Thanks for finding my video and pressing play!
Are Lufthansa Europe’s most boring airline? Probably. Known for Teutonic efficiency and delivering a solid basic product, Lufthansa rarely sparkle on short haul.
In this trip I travel between London Heathrow and Frankfurt am Main using Lufthansa’s A321, a staple of their short haul fleet. I know a lot of people criticise European business classes solely because of the seat (economy ones with blocked centre seats in each row), but don’t let that be the end of your analysis.
Lufthansa’s lounge at Heathrow T2 is a good effort. It had a decent cooked breakfast and plenty of places to sit. Sure, it lacks in ambience, and is pretty dull...but t gets the job done.
Getting the job done is pretty much Lufthansa’s approach on short haul. There’s little to actually complain about - other than onboard food - but also nothing to rave about either. Much as I like to moan about British Airways, on their Frankfurt flights they’ll bother with a hot breakfast served onboard. Lufthansa served me a rather poor cold option. They could do a lot better than that.
However, the flight was punctual, the legroom was decent for short haul, and I appreciated the efficiency Lufthansa offered.
The service lacked the panache and “extra mile” offered by their Star Alliance cousins LOT Polish Airlines, which was excellent when I flew with them at the start of the year.

Great Trip Report. The pulse kicks up a notch when the bongos start!
^^what he said. ditto
I hope everything is alright with your family. I really missed your update
I hope all is well !
Glad to see you back here Paul,
This report on Lufthansa has come very good to me, as I'm flying with Lufthansa in business class from Manchester to Munich next week, .
So you gave me a good insight ! The meal tho did look pretty basic but flying to Munich is a bit longer so maybe I'll get something abit better 🤔
But its my first trip with Lufthansa ,
And thanks again for sharing the experience paul.
🖒
Well done mate - your editing of the airport & taxiing is better than any of us other TH-camrs - it's actually inspired me to film more of that part of the journey. Love it.
Cheers Dennis! I’ve always found airports to be really interesting and evocative places. I like being in airports nearly as much as I like being on planes...
Remember flying LH years ago and we asked for champagne on a breakfast flight..cabin crew responded 'so early'! We of course said it was never to early. Begrudgingly we got some bubbles....!
I thought the breakfast looked yummy! Not too heavy and greasy. Like the continental coffee glass. Each to their own :-)
Excellent job, Paul 😊 I absolutely love Lufthansa! Crew are always friendly, great service and an awesome in flight feeling is guaranteed when flying with LH 👍🏻😁
Great report as always and so timely! Have lots of Lufthansa coming up next month. Hope all is well with your family.
Thank you Sheryl!
please tell me that you stole the coffee mug! I love it!!!! I would only fly Business on LH to do that!!! :) love how real you are "boring lounge" and "breakfast not great"!!!! the true side of glamour! :)
Welcome back Paul. Hope all is good.
Paul that food looked like tescos end of date clearance, good job you have lounge access.
Nice to have you back
I've been lucky enough to have flown on that BvB MannschaftAirbus Eurowings livery. Great video as always.
...kann man eigentlich wissen was der BVB ist, finde ich ;)
Europeans don't eat the 'Full English' for breakfast, if that's what you were wanting; for better or worse, cold cuts, muesli and yogurt are the norm, on the ground or in the air.
Jeah that's right but it is also not okay for me and i am german xD
@2:30, my God, that Lufthansa lounge is HUGE!
Loved your remark about the little bird on the tarmac just before take off!
Lot's of people still ' try' the European Business and they know it is economy seat and afterwards still complain! Then don't fly it, go sit in the back! Great video
Hi Paul I have never thought about taking a stopover flight but after watching your reports I will think about it. I find your reports I very informative and helpful.Thank you and keep up the good work.
Good to have you back Paul, hoping all is well with you. Good video once again 👍
Welcome back Paul !👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I was waiting for your next trip ✈️ thx God you're back🙏🏻 love all your videos looking forward for more .
Thank you Jane! 👍🏻
The flight over the Frankfurt Airport is nice.
LHR and FRA are my favourites Airports
So many thanks for uploading it.
Fortunatelly you had a big breakfast at the lounge
Loved your taxi comment with the wagtail and I also like how when you show leg room, you do this little foot dance lol. Loved your video as I do all of them. Thank you.
LH has always been my preferred carrier when I am in Europe as I use FRA as my hub. I do prefer their breakfast to a hot one as they are generally more dependable and reliable. I have also preferred their handle-less cups, and liked them so much I have 4 of them at home (thanks to a friend at LH). It is the wonderful thing about airlines there are things we love, hate or put up with.
I would prefer more legroom in their business class though. It seems to have shrunk over the years as they try and get more people on planes.
Excellent report Paul.
Food service was a little light, I agree with you there and it's always annoying when there is no handle on the coffee mug.
For the first time in a long time I will be flying United from T2 next week and finally have star alliance GOLD, so will at least be able to check out a few lounges before jumping on the UA 787-9.
Thanks for Sharing.
