I love that they showed Ip Man, THE master of Wing Chun, still adapting to Twister’s arguably more practical boxing techniques. I know that this is fiction and in reality, fights never are this clean. However, I can appreciate the choreographers choosing to have Donnie Yen’s movements to bob and weave much like Twister is doing towards the end of the fight. He can’t just keep static since his opponent is not ONLY bigger, but actually very well trained and experienced.

The very end of the fight between IP man and the drill sergeant in IP man 4 is kinda what it would look like in a no rules environment. People really need to understand that there's a separation between fighters who fight professionally, and ones who don't do it for money. There's always a fighter nobody knows about who's better than who we perceive as the best.

Even after twister hit him after the time he was supposed to and telling him that kicks weren’t allowed he still won , and his humble speech at the end is just absolutely amazing, the ip man series is one of the best movies ever and Donnie yen is perfect for this role

While fighting gloves against bare hands, elbows and at first legs as well. As much as I love these martial arts movies, this is one fight Im not too fond of. Seems quite unfair. Sure Twister is strong and a damn douche for that punch after the bell which ofcourse nobody in the commitee had a problem with and whatnot but taking out kicks should have been the rule from the start atleast. Dont get me wrong, the fights are amazing, I love watching them since I cant and I never will fight like that but I think they could have made it a little more intense. But thats just my opinion tho.

All those spots on the inner upper arm toward the shoulder are nerve points. A few good strikes near or in the arm pit would feel like an electric shock through the arms and into the shoulders. You wouldn't be able to throw a real punch for a bit after that. He also used Knife hand, the outside edge of the hand to hit the neck just above the collar bone, also damaging the same nerves but higher up.
Not to mention he was only able to punch with soft boxing gloves whereas the other guy wasnt. This is a bs fantasy movie. Nothing should be taken seriously

Edward Barroso It’s not the martial arts that is in question it’s the practitioner not being skilled enough. And most mma fighters are really crap anyway so I wouldn’t worry about it. Boxing is the first step a fighter takes in close combat or something that has close combat techniques then it’s the floor like wrestling. No one really starts a fight like MMA. Remember biting scratching eyes or groin area is prohibited in mma but not in real life lol.

I guess for me it was "most frustrating" when it crossed the line between believable and just grinding the "unfair" stuff into our faces. An honest fight is awesome, skewing it so far out of reality to build sympathy for IP man makes him winning feel flimsy. I loved Darren Shalavi on Kickboxer: Vengeance as Eric Sloane, which was his last movie before he passed away because of a heart attack. Darren was a stunt man and martial artist, he learned Shotokan karate, Muay Thai , boxing and kickboxing. Darren played in 38 movies. I love that they showed Ip Man, THE master of Wing Chun, still adapting to Twister’s arguably more practical boxing techniques. I know that this is fiction and in reality, fights never are this clean.
However, I can appreciate the choreographers choosing to have Donnie Yen’s movements to bob and weave much like Twister is doing towards the end of the fight. He can’t just keep static since his opponent is not ONLY bigger, but actually very well trained and experienced.

The very end of the fight between IP man and the drill sergeant in IP man 4 is kinda what it would look like in a no rules environment. People really need to understand that there's a separation between fighters who fight professionally, and ones who don't do it for money. There's always a fighter nobody knows about who's better than who we perceive as the best.

Got to admit, the English Fighter gave a tough competition to IP MAN.
While fighting gloves against bare hands, elbows and at first legs as well. As much as I love these martial arts movies, this is one fight Im not too fond of. Seems quite unfair. Sure Twister is strong and a damn douche for that punch after the bell which ofcourse nobody in the commitee had a problem with and whatnot but taking out kicks should have been the rule from the start atleast. Dont get me wrong, the fights are amazing, I love watching them since I cant and I never will fight like that but I think they could have made it a little more intense. But thats just my opinion tho.

And most mma fighters are really crap anyway so I wouldn’t worry about it. Boxing is the first step a fighter takes in close combat or something that has close combat techniques then it’s the floor like wrestling. No one really starts a fight like MMA. Remember biting scratching eyes or groin area is prohibited in mma but not in real life lol.

umm I know... its a film and meant to be unfair on Ip man
I guess for me it was "most frustrating" when it crossed the line between believable and just grinding the "unfair" stuff into our faces. I stop feeling for IP man because in reality it's the boxer that's unfairly being cheated on... An honest fight is awesome, skewing it so far out of reality to build sympathy for IP man makes him winning feel flimsy. Ip man was so good that with kicks he couldn't win but once kicks are taken off the table he suddenly becomes many times better... Silly.
