The mike Tyson fight was easily the best. Also, he’s probably the strongest character in the series considering he’s also old like ip man. He showed the most adaptability combined with speed and power. Ip man was never able to just counter him with 1 strategy, and was constantly on the back foot needing to switch it up because Mike would adapt too fast.
Funnily enough, there was an interview where they both claim that they're terrified of the other. Donnie Yen was so scared of Tyson's punches actually connecting, and Tyson was surprised at how fast Yen actually is.
That half of a yam is sooo symbolic: Master Ip only receives what is given to him, nothing more. Doesn’t take or steal, only receives what’s earned. And he returns home to his family with only that. The bloody bag of rice from his fellow master friend that earned it during his tourney fights, was given to the master’s wife-turned widow. Honorable and humble. Powerful, yet gentle characteristics of peak human form.❤

If you are talking about the character of this movie, yes. But if you are talking about the need to respect the real life Ip Man you have to realize that almost all of this is fiction. Nobody knows what he was doing during the war other than that he was enlisted as a police officer (which this movie doesn't even mention). He had a mistress that the movies also don't mention and the main reason he fought and taught wing chun was to support his opium addiction which is also not mentioned in the movies.

Since you have an insider perspective, I'm wondering: Do you find it as interesting as I do how the portrayal of boxing changed between Twister and Tyson? Twister was a straight-up caricature of an arrogant brute, and boxing was portrayed as a kinda trash-tier style with gaping flaws to be exploited, while the Tyson fight was choreographed as a hard-style master fighting a soft-style master on equal footing.
@@Just_A_Dude Twister was an homage to the trope in the kung fu genre of an arrogant white fighter who proceeds to get the shit kicked out of him by the protagonist. It's usually to show the superiority of the whatever the protagonists style is, and also to sort of hail back to western abuse of China (with later examples being fairly recent with the funding of the KMT by the US in an attempt to secure a trade monopoly with China) that ends with the righteous protagonist beating down an arrogant brute, as opposed to the cultured and mild mannered Chinese fighter. Meanwhile Tyson's character is effectively a Chinese migrant (he lives there and has a family) who has a hardened criminal past and is the "final boss" so to speak of that part of the film (it would have been anti-climactic for him to just lose easily). Rewatching this scene, you could totally see the difference in philosophy in their fight technique. The japanese fighter has a heavy base relying on hard hitting single strikes, similar to kyokushin karate mixed with judo. During the fight, it was beautiful to see ip man counter his hip toss.

@@Winterheart-fz8rd So what I thought was right, wing chun is used to hit the vital points but against a fat guy it's not really effective.. Then again a punch in the face still works.
@@JannieDaMannie Yeah. TBF it IS a soft Martial Art focused on keeping the other guy from being able to punch you or retaliate properly. It's really only efficient for self-defense and in the current era, there are better styles to learn from. That being said though, I believe what Ip Man said about "Martial Arts having nothing to do with how effective you are as a fighter" applies to all who wish to practice a particular style, be it Karate that has a very rough way of absorbing attacks and throwing counters or Boxing which focuses on movement and delivering very quick, powerful and accurate punches that can KO another guy in a single clean hit.
The Ip man series 1 2 and 3 was simply magnificent the action was as great as enter the dragon with the Bruce Lee!! Their technique their speed and they are style simply exquisite!!

Fun fact Tyson actually injured his fingers when Donnie was doing the blocking with elbow move and on several occasion Tyson almost hit him (due to his inexperience in acting) but Donnie manage to dodge his attacks
The interesting thing about watching all these clips together is that the only other style that seemed to give Ip Man any real trouble was Western Boxing. Maybe because in boxing his opponent wasn't just standing around at arms length waiting to be hit. Tyson was moving all the time even before any punches were thrown making it hard to pin him down.
Also when you are playing boxing most of the offensive part is your hands. So your legs can do the moving. But when you use both legs and hands to attack, you can't move when you are kicking them