Nice - the Singapore one is the best I’ve been to so far, it’s miles ahead of Lufthansa anyway. Apparently the United Lounge is also pretty decent. Have they fitted new Polaris seats onto any 789 yet?!
I guess I might check out a few lounges.
From looking at the seat map it looks like the older ones, but I'm in coach anyhow, maybe the UA Gold status might bag me a very unlikely upgrade. I could have taken the 777-300ER with them via SFO, but just don't want the extra flight this time around.
You flying to LAX or SAN? Ah...coach on a 787...good luck!
LAX this time, I actually don't mind coach to be fair, even on a 787.
At least gold gets me economy comfort for free, so no complaints.
At least it was not one of those horrible paper cups like you get at Starbucks for a lot of money.
Those airport buses are a great idea .....but they'll never take off!!!!!
Baku quite interesting and safe ..great food and hospitable people and to get there try Azerbaijan air lines F class-you won't be hungry and good price
World: we’ll keep adding runways to our airports.
Heathrow: meh, we’re ok with two.
Thankyou for another great report! I love SAS, Lufthansa and really appreciate Norwegian too.
Welcome back. Another great report. Interesting arrival gate. Had to check the charts to see exactly where i5 was!!
Thanks,Paul.I look forward,to these trip reports,every week.
What I love at FRA is that you can have an overview of the airport at approaching.
And the Waldstadion is called Commerzbankarena now.
Really good to have you back, Paul.
I remember a British Airways first class flight I took from LHR-AMS, they served a full English breakfast. It was very good.
Good to have you back Paul. Hope all is well.
Hopefully things are well. So happy to see you.
I flew fra-Lhr a week or so ago with lh and found the experience to be super average, average food, average seat and average staff. Must say both the Swiss lounge in Gva and air Canada lounge in fra were very nice though.
Cool!!! Lufthansa flight!! Glad you could make one!!! And best wishes on you and your family!
Delta Airlines app also lets you track your bags.
Another excellent report sir! I'm really looking forward to your adventures w/Austrian airlines, rock on brother....
Nice to have you back Paul, hope all is well with you : )
09:35 That's an Air Canada 777-300ER. Nice Video! (Though that's no surprise) :)
I departed through A18 at LHR T2 but that was a LH A20N(A320 NEO)
Iam going to fly my trip with Lufthansa Arn-Munich (B) on monday! Hope they have handles on the mug
Like the logo entry
Glad you are back to normal. I did wonder what had happened
@9:37 thata a united dreamliner and also that "a380 was i think a BA 747 due to the hump
Love your style of reviewing! Thanks!
Good review, thank you. I will keep watching.
Great to have you back missed you mate
Air Canada representing.
Great video as always.
Enjoying your video's Paul, keep up the good work and reporting,
Another great video paul..but I have one question. You said that lounge was boring. Well what exciting do you expect in an airport lounge..
PS : Please dont think that I sound rude..I do love all your videos.
PS 2 : That view of concorde at 7:30 was amazing.
I can't see myself ever paying extra for that!
Nice video Paul, keep up the great content mate 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Nice you got a decent breakfast at the LH lounge
Your next trip should be to the new Berlin-Brandenburg-International airport Don't fly with Ryanair. They use T5
I have done this trip with Lufthansa in the past and meal service was so bad that we didn't get our meal until we were on the descent into Frankfurt.
Very nice video good job 👍👍👍
Thanks for another nice trip report! Last week I was on Lufti's A321 between AMS and FRA, both out- and inbound flight seated on A1 and it was quite dissappointing. In my perception even BA's current Club Europe seats are more comfortable (legroom and seat back of LH's seats were OK but the actual seating-surface seemed rather short).
I really enjoy your trip reports. Very nice channel.
Very well done please keep up the good work
excellent video 👍😎
I really like this video great
Is there a long taxi to the stand ? When you reported that you seemed to fly past the airport it reminded me of the Polderbaan at AMS
When you enter the plane, the guy in front of opens the overhead locker and almost hits the grey haired man!
Loved the video Paul
Especially the little pied wagtail 😊
Paul you're an inspiration to us all I wish I had the money to do what you do your very lucky liveing in England you are closer to Europe and the usa that what we are in Australia I also like travelling i really want to do more air travel I will also be getting my Priority Pass soon for Christmas 👍👍👍👍😄😄
That breakfast looked bizarre, congrats on 35K subscribers, just ticked past.
hi paul hope all is well this seemed like a pretty decent flight all in all on a well seasoned a321! rob
As usual extraordinary...This guy is awesome ..Hope to see a video on Virgin airlines and virgin azuma trains...Take care champ
Thank you
beautifuel vídeo Lufthansa A-321✈👍👏👏👏
The old JU 52 would be one that I would love a flight on
@13:05 he greased that especially for the a321
Would you fly Austrian Airlines to Tbilisi? I flew them in September 2000 and arrived in Tbilisi which seemed surprisingly forlorn. Now it’s so much improved and affordable. It would be awesome to see how Georgian hospitality is reflected in their lounges and arrival areas.
