I think you nailed this review. Have a 24 SG CVO in legendary orange, and I just rode a RG CVO ST today. I didn’t really push it too hard, but I didn’t have access to track mode (HD demo ride bike). In sport mode, it felt the same as my SG. I would much rather have all the bells and whistles and the better paint job…but that is me, and the reason why HD makes both!!!

Love that orange color. I would strongly consider the street glide version in that color, but not crazy about the $6000 up charge for paint. I can get a really nice custom paint job for that money.
2022 Road Glide ST. Zippers 468, Thundermax tuner, Gallop Freedom Blaster 2 into 1, SS intake. I will not trade it in for a new one. I like the analog bikes better too.
I too bought the CVO RGST, but then turned it into a comfortable Performance Geezer Glide. I like the paint better. I like the absence of the VVT. And from there, I did what I could to turn it into a comfortable Road Glide that wasn't orange ( heated grips, Corbin heated seat, standard floor boards, painted front fender, and on, and on, and on ).

Good review These are still going for one sticker in So. Cal and they are not sitting on the floor for very long. I did buy one and think it is amazing. I am primarily a Ducati guy but Harley hit it out of the park with this one. My favorite thing about this bike is that it is one of the extremely few CVOs where the paint job does not look like it came straight out of a rap video. This bike kind of reminds me of what could happen if during a drunken one night stand a Ducati Pikes Peak and a Road Glide decide to hook up and ended up spawning.

Sean, I love your videos. I had a new CVO Street Glide and found two major issues. Custom paint is awesome looking, but if you get a scratch or heaven forbid you need to get a panel repaired, it's pretty much impossible to replicate and match the colors. Also, the rear speakers are useless at highway speeds and the extra amp takes away a significant amount of storage space in one of the bags. Not a huge difference, but if you spend enough time doing longer trips it becomes more obvious. I sold my CVO and bought a new Street Glide Standard and I'm much happier with the bike. It's lighter, feels more nimble and handles better, since it's lighter it feels just as quick if not quicker despite the lower power rating. I used the leftover cash to buy a used 114 Breakout to zip around town on.
It's the other way around. The cam on the ST is the 511 and on the VVT is the 545. Cam lift doesn't mean anything. The real difference is 30 vs 32 teeth sprocket they put on the ST which makes it a bit snappier.
Would be really interesting to hear if the standard CVO isn’t the faster bike in real life due to the VVT. She should pull better down low and doesn’t lose that much high up compared to the CVO ST.
Those brake rotors are not made by Galfer. I wrote them directly, and they said they are not a supplier to HD for any model. I also thought they were made by Galfer until I got their response.
When you can almost get a Gold Wing DCT and an 2023 CBR1000RR-R SP for the same price as this Harley Davidson, and then have two awesome and reliable bikes, the choice seems quite clear. And if you must have a V-Twin, The KTM RC8-R is probably the best bike to own, they seems to only increase in value too, or just get a perfect example of an Ducati 1199 Panigale. I always enjoyed your videos when you had your shop and was up north thinking if I was ever their I would stop in. Was bummed when you shut it down but then you moved right into my neighborhood. I live just outside of Murfreesboro and did live there for 35 yrs. So maybe I will see you around Mid Tn. because you don't have a shop to visit. LOL Be safe, have fun. I like the RG CVO better but to be honest I would never lay down the money for what Harley wants for these bikes.
Cherohala Skyway is awesome, as is the ride from Cherokee back to Gatlinburg through the Great Smokey Mountains National Forest. We rode the Dragon on a Thursday afternoon and it was pretty empty, so there is that as well.
It's more of a " bar hopper" than a " tour bike. I bought a cvo st ( ordered the 135), and it's very quick, running true duals, but when touring, I'll ride my 2010 ultra classic ( 135 twin cam moonshine horse power) when touring. No lowers, no long distance riding. Not even an overnight trip on a bike without lower fairings. I'm waiting on a custom shop to come up with lowers for my cvo st.
"They think you cant handle all that power"... its a harley.. any power you may find in one is completely muted by the elephatine chassis. I mean black holes all have a harley in the center.. only thing made that has enough mass to get it started.

So, it’ll be $60k out the door by the time you accessorize it a little. And then it’ll be about as fast as a stock 20 year old sport touring bike. For that price you could buy multiple bikes that would serve their individual purposes better than this will be able to do everything. And probably still have money left over to take a nice vacation.
So 'ST' stands for Sport-Touring, but it couldn't be less touring capable...no heated grips, no docking kit for a rack. Maybe just call it the 'S' (what little touring element it retains is implied in the chassis type)...