First and foremost, this is not about Chinese vs. Japanese martial arts superiority contest. This film is about oppression and war and also contains anti-war sentiments. And throughout human history, such chapters of war is very common all over the world.
Ip man series was inexplicable to how amazing and perfect it was and still is. The fact its almost based off a true story as well makes it even better as a story its self being told in many years through out history. Many hardships were faced yet Ip man still faced them head on, honestly the strongest, humble, and kind soul of a man I have ever seen in the history of martial arts. My favorite movie.
Enter: Mike Tyson. Unfortunately due to size, most Chinese martial artists aren’t strong enough or heavy enough to deal damage to people much bigger than them. It makes sense that you lose to someone much bigger than you, and when they’re as skilled as Mike Tyson, there’s very little you can do in fisti-cuffs against an opponent like that unless you’re more similar in size.
I thought I was tired of martial arts movies until rewatching these scenes. I now realise that modern martial arts movies don't have this kind of artistry and genius. I guess I'll just have to stick to my DVD collection.
Yeah as amazing as Donnie Yen is... if Tyson for a second got the perfect angle he'd be able to take him out in out hit. The brute force could shatter your skull.
Definitely in my top five trilogy's of all time. Very well written directed and performed. The story and "folklore" it created is beyond our years buy far..
I have seen the Ip man saga twice, I can say that it is one of the best fighting movie sagas that exists, all 4 films offer an incredible spectacle, the master Ip man (Donnie Yen) has a fascinating fighting style and very effective, without a doubt the most dangerous rivals that Ip man faced were the characters played by Darren Shahlavi, Mike Tyson and Scott Adkins, it was great to see these last 2 legends in this saga along with another legend like Donnie Yen.

The greatest Ip's contribution remains so far underrated: the invention of the Ip address.
The move at 3:54 still amazes me…even on my best day I couldn’t do that move.
Nevermind midway through a fight, twice my current age, already hurt. I know it is purely theatrical, but I have no doubt it has occurred in life before.
I'm pretty sure he does all the moves irl, he's like Jackie Chan. He knows actually win chun
The smile at at the end of the Japanese General: "At last, I found someone worthy".
Ip Man is the best martial arts fighter of all time, it is said that he was undefeated, never lost a fight and was also Bruce Lee's teacher, a true legend.
14:18 that sequence is so good
I liked that dudes spin off movie, it was actually pretty dope yeah it’s not ip man but he’s number 2
@@SOSO_CREPITUS i like Z style of wing chun more, it looks more brutal and hurtful
Also this sound effect
3:01 "AH SHIT HERE WE GO AGAIN"
Ip Man 1 was so good because the fights were not only entertaining, they were dramatic.
3:02 "Ah shit, hold up" - Japanese guy
Haha
Ahahahahaha, ohhh, my tears...
Wtf 😂
Not gonna lie though Master Z was also a badass, make sure you guys check out his spin off as well, it takes place after this fight.
Yup
One thing I learned from watching CS (Carmen Sandiago) is always to protect the face
He good too.
Some may not understand, but i love the beauty in Wing Chun. All the movies show its application against multiple different forms. This is by far one of the best arts i have studied along with Muay Thai Kick Boxing.
Rewatching this scene, you could totally see the difference in philosophy in their fight technique. The japanese fighter has a heavy base relying on hard hitting single strikes, similar to kyokushin karate mixed with judo. During the fight, it was beautiful to see ip man counter his hip toss.

Thank you for taking the time to make this, very well done. Good luck in 2020.

Great video and I love how you blended the fight scenes together
Even IP Man's One Inch Punch was too powerful.

The Exquisite Art of Wing Chun @ its Finest...Long Live The IP Man!!
This scene was BRUTIFUL....
BRUTAL & BEAUTIFUL 👌
I still can't get over the fact that Donnie Yen is just basically giving you a really aggressive massage.
Not if you're of similar build as him. Those attacks accurately hit vital points. A good example would be his application of the wooden man practice on General Miura. Wouldn't argue that it's almost nothing more than a very heavy massage for the big bois though. As for the flurry... I have no idea what the fuck that is for. I think it's the only part of Wing Chun that makes no sense to me xD

