accessories. I now own a CVO Streetglide and I will not be purchasing any more accessories for this bike as I don’t believe it’s needed. When I come to sell or trade in I’m not going to lose a lot of money and continue to stock up my garage. So yes I believe it’s a good idea to own a CVO. One day I will have to have a garage sale. Regards Bob Harley.
You are 100% right. I sold bikes for a short time and I’ve seen the sales manager look at a bike for trade go to ye ole nada book and offer rough trade money for a pretty nice bike and it didn’t matter how many chrome goodies it had. Then turn around and sell for premium dollars because of all the chrome goodies. If you dress your bike up just know you won’t get your money back. A CVO always got valued differently.
Thanks man. Great vid. I couldn’t agree more. I’ve had more new HD’s than I can remember over the last 30 years. I finally bought a CVO SG (2020). Every previous machine got 1000’s of $$ In upgrades and I took a bath on every one of them as a trade. I did sell a couple of them myself. My new one needs nothing although I’m sure I’ll upgrade some (I just put Lowers on it, bars, will upgrade the audio, etc.). If I ever do sell/trade it, I’m selling or trading a CVO. Much better position to be In. Finally - not usually OK with being called a douche bag but in this case - I’m good with it 😎
I've been riding CVO bikes since 2000 in Florida also. The most important part you didn't mention is the CVO is built by the same 5 techs from start to finish. They sign the bottom side of the tanks. CVO doesn't go down the normal assembly line. FYI
Unfortunately not the case anymore. For the last several years they have gone right down the same line. Also, they aren’t as exclusive as they used to be. Something like 10% of road glides in 2019 were CVO…
Your spot on about the financial side. Mine is a 2008 anniversary Roadking. It's a numbered bike. I didn't know they now go down the same assembly line and are not exclusive. Keep the Shiny side up.
I ride a 2020 CVO Road Glide and enjoy it very much! The thing is we still do upgrades to the CVO as you have done to yours.I also have an 2010 ultra that is a great bike which I have also upgraded the engine, bars, getting ready to do the stereo next. And a few other things. This CVO is my fourth H-D in the last thirty years and every one has been customized in some way. I still think your going to spend the money one way or another to have a nicer bike
CVO .... first, I know quite a few traditional MC club members riding CVOs, so there’s that. I own no affliction tshirts or sparkly jeans either 😆 however, I do have a couple Dixxon Flannels. 😬 Where I reside, CVO models run about $7000 above the special models. In my opinion, you do get what you pay for. Most riders spend about $6000 on all the after market upgrades they do over first couple years. But, CVOs are the only model that holds its VIN value. I never liked flashy CVOs, but Harley has changed the game with there styling this year and past few years. So, yes I traded in on a my first CVO this year! But, decision was made mostly on the M8 problems my 19 was experiencing. I’m still adding the ventilated dipstick and my must have slip ons & bars. But that’s it, the $4000 I usually add later to every Harley I’ve owned no longer necessary.
I completely understand about trade ins. 🤔 I just traded my 2009 Road Glide in for my 2021 Road Glide Standard. Trade got additional $500 because of the thousands I invested. But not near what it cost. Just quoted the trade rate according to the VIN. 😕
When I bought my 2016 Ultra Limited Rushmore edition I switched out the factory seat to a CVO heated seat it was 1200.00 buck. It's got the red stitching. Great seat very comfy.
Sound reasoning.... if you want a CVO get it and never look back. life is too short to have much regret.
Well said.
My favorite is when somebody bitches about the 40k CVO, but buys a 25k-30k bike and spends 10-15k to try to make it a CVO and they still fall short. 🤣
my favorite is buying a 1 year old Bagger with almost no miles on it for $16,000 and riding it across the country many times for several years before selling it for $10,000.
My cousin bought a 2020 road glide 114 and I pulled from him ony 05 yamaha royal star I bought for 3500 bucks lol. It's like anything though some people have more money to spend than others but quality bikes can be had at any price.
@@nickbirbeck1197 I think that says more about your cousin than it does your 05.
@@hdnet2112 in all honesty I would consider his riding skills superior to mine but I'll leave it at that. I know this can be a touchy subject lol
😅👌🏽
CVO’s are great for getting a “customized” bike that retains its trade in once you go to re up to the newest one in a couple years
I've had 3 CVO bikes and currently own the Road glide he showed. Love it and it is well worth the money.
The problem with having it done after market is, unless it’s done before it rolls off the line, chances for screw up are increased.
The factory line is always going to be a more solid build.
Yep and warranty
I'm now 55 and finally could get a used street glide, but when I found a flhtcuse7 for $25000 AUSTRALIAN, I JUMPED AT and converted it to a street glide with all the cvo gear .
Keep up the great work
Cvo is definitely worth it I still have my 03 screaming eagle deuce and am in love with it as much as the day I bought it
This video confirms what I’ve been told at dealerships regarding what a CVO costs vs doing that stuff yourself.
Absolutely. Bikers are worse than high school girls 99% of the time. Not willing to respect others' thoughts. I am guilty of it. I try hard though!
I love my CVO the way it is. I had no clue that I’d get heated seats, grips and all the extras. I came from the basket case era.
