Wow! Just Wow! 🤩 Now THAT IS A FIRST CLASS TRIP! Flying Lufthansa First Class on a 747-8 looks incredible! 🤯😮Also at 17:05 Dennis Bunnik recently used that soundtrack in his video on Oman Air’s 787 in Business Class! Can’t wait to try LH First someday. However if given the choice on a 747 I’d still rather fly upstairs in Business Class… 😊Call me crazy! 😜 Anyways great job Paul Cheers 🥂
I agree, Paul. There is no other aircraft that offers this experience than a 747 in 1A. That slight forward view, no one passing by your seat, the uniqueness of the space, everything. I loved it but fear I'll never do it again. Thanks for sharing.
I was met at the aircraft and driven to the first class lounge in a very nice Porsche EV. The inbound flight had an apron position. The look on other passengers faces as they boarded a bus and I walked towards the car was priceless.
Amazing Paul. I ticked this experience off my bucket list last month flying Frankfurt to San Fransisco. Crew was amazing, seat/bed the best, food and drink sensational! Plus the Porsche pyjamas you get to keep. Fully recommend this. Plus I only paid $800 USD for the privilege as part of my round the world ticket!
Paul, I subscribe to a number of flight enthusiast/review channels (as most of us here do). While I feel that there is certainly room for all of them here, reviews like this just do something others can’t. Maybe it’s your personality and style, or maybe I’m just an American Yankee charmed by the British accent - either way, thanks for what you do - pretty cool to travel first class up front on the Queen from my backyard. Cheers.
Wow great video Paul. I had the privilege of sitting in seat 1a back in about 1987ish with Virgin to Florida, it was an amazing seat and still all these years later I still remember it. Not the luxury you had with you seat but it was a very very special flight x
Wow, that looked incredible - it’s such a shame that so few of the airlines bought the 747-8. That’s the sort of 1st class I’d love - it’s not the “footballer’s wife” lack of class that emirates et al have. As for the fare, amazing to think it’s a 3rd of the price when flying from Sweden! Air fare pricing is bizarre!
I have siblings in Europe. I’m in America. So to Europe I fly Lufthansa First Class (fav seat 1A) and then purposely schedule a 2.5 hour layover in Frankfurt to shower, refresh, have a meal in the restaurant and then continue on. On return home I usually fly Swiss First or SAS Business (depending which sibling I’m visiting) nonstop because I just want to get home to my own bed. 😉. Without a doubt, I think Lufthansa First is the best for my needs 👍🏻. Glad you enjoyed it Paul
Heard a lot about the LH first class experience, and it was great to see this "soup to nuts" comprehensive review. I had the pleasure of flying first class in the 747 nose on an Alitalia flight from Bangkok to Rome a good few years ago. Sublime experience! That semi-forward view through the front windows has to be unique in flying on a large commercial jet.
Particularly enjoyed the tasting notes. Good to see you getting max. enjoyment on this one. One hesitates to ask what happens to all that food you were unable to eat.
I had a great time flying in this cabin from Houston to Frankfurt in July, but definitely the ground service looks incomparable at Frankfurt. Thanks for your review!
What an absolutely awesome video and insight into another world thank you so much Paul ❤ Ps I did laugh at your slippers that could possibly be on the wrong feet ? 16:38 😂
Recently flew Lufthansa’s Business class LHR-GRU. 747 upper deck was very nice, comfortable seat/bed, good service and food. However my experience with Air France more recently was even better, only one seat on the window side of the corridor, seat bed as good as Lufthansa, service and food even better. Obviously first class is another level so thanks for your review.
Ive done the Lufthansa First Class Terminal many times and would book a 7 hour layover on my way to London just to have a nice soak in that tub. I have a little rubber ducky collection. Your video brings it all back, there is nothing like Lufthansa First hmmm maybe Singapore. Ive done Singapore in seat 1A too, right in the nose. Great video Paul!
Coincidentally I had my first Lufty F experience last month, it certainly makes BA look bad in almost every respect. FWIW, you don't need to use the staircase at the FCT, there's a ground level door and a lift to the reception and private security. I had a Porsche transfer for my arrival from BHX, with one other passenger joining me, as we were at a remote stand. They couldn't drop us off directly at the FCT, they took us to the terminal, and then we had to go through immigration and then walk like you did to the FCT. For the longhaul, I had the minivan like you, with two other passengers (who were on honeymoon). The difference for us was that rather than taking stairs to the airbridge, we were taken to a lift at the ground level base of the airbridge, then straight down the airbridge, avoiding the gate area and terminal itself completely. Very exclusive! Unusually for me, I had the Alexandra Rose Champagne upon boarding, I noticed it was on your menu. It's one of the best Champagnes I've ever enjoyed, so much so I decided I'd buy myself half a case... until I saw it retails at £250/btl out of bond. I made it through the majority of the wine list, with a lot of emphasis on the Alexandra. The mother of pearl spoon thing (or the lack of it) I've encountered a few times, ISTR Malaysian didn't at one time either: it's enough to know to routinely carry one with me in my hand baggage as a permanent fixture. The FA on my flight said she'd never