Man. The 10 man fight that broke the internet. A really awesome scene if you know the context. Doesn't even take the rice, just flexes on them like a chad and walks off.
I think across all 4 movies, the most emotional Ip Man shows in any of these fights is against the 10 Japanese fighters. Most of his other fights are in defense of others or in defense of honor, but in that fight, he literally just wanted to hurt some fools after seeing a friend get killed. That fight was pure vengeance and it was AMAZING! I also really love the part in the fight with the general where Ip starts working him like the practice dummy.
There is a huge difference between that fight and the rest. Most fights start with a back and forth, IP man starts with full defence mostly blocking and avoiding attacks. Redirecting his opponents, even in group fights its stall and delay the group, deal with one or two others, disarm a weapon and repeat. The 10 men fight you think will start the same as the group attacks, but IP counters with a quick take down and face stomp that instantly sets the tone. He's not screwing around, his intention is to hurt these guys and he does so efficiently.
Not every actor gets to play a role and make it so iconic that he shall be remembered for it forever. Stalone has Rocky and Rambo, Arnie has the Predator, Nicholson has the Shining, Heath Ledger has the Joker... Donnie Yens as Ip Man will forever be a classic... not sure anyone can top that.
@@GaryMitchell1966why would Donnie need a substitute? Especially in that moment. There are more difficult and risky moments where you can clearly see him. He is the real deal.
The build up to every fight scene was truly amazing. The 10 men fight brought tears to my eyes how emotional and personal it was. Pure anger and redemption for the loss of his friend. And when he broke down that General in the last fight... the part where he imagined himself practicing on a sparring dummy ..OMG!! Both scenes brought me to tears because I could feel the anger and passion he had to pay them back. Brilliant. One of my all time favs. Thank you for putting all these fighting scenes together back to back.❤
If there's one thing I truly appreciate about Donnie Yen's acting is that he doesn't try to over do FACIAL EXPRESSIONS in an attempt to sell an emotion to the audience. Subtle. Calm. Nuanced. Even during painful or sad scenes...it's still just a pinch of the right expression.

First time I saw this movie I was blown away by Donnie Yen’s incredible acting and martial arts skills. His powerful presence was just what made the movie great.
The "Ip Man vs. 10 black belts" scene, a staple of the Ip Man films, is a fictionalized account for dramatic effect. While the scene portrays Ip Man effortlessly defeating 10 black belts, it's not a historically accurate representation of his life or martial arts abilities. The film's makers emphasized that the movie wasn't meant to be a strict biography, but rather a dramatic interpretation of key events in Ip Man's life. Here's a breakdown of why it's fictional: Not historically accurate: The scene was created for the movie's narrative and not based on any documented real-life event. Exaggerated abilities: Ip Man's portrayal in the movie, including his ability to easily defeat multiple opponents, is an exaggeration for dramatic effect. Not a reflection of real-life combat: In reality, fighting multiple opponents would be much more chaotic and less easily controlled than the film portrays.

The General's own tremendous arrogance defeated himself. He witnessed Ip Man soundly defeat 10 trained fighters and he still thought he could defeat him one on one?
Donnie's mother was quite a good martial artist who trained her son intensively in various martial arts. Fortunately, Donnie practiced a variety of Chinese styles of kick-boxing diligently for several decades. That's how he has become a master after Bruce Lee and Jet Lee. But I'm afraid there will be fewer and fewer first-class martial artists like these stars in future as most young people would not learn such difficult arts through such hardship.
If you think this fight is badass, you should see Ip Man 2, when he fought martial arts masters of Hong Kong on a table. When he saved his student from a fish market and when he fought a British boxer at the end. Ip Man is the definition of “KICK-ASS”
See, the hollywood way the final fight would have been played out like Miura was a worthy adversary, but the fact that Ip Man unapologetically tore Miura to shreds is one of the most satisfying boss fights in action movie history.
I recognise this style its mostly Wing Chun Kung Fu, a style originating from the Shaolin Monks in China. I studied for 2 years under a master who studied in China. Wing Chun is best for close combat and has a fluidity of movement and is more about mental focus, balance and deflecting and re-directing energy/force from your opponent so is more defensive than offensive. The principle is to use the least amount of movement, effort and force to disable an opponent. It's paradoxically one of the least harmful martial arts if used correctly with restraint but also probably the most deadliest and easy to kill someone with a few moves. It's particularly good for dealing with non-martial art opponents where you can avoid a punch and easily get out of grip or lock by twisting your opponents thumb or fingers or wrist and arm causing extreme pain. Slight kicks to back of knee to take someone off balance or cause their legs to fall under them, whilst holding their hand and arm in a painful grip twist. Use of elbow into chest, ribs, or neck. A lot of the style depends on moving your body which is kept in a good slightly low center of balance feet apart so you can turn your upper body and head back and to side away from punches. A punch is typically with the first positioned vertically and done very close to the opponent. Open hand style is used a lot too on neck, or chest like a blade strike or an open-handed lower hand strike into chest. What is fascinating about Wing Chun style is the fluid flow of movement and the hand and arm postures which mimic animals like chicken/bird wings and insects like praying mantis. It is really much more than a physical martial art practice and combines a spiritual practice for some with mental training and meditation focusing on breathing to develop and use 'Chi' energy. Wing Chun at advanced level requires a harderning of the body and developing a tolerance to pain and strengthening of the muscles which requires hitting wood but is not absolutely necessary. Because Wing Chun doesn't require a lot of strength or agility, it's ideal for women and guys lacking a muscular physique. It's very effective against even an opponent twice your size and strength as you use their energy and strength against them, or it works against them and to your advantage.
This movie is great,it tells us about the war between china and Japan,it was really dark and cruel honestly...so many Chinese having to suffer during that period😢