Thx for taking the time to
make them!!!
Well said!
The money is never worth it HD is not worth what they think they are but resale cvo does pan out alittle better
Oh just give her a little time 🤪🤪
What I like about CVOs is it is 95% finished when you ride it off the lot!
Sure enjoy your videos buddy,,,,thanks
OCALA FL.
You and I are on EXACTLY the same page. I forgot about the Sirius, the CB module and the WHIM pre-installed! I am sure there other bits I forgot.
So you buy a regular bike and then pay $20.000 to let it look like a douchebag bike? And when you sell it you just get 1000$ extra? You are a hero.
Own 2 CVO’s , I worked hard to retire and didn’t want to wrench on what I wanted. 06 fat boy, 21 street glide. The only thing I changed was the exhaust on the fat boy that was 2014
Right on and retire on, ride on.
Thanks! Welcome aboard! There is no "right way" to do it, really. I was just trying to point out that the money is there.
I have an 08 springer and a 09 road glide both CVO, resale isn't as good as you would think.
@@jimsavage2147 Which is what I said. With a CVO you will get a higher resale value than a standard however its commensurate with the bike you have.
Right on.
Harleys are like swimming pools. You can have a $300,000 home and install a $50,000 custom pool. You still have a $300,000 home.
Good analogy.
But Pools are great
Pools can't scare old white people with staring problems though :)
Spot on, great explanation how it works and why. Nothing to add. Thanks for making that effort.
You bet
There is a saying "when you buy you buy gold, when you sell you sell shit"! great video!
No regrets well maybe a little 😎
Would I buy another CVO, yes. Most likely a street glide this time.
Like your channel keep up the good work I appreciate you
Sorry you went through a rough spot, but they make us stronger!
Thanks!
Thank you, sir!
i didn’t realize how close the mods were to the actual price of a cvo. if you want a custom bike you might as well buy it from harley all ready to go.
That's my thinking, as long as the CVO is what you want. For me the paint sold it.
if you like everything just the way it is, its a good purchase, if you think about altering things you might be pulling off those extra dollar parts just to put on what you want. the more you look at it and would want to change about it the more over priced they become. this is a bike you leave AS IS.
Hell yes. I love to hear that. May we all get to burn up the road when kids and jobs get out of the way!
You hit a black bear, on a Harley, at 62, and lived to tell the tale. You're a certified badass sir
I can't ride for months with my shoulder injury and this is the type of content I'm talking about.
Your knowledge and demeanor are great man. Subbed 👌
Thank you, sir!
I love my CVO I don’t really care what people want to call me. I guess I’m a CV HO because I’m on my 3rd one now.
Wear it proud!
Amen my friend! Get what makes you happy.
@@ProfessionalMonkey I bought a 2020 Street Glide Sand Dune CVO last summer and love it!! It's my fist CVO and I still have my 2011 Softail. I wear Affliction and Rock jeans so I guess I'm that guy lol.
@@jasoncochrane7891 ha!!!!
I subscribed to your channel for your honest and humor!! ;)
Thanks!!!
Killed this videos because I'm thinking about trading my 2018 star venture for a CVO street glide. I don't believe in doing a lot of stuff to my bikes but for comfort that make the CVO a really good deal.
my son in law turned me on to your channel i'm been riding for a few years really enjoy the channel keep up the great work
Awesome! Thank you!
Absotively my friend.
Right on!
I've had 3, wouldn't own anything else. And I still add more chrome. But thats just me.
If you can afford the bike, with honest money, then it's fine to own it.
The part about it's worth being set by the bank is so true.
My 19 SG cvo vs my buddys 19 SGS

First time seeing your channel. Man let me say....I love it, we are so different and so alike I was stoked..I'm a douchebag guy also I guess ,CVO Street Glide..I like CVO exactly for why you had this episode..I can't afford to buy and do all those things separate, so it was one stop shop for a lot of extras..keep it up, new subscriber here!
I’m with you. I like the idea of buying stock and making it your own. More personal that way.
Thanks, and I hear what you’re saying, I really do.
Absolutely. We need more CVO riders without bejeweled pants!
Dark Side.
Great video. After a few HD touring bikes that's why I upgraded to CVO in 2017. The math don't lie..... Was at Sturgis 21, sorry we missed you....
Yeah but this is all virtual... no one in my face. Ha!
Thanks for weighing in!
Much better position to be
In.
Finally - not usually OK with being called a douche bag but in this case - I’m good with it 😎
Right? It's an unfortunate club CVO owners are in...
Where I reside, CVO models run about $7000 above the special models.
Brakes on cvo are better. Just did the stage 2 Fosgate on my 20 cvo limited. Love it
Also heated grips and seat standard
I completely understand about trade ins. 🤔 I just traded my 2009 Road Glide in for my 2021 Road Glide Standard. Trade got additional $500 because of the thousands I invested. But not near what it cost. Just quoted the trade rate according to the VIN. 😕
Yup. Better to sell them, but what a pain in the arse.
When I bought my 2016 Ultra Limited Rushmore edition I switched out the factory seat to a CVO heated seat it was 1200.00 buck. It's got the red stitching. Great seat very comfy.