seen anyone pull out their own MoP spoon in her 35 years of experience. You should join the small but exclusive club of MoP spoon carriers! Unfortunately, despite two gargantuan helpings of caviar, I felt it wasn't that great: I'm wondering if it had been inadvertently frozen at some stage, I've had that before at JAL, it makes the caviar quite tasteless. I wasn't massively wowed by any of the food, although there was a small charcuterie & cheese plate that I enjoyed later in the flight. Like you, I had 1A in a 744-8. The honeymooners were in 1K & 2K, and they politely asked if I wouldn't mind relinquishing my 1A for them... much as I would have loved to oblige, I politely declined: 1A is 1A on a 747, and since BA dropped their 747s early on in the pandemic, I didn't know when I'd ever get another opportunity. FWIW, I flew back Swiss F, another good experience, but not quite up to Lufty IMHO. (Although due to local laws, Lufty still mandated face masks, and Swiss didn't: it was an excuse to sip from a topped up glass of Alexandra continuously throughout the flight).
Wow. Another really great report. Thank you so much. The only thing wrong with your travel reports is that they make everyone elses look so pallid by comparison.
Is there an ap/site that shows the price being cheaper if you are wiling to fly from a different city similar to this flight? Or do you basically have to do a lot of manual and guess work?
We're doing the exact same trip in October in seats 1A and 1K, can't wait. We have a rather obscene connection time at Frankfurt of 11 hours too, so we'll be sure to make use of all of the facilities 🙂. Flying back on Swiss A340 First to be able to compare. Amazing deals to be had during Lufthansa's Companion fare offers!!
As a German I am very proud of Lufthansa, this airline is really one of the oldest in Europe and has developed over the past decades in such a good way. Even economy class on these long flights are pretty is pretty good. I personally would certainly count Lufthansa in the top ten airlines of the world, if not the top five.
Excellent review. Put me in mind of my years ago trip from Frankfurt to Boston in 1st on a Lufthansa A340. Cabin and seating were similar although not quite as spacious. This was before they opened the dedicated 1st class terminal. Thank you, Paul.
Looks like a great product, but I would have complained about the boarding shambles. Apart from the comfort of the seat, one of the important reasons for paying extra is easy boarding without queuing and waiting around. Particularly in first class.
Just one extra flight to save up to 72%? That’s incredible, thanks for the tip. With my luck though, Lufthansa would figure that out by the time I am flying, lol 😂 anyway, so what did you do in Johannesburg?
Great video again Paul. Thank you for the review. I've only flown business on Lufthansa and the fantastic service made up for the hard product. Also, necking that vodka like a pro and still managing to film straight.
Love love LOVE this! Thank you for sharing! Would really like to do this one day, but I’m afraid the 747’s will be phased out by the time I retire! Love your videos!
Great video, Paul, as always. Glad you got to finally experience 1A on the LH B747-8 🙂 I missed out on the First Class Terminal, and even the lounge, due to a very tight connection when I tried but the in-flight service was amazing and 1A is unmatched. Some aspects were less five-star, like losing my luggage outbound and bumping me to BA on the return. But, at those ex-Gothenburg prices it might be worth giving LH another try. I'm off to 'The Matrix' 😉 Rob.
Speaking from one lucky person to another, flying Qantas First Class return from Sydney to London next month. Even though a different product your vid is making me so excited. Happy travels. ✈️
I’d be delighted to fly on a747 let alone be in first class. Can you share how you find these deals? Amazing experience for you Paul. Thank you for sharing this.
Hi Paul, how did you find out about the Gothenberg saving technique. I would love to find out a way to get a First Class flight from Australia to Europe for anything less than 7,500GBP
@@Paul_Lucas SAS was selling flights from CPH to SYD via FRA operated by Singapore Airlines at half the price that Singapore were selling the same flights from FRA to SYD
I did the same route in 2006 just when the First class terminal was new. It was an amazing experience and was lucky to use miles to upgrade to first again in 2008 to EZE via Sao Paulo and in 2015 to Dubai. Another great video Paul! I loved watching this one, coincidentally I recently made a video of the same aircraft in the same seat en route to Mumbai in May. My favorite part was the caviar as that was a first for me, and the Royal Brackla scotch was the best I've ever had - incredible meal service. However my experience on the ground was pretty horrendous and I didn't have enough time during my connection to get to the first class lounge, or so I thought.✌
Lufthansa's premium product may be lacking the glitz and glamour of the Gulf States carriers (i.e. no suites or showers on board) but it looks like an outstanding product that makes the customer feel like royalty.
With the fantastic subject matter and your review of the on the ground services as well as the flight itself, I couldn't get over the fact that you had the slippers on the wrong feet. 🤷 😂
Astounding how much you saved off the ticket price just by flying into Frankfurt from Sweden. I had a co-worker that visited Mauritius, though on the much longer flight from Newark on United down to Cape Town. She and her husband were looking to visit someplace off the beaten path, but still an “island getaway”.

