At the end of each row fertilizer should dribble out when you pick the planter up that’s a quick way to know it’s flowing make sure if you took the augers out they go back in the correct way if not they just pack the fertilizer to the middle of the hopper good luck
I usually aim for 2 inches of depth and we try to keep the tillage tool from going to deep since most planters we go deeper if your tillage tool was . Corn likes firm ground to start
I was really satisfied with there beans. Easy 40 bushel minimuml no matter what. Last year I used the stine enlist beans and got 53 bushel but that was to change herbicide programs.
It's best to plant into firm soil ( where the good moisture is) depending on how deep you worked it and soil type.2 inches deep is usually about right.by not planting in moisture you are taking a chance of a heavy rain and crusting
We got a light shower the next day. I have worried about that in beans. My ground usually looks like dust when I done with it. It doesn't seem to crust though. At least not too bad for beans... Don't know on corn yet lol. It's gonna rain every other day until the corn is well out of the ground.
You’re doing good buddy, hang with it. Not much on those planters that can’t be fixed up to finish a field with hand tools and common stuff you have around. Try to avoid setting the planter down without moving at least a little. Setting still and setting it down can plug the seed/fertilizer delivery tubes and without a monitor, You may not now you’ve plugged a row until the corn comes up and there’s a row missing every pass. (Speaking from experience, right beside a major highway. Taught me the value of moving as I set it down!!
Not too appealing to the community lol. Good thing my corn is planted on a farm tucked back in a corner and nobody likes the landowner. Probably the only reason I have that piece of ground lol. He's a good old guy but strange and hard to work with.
It all got spread before disking and put on with the planter. The other half got liquid at V8 instead of the planter... Putting it on with the planter yielded high test weight. All same variety all planted same day.
How fast you planting? With an old planter like that I would plant at about 4mph.... inch and a half is a good depth! And put in enough end-rows so you can turn the combine around durning harvest.....Keep with it bud!
4mph the book says 4.5 with the rate setting I had it on but 4 seemed like I was flying. It was really relaxing to plant corn versus beans. I got the hang of it pretty quick.
Whats your plan for side dressing? Easy way would be to go get dry nitrogen and just broadcast spread it... but if you get good stand dont be cheap with the nitrogen, make sure put on enough that your corn can really produce....
I got it to 2" and anywhere where the ground was hard I praying the rain drives it in lol. I know rain will take beans deeper. It's gonna rain every other day until well after the corn is up according to the forecast.
If it were up to me, I'd rent you my home place, its 18 acres. My wife's grandmother leases it to the neighbor for 1800 a year. I'd let you farm it if I had the say so. I did see your posts on the farm land for rent FB group, lol
Look I’m going to tell u like it is .it’s a good effort but it is no way in hell a good job there’s got to be a farmer around there that grows corn that can give u a little help or if u got plenty of money keep the wheels turning and learn the hard way
I always ask as many sources as I can find. Some people take the time to offer advise and some just push me off thinking I'm an idiot and don't have the time to fool with me. I am trying to the best of my knowledge but I have also started from scratch. I appreciate the criticism and take no offense. Do you mind to tell me what I did so wrong?
Those old planters like vary soft ground. Almost powder
Yes they do!!!
Nice Milwaukee grease gun I have one just like it
It is a great tool to have when you have plenty of a bunch of maintenance.
At the end of each row fertilizer should dribble out when you pick the planter up that’s a quick way to know it’s flowing make sure if you took the augers out they go back in the correct way if not they just pack the fertilizer to the middle of the hopper good luck
You’re doing a great job buddy! You’ll learn it ,I’ve got confidence in GOD that he’ll see you through it !
Fertilizer should be about 2in from row
I usually aim for 2 inches of depth and we try to keep the tillage tool from going to deep since most planters we go deeper if your tillage tool was . Corn likes firm ground to start
Nice seeing you start planting the corn, best of luck
I've been using Ruff's for years. Corn has been R-235GT and beans has been 337-R2Y. They work pretty good here in nw ohio.
I was really satisfied with there beans. Easy 40 bushel minimuml no matter what. Last year I used the stine enlist beans and got 53 bushel but that was to change herbicide programs.
Love these vids. Keep on doing u man! Your doing awsome!
Perfect seed depth

Corn will just sit there until it rains.

@@wannabefarmer6056 you should be ok.its bad when get a hammering rain then sun and heat and no more rain in my experience

U need to be putting more fertilizer on like 250 300

I did 12 end rows and made it to where I can drive all the way around the field first 3 passes. We will see how my planting did when the corn is up.

I'm gonna knife in 28
Dang you ain’t putting out much fertilizer
I spread fertilizer then disked it in and put it on in the row when I planted.
706looks good on corn planter
Good move on going deeper, try for moisture if you can. Thx

No matter what a farmer says if they say they know what they’re doing they’re lying LOL. Best way to learn is to fail
I openly admit to be an amateur and I 100% agree lol thanks for watching!