Make no joke Tyson is a beast that's his full power he's using
Yeah! I felt the danger in that fight!!
Looks like the only fighter who ever gave Ip Man a true challenge tbh
If Tyson was in his full power, donnie yen would get killed for sure, professional vs actor.
Fun fact Tyson actually injured his fingers when Donnie was doing the blocking with elbow move and on several occasion Tyson almost hit him (due to his inexperience in acting) but Donnie manage to dodge his attacks
@@Tarzocin donnie yen know how to fight in real life btw.. he is not just an actor lol
I wish I could give this video 10 thumbs up! 👍👍
One of the best videos I ever watch keep going
The interesting thing about watching all these clips together is that the only other style that seemed to give Ip Man any real trouble was Western Boxing. Maybe because in boxing his opponent wasn't just standing around at arms length waiting to be hit. Tyson was moving all the time even before any punches were thrown making it hard to pin him down.
Also when you are playing boxing most of the offensive part is your hands. So your legs can do the moving. But when you use both legs and hands to attack, you can't move when you are kicking them
MMA is made for practical and competitive fighting, Kung Fu just isn't
@@apollo1694 - if kung fu was useful compared to any facet of the prime mma combination of mtkb, Brazilian Jujitsu & wrestling, we’d see it in the octagon, no doubt
Great job transitioning between scenes
Master Ip young in his prime must had been really fast like in the movies he also was a master at absorbing force contact I can tell you that, he also had one of the best combination strikes because he used anything even elbows he was flawlessly fast at doing it, only if I was old enough to witness it 😩
It's true I was there
The Ip Man saga is easily by a MILLION the best Martial Arts movies to ever exist
First and foremost, this is not about Chinese vs. Japanese martial arts superiority contest.
This film is about oppression and war and also contains anti-war sentiments.
And throughout human history, such chapters of war is very common all over the world.
That scene with Mike Tyson was badass
Yip men is the greatest master i ever seen i respect these men very much master yip strongest father in the history 🙏🙏❤
Of all the Ip Man movies they came out with. The first fight scene. Where he is fighting multiple karate fighters. That is my favorite fight scene. 😄
He took “Strike first, Strike hard & No mercy” too literally and mixed it with kung fu.
10:51 Mike Tyson throws a kick! Lol
it's rare to see this hahahaha
Thanks for this Awesome upload some my favorite took me back good times!!!❤️🔥👊
One of the few movie series that you can watch through over and over as the acting and action never gets old!
Ip Man Is the Best ..💪👍👍. I From Indonesia. I Like Ip Man😚👍
Ip man series was inexplicable to how amazing and perfect it was and still is. The fact its almost based off a true story as well makes it even better as a story its self being told in many years through out history. Many hardships were faced yet Ip man still faced them head on, honestly the strongest, humble, and kind soul of a man I have ever seen in the history of martial arts. My favorite movie.
No one can withstand a master in chinese martial art filled with hatred for those responsible for the death of his friends
8:17 For one second I thought he was going to RKO The Twister LOL
RIP Ip Man. Donnie is such a incredible performer and REAL martial artist.
Rule no.1 in Martial Arts: Never fight the nice or emotionless guy
4:40 damn he was just mocking him. That guys soul left body man
I thought I was tired of martial arts movies until rewatching these scenes. I now realise that modern martial arts movies don't have this kind of artistry and genius. I guess I'll just have to stick to my DVD collection.
We all like to laugh at Tyson, but damn I wouldnt want to square up with him now, 20 years ago, or 20 years from now
Yeah as amazing as Donnie Yen is... if Tyson for a second got the perfect angle he'd be able to take him out in out hit. The brute force could shatter your skull.

One inch punched the second best wing chun master twice with one hand whilst half-blind and dodging attacks to his face. The balls on this man.
This is the one and only time Ip man goes all out. It’s beautifully terrifying what he is capable of, and what he chooses to hold back.
14:21 one inch punch, bruce lee learned from this master
Best Ip Man's fights happened in the second movie IMO
Pure art, the turned kick at 4:25 is downright a flash slap
Donnie was just born for ip
Who else was glad the soldier with the glasses got offed at the end?🤟🎇
I have seen the Ip man saga twice, I can say that it is one of the best fighting movie sagas that exists, all 4 films offer an incredible spectacle, the master Ip man (Donnie Yen) has a fascinating fighting style and very effective, without a doubt the most dangerous rivals that Ip man faced were the characters played by Darren Shahlavi, Mike Tyson and Scott Adkins, it was great to see these last 2 legends in this saga along with another legend like Donnie Yen.
14:20 that's what IP MAN taught Blues Lee.
On justice at 10:35 when I first seen this fight I thought Ip man was finna unleash some new hidden forbidden wing chun ninjutsu with that stance.
Absolutely amazing ❤️🥋
3:47 hes not just kungfu master, he can parkour