I'm stunned by the suffering you sometimes have to endure to make your reports. Thank you Paul, you're the best!

I think the big noise at 12:15 is the nosewheel getting retracted then braking to stop it spinning, right under your feet. Awesome
Were your slippers on the wrong feet? I blame the first class drinks for that! Great video once again 👍🏻

I was met at the aircraft and driven to the first class lounge in a very nice Porsche EV. The inbound flight had an apron position. The look on other passengers faces as they boarded a bus and I walked towards the car was priceless.

Dude took a freaking bath in the airport!!!

Flew this on LH754 from Frankfurt to Bangalore, India and sat in 1K. It was absolutely incredible!!

Awesome video Paul! Lufthansa knows how to do 1st class. Much love from the United States❤️
OMG Paul, that is what flying should be like on every flight. I haven't had good veal since I lived in Germany. I have always wanted to fly Lufthansa.
Wow, that looked incredible - it’s such a shame that so few of the airlines bought the 747-8.

"Footballer's wife" first class - I'll use that expression in future! Ha!
I was in the Dubai lounge the other day and "footballers wife" is maybe a polite way of describing some of the cosmetic, eh, enhancements on display.
I was a mechanic on the 747-8!
Ride on it while you can. There will never be a plane like it again!

I “flew the nose” of a UAL 747 from BKK-NRT back in 2004, and the sensation of being in front of the pilots is remarkable!
Wow. Another really great report. Thank you so much. The only thing wrong with your travel reports is that they make everyone elses look so pallid by comparison.

We did it and it was amazing!! I would say that Lufthansa 747 experience trumped Swiss A340 but probably swayed by the dodgy catering out of Jo'burg.

Back in the day when USAir was Star Alliance, I flew in First, three times RT, from the States to Frankfurt and once to Munich. What fond memories.

Fantastic!
How are you going to beat that!
Can't wait:)

Brilliant video thanks Paul. Lucky you
1A on a 747 is as good as it gets. You can keep the upper deck. Whenever I flew on a 747, I always tried to get seat 1A.
Great video! I did a similar trip last month IAD-FRA-CPT and return.
Further proof that Lufthansa offers the best in-flight service. Luxury all the way
Tjsnld Paul for a great review💙😀
Awesome video, Paul!

I once flew with Lufthansa, and they didn't have any cheese or sausage. It was a wurst käse scenario.
I give full marks for your presentation. Thank you very much.
I flew Lufthansa First Class in the 747-400 when it was on the upper deck... Now THAT is exclusive 😎

Excellent video as usual Paul and you had a great bargain simply by doing that extra flight!!!
An amazing video on an amazing aircraft type and an amazing first class product!
Hi Paul, how did you find out about the Gothenberg saving technique. I would love to find out a way to get a First Class flight from Australia to Europe for anything less than 7,500GBP
Sweden is a notoriously cheap country for premium air fares. Unfortunately, Australia is not as it's a completely captive market. :-(

WOW!!! Great job, Paul!
Superb!! Gotta try that service one day…..although all the 747s will be long gone by the time I get around to it!!👍🏻✈️
What a spectacular experience! Thanks for another great video. 👏👏👏
This is nice.. Lufthansa first class 👍

No, there is a car drop off area, you can see in the next clip! 😊

It is an amazing experience but you feel spoilt and difficult to endure the regular airport experience after that.
Absolutely fantastic trip report Paul!😸
Hello Paul - I am delighted you had the opportunity to sample the landside F class lounge. I was lucky to attend the opening ceremony a number of years ago. great video paul

Lufthansa's premium product may be lacking the glitz and glamour of the Gulf States carriers (i.e. no suites or showers on board) but it looks like an outstanding product that makes the customer feel like royalty.
Too true, we don’t all need glitz and glamour. ✨
@@AnneMB955 And Lufthansa can put up such a superior premium product despite not getting jet fuel for next to nothing like the Gulf airlines do.
Wow! thanks for sharing mate. One day.......
How cool is this...3.700 GBP cheaper from Sweden than from FRA😎👍
Amazing video and an unforgettable adventure on the Queen of the Skies✌

I'm so jealous on this one, it's always been a dream to travel like this, I'm so sad that 747s are being retired.