If you're looking for performance, you're not really looking for a Harley Davidson. Something like a Triumph Rocket with 180 horses would outrun this so hard it's not even funny. The Storm has what, 180 horsepower now? And they're roughly in the same category - muscle cruisers. The Rocket is also vastly better looking than this weird semi-batwing variation.

In the motorcycle world no point in comparing harleys to others. Plenty of bikes faster or with more power. That's not what Harley is about. That said, this model of Harley ain't for me either. But the more harley drifts away from their core with modernization, (computer chips, code, gaggles of electronic features along with eye-watering prices),..the more market share they loose. Their base loves the sound and feel. The raw'ness. My dad had one. Nothing else like them. On a highway trip, they're hypnotic. I'm an old guy now who's owned everything including the old large two stroke road bikes and I still appreciate Harley. But not their current direction or leadership. Yes, they've added more power to satisfy the base just like every other vehicle corp does, but it was never about competing with other bike brands. Just performing better for the brand. Bikes and cars have not really increased in cost but dollar has become so devalued. Since 2019 cars and homes increased 50%. Average increased goods up 25%. Gold $2500/ounce reflecting devalued dollar from all the terrible inflation from over printing money we do not have.
VVT is not going to give you any more gas mileage.just more junk to cause problems.I disabled it on my truck after repairing 2000.00 worth of lifters and stuff and it gets the same exact mileage running on all cylinders all the time.
I used to ride with a guy with a bike like that... he would always whine about everything in fear of getting it scratched... "My saddlebags cost more than your bikes combined" as he would often repeat. Luckily he always when home in a fit before midday! LOL

It's not. Dyno numbers are same torque and 5hp difference. The biggest difference is torque in the vvt starts early and doesn't drop like the ST

A whole 120hp? My 07 Glide is chipped, cammed, and dyno'd at 115hp. My BMW is 160hp and only 500 lbs.
These are 25th anniversary editions and definitely going up in value, so you're lucky as hell if you locked one down.

both are great, but once you put the new 135 in either they are monsters. by CVO makes 170/`63 with the new 135 and impact ecu.

If you're looking for performance, you're not really looking for a Harley Davidson. Something like a Triumph Rocket with 180 horses would outrun this so hard it's not even funny. The Storm has what, 180 horsepower now? And they're roughly in the same category - muscle cruisers. The Rocket is also vastly better looking than this weird semi-batwing variation.
My ZX-14 was dynoed at 205 hp at the WHEEL! By BMW K1300S was dynoed at 183 hp at the wheel. Harley's are an overweight fossil of a bike with engine architecture that was outdated in the 1930s when BMW came out with silky smooth air-cooled boxer engines that lasted a lifetime!!! Even Indian laughs at them!
In the motorcycle world no point in comparing harleys to others. Plenty of bikes faster or with more power. That's not what Harley is about. That said, this model of Harley ain't for me either. The bat-wing isn't just weird - it's ugly. And some bat-wings look great. More proof that leadership of harley needs to get the boot. They're going the wrong way these days and have no clue what the market wants, likes or can afford. Their marketing campaign stinks too. Cheers.

@@seanoleary1979 Again, the architecture "IS" harley's market appeal. Not the unreliability though. A v-twin with a fork and blade rod assembly from the past. They're unique. But the more harley drifts away from their core with modernization, (computer chips, code, gaggles of electronic features along with eye-watering prices),..the more market share they loose. Their base loves the sound and feel. The raw'ness. My dad had one. Nothing else like them. On a highway trip, they're hypnotic. I'm an old guy now who's owned everything including the old large two stroke road bikes and I still appreciate Harley. But not their current direction or leadership. Yes, they've added more power to satisfy the base just like every other vehicle corp does, but it was never about competing with other bike brands. Just performing better for the brand. Sadly, their luck is running out and it's sad when icons go down due to poor leadership. The idiots just dropped their gate-way bike; the sportster. A model intended to bring people in with a much lower price. Or for people of smaller stature or females who'd like to ride. Poor leadership decision.
Bikes and cars have not really increased in cost but dollar has become so devalued. Since 2019 cars and homes increased 50%. Average increased goods up 25%. Gold $2500/ounce reflecting devalued dollar from all the terrible inflation from over printing money we do not have.

VVT is not going to give you any more gas mileage.just more junk to cause problems.I disabled it on my truck after repairing 2000.00 worth of lifters and stuff and it gets the same exact mileage running on all cylinders all the time.

With Harley Davidson it’s always been about the sound and the feel. And if you lose that and I think you lose everything. I personally hate the fact that you pay a boatload for a brand new motorcycle and then have to spend a ton more money to upgrade parts.screaming eagle is BS.
