Excellent recipe. I followed the instructions, but used ground pepper instead of pepper corns, because that's all I had. Turned out great. I prepared them in a jar and put it in the refrigerator over night. Delicious. Thumbs up.
This is exactly what I needed!! My grandma made them this way and I wanted to make sure I wasn't supposed to boil since that's all I kept seeing. Thanks so much for the video!
G'day mate next time you make this recipe use one cup of boiling water add the sugar and the salt it will dissolve quickly and allow it get cold then at the rest of the liquid
Yes actually it is preserving the cucumbers. However, I would not leave the pickled cucumber slices much longer than a week in the fridge :-) Good luck!
I'm interested to know if this is suitable to can and would that be waterbathing due to the acidity? I can't find any references to cucumbers in vinegar / sugar preserving for long term. Thanks for your time.
My grandmother had this gigantic fruit salad jar that she used to make these cucumbers in. She would add a little bit of onion also that I didn't eat, but it gave the cukes a je ne sais quoi.. She almost treated it like pickles are done in China with the jar of brine that you keep adding to over the years.. supplementing and balancing
Can you use any sugar does it have to be cane sugar can I use brown sugar or white sugar if I have apple cider vinegar can I use apple cider vinegar or that mess up the cucumbers
Up to a week’s time should be totally fine - maybe a bit more - after that I would recommend to take a look at them and assess whether they are still good to eat. My tip is also to always put them back in the fridge again as soon as possible after using them as this extends the period they stay good in 😊
@mtbcookingen9102 actually its not the season of gherkins in Pakistan but only cucumber and cucumbers smell is stronger ... I'll use dried dill next time or can i add dill in cold pickle?
Just what I was looking for.... no boiling and 10,000 steps.
These can be made quick and eaten in days.
Yup! And they taste great and fresh 😋

Great tip! Thanks so much for sharing :)
I noticed you used English or seedless cucumbers. I've done both. Also added a sprinkle of cayenne pepper for a little spice or hot pepper sauce.
Just nice nice &nice 😢 thanks
Thanks so much :-)
Is it part of food preservation?
Thank you, cause I have a project about this❤❤

How long do these last on shelf or in the fridge?

Another small question, how to get rid of cucumber smell from pickles?
That's not really something I have thought of as a problem (that pickles smell of cucumber), but maybe try adding dried dill to the marinade? :)

In Indonesia, we like to eat steamed cucumber with salted "sambal"??
Sounds great! 👌
How long we can store them
Up to a week and a half I’ld say 😊👍
Can i use salt with iodine?
Hi, Yes you can - it should not be a problem at all :-)
you didn't say how much sugar or how much salt?
It can be found below the video in the ingredient list 😊
Great for lazy people :))
Yes!! :)
Those aren't Pickles
Yes they are. Two types of pickles, fermented or vinegar brined. These are the brined type.
@@damesaphira9790 They aren't pickles in the traditional sense, which is shelf-stable preservation without the need for refrigeration.
Hot dog?
Yes for a hotdog!