Who else is binge watching?
Nice smooth landing.
From the perspective of a US resident who has always lived here, I will admit to saying that when it comes to business class (or Domestic First because we just have to be different) I’d gladly take an economy seat with no middle and the better food to what we have in the US. In reality, I wouldn’t even mind having a middle seat passenger or being one and just paying more for the food.
Ah so you have Carlisle Stansted booked on your future flights - it's nice to see you on some domestic commuter services once again. Perhaps there are some more 20~30 seats turboprops on your radar, like the JS41 and DHC6?
Yes, though those are much more difficult to accommodate logistically as they tend to be in more remote areas. Hopefully get the VLY-CWL service at some point in the summer.
Ah the PSO flight with Eastern (y)
I've just flown NCL-BHD-IOM with T3/BE, and both the aircraft and service were exceptional! I'll certainly be looking forward to your report on Eastern :D.
On a sidenote, is filming allowed in Anglesey? Not that there is much to film, but would the RAF allow it?
I doubt anyone would bat an eyelid. Not sure about the exact legal arrangement there but I’ve been there before and the “Anglesey Airport” is basically a tiny fenced off civilian exclave of the military airfield.
I doubt military law applies within its confines and I don’t think they’d be sniffy about filming on the airfield as there are a lot of spotters who film and photograph movements anyway from the perimeter fence.
Valley is fortunately just a training base and there’s nothing terribly secret there (or if there is, it’s secret secret!).
very good video
all those shorthaul-shuttle flights take a lot of slots from the longhaul big birds at the hubs..they should operate fewer of them with bigger planes to fit more pax??????
I like this video
Is that definitely Sandown Park and not Kempton Park? Just saying because we drove past Kempton en route to football at Hampton & Richmond Borough FC on Saturday and I spent the game taking photos of the football and pointing my lens up to the sky taking photos of planes out of Heathrow ;)
It’s Sandown Park as only Sandown has a go-kart track.
Great video. Suppose you won't get a full English on a German flight
I stayed at the Easyhotel before an early morning flight back in 2015. Never again. Like sleeping in a dorm room.
I much prefer the Premier Inn at T4, although it does involve quite a walk from the airport.
Lufthansa. Super.
I hope everything is fine with your family and I'm glad you are back uploading! :)
Still I don't really like Lufthansa's european Business Class. They should introduce a solidly more comfortable seat like all the american airlines have...
Thats just a normal Business Class in europe.
Welcome back Paul and I hope everything is okay with your family. Great video as ever but I agree, Lufthansa looks a little boring. The breakfast looked very mediocre and I find the idea of no handle on a coffee mug irritating. Who thought that this was a good idea for hot drinks? Great shots of Heathrow on departure.
11:07 Eh? -Lufthansa isn't offering the Continental/UK breakfast option anymore? -last time I used them, Economy into Edinborough, that was still an option (over 10 years ago, though).
So a second breakfast is really a thing?!?!
Hello Paul,
Welcome back and thank you this video. I hope all is well with your family and you are able to continue your reports with no worries.
Will you be flying any Skyteam member airlines this year. I am curious to hear your thoughts on Westjet of Canada.
It’s all very German isn’t it! Very neat, plain and not much to look at; especially with that breakfast although I think the quantity sufficed. Another great report Paul.
I'd much rather a Lufthansa breakfast than a British Airways one!
European single aisle business class is literally Economy ;-;
this business class is for shorthaul flights...
That's true. I would never spend extra money fot Businees on short-haul flights in Europe. You're basically paying for the lounge acces.
Iamwatchingyou75 Go on the Airlines that use wider seats for their short flights
Iamwatchingyou75 In Europe its usually the Eastern European Airlines that use wider seats
Which ones? Almost no airlines at all in Europe use a 2+2 configuration in business class. It’s almost all convertible economy. Turkish and Atlasglobal are exceptions but they also aren’t in Europe, really.
Air Serbia ripped theirs out last year as it doesn’t make any money.
4:09 ehhh its the airplane of borussia dortmund xD
12:19 The "Waldstadion" is now the "Commerzbank-Arena".
Another excellent video. What did you make of the EasyHotel?
Primera air seem to be offering some great deals. Hope you decide to give them a try
I think that “unidentified” aircraft was the B777 Air Canada flight from Toronto or Montreal. You can make out the maple leaf on the tail if you really look.
Jack_02 its air canada b787
Thanks - a timely report. I was pricing some options from Edinburgh to Belgrade today and Lufty have the best timings. Not sure the Biz class service is worth the premium over Y to be honest.
More and more I see of business class in Europe, the more I think it just isn't worth it - perhaps the only exception is Turkish but I'm lucky being based in Bulgaria but really a small piece of meat and cheese and a mouthful of fruit - a hot drink with long life milk? I was surprised too at a bus service at Frankfurt! Isn't this what we excpect with WizzAir?
Will you be reviewing Aegean business class as part of your *A tour this year? Considered by many as the best business class within Europe, and I can highly recommend it :)
