    10:41 Joe, the SteamDeck absolutely destroys the Switch OLED in performance, while the screen is technically better on the Switch, the processor within the Deck FAR outpaces the Switch with the added benefits of changing OSs and storefronts.

    should add the steam deck does have motion controls it has gyroscopic aim feature just like the switch it was used in a tech demo for doom just like the how the switch uses it for better aiming in fps. and it automatically usable in any game unlike the switch where it is only functional in certain games.

    The Steam Deck absolutely has and will continue to curb stomp the Switch OLED in pretty much EVERY regard as for the library yes a few games were incompatible at first but patches have since fixed most if not all of them also the fact that the Steam Deck is an open platform meaning you can put just about ANYTHING on it and Valve themselves have given their blessing to put things like GOG, Origin and Game Pass on the Steam Deck and lets not forget you can emulate pretty much ANY console on the Steam Deck, as for it's power from what I have read The Steam Deck is as powerful as a mid-range gaming PC or a base PS4/Xbox One whereas the Switch is only as powerful as a PS3 or 360.

  • @CaptainB1994
    @CaptainB1994 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    He does realsie that the Steam Deck has Gyro controls and the steam deck has orders backed up for the next 9 months, oh yeah and the Steam deck is not a direct competitor to the Switch it's aimed at PC players like myself who want to take their PC games on the go.

    Well before my PC died I was a gaming youtuber. I plan to go back to it when I can get a new machine up. Point is I rarely spoke about Nintendo unless they were doing something dumb. However, that isn't because I hate Nintendo. I even own a Switch and like it. I just think brand loyalty is foolish. You do something harmful to customers and\or the industry, you get called out.
    I will never understand loyalty to a brand.
    Oh. It's also a little unfair to compare 2 consoles only a very small number can get to the Switch. The latter has also been around longer so I would hope it would be doing better. It's just an iffy comparison.
    Lastly, this guy must live in the most well-made echo chamber ever to get the ideas about the VR headset and the "all things revolve around Nintendo" weirdness.

    I'm sure I'm the minority here, but the Steam Deck will essentially be a replacement for my Switch. I love the Switch and have gotten a lot of mileage out of it, but the main reason I used it so much was because I could play games like Doom Eternal, and The Witcher on it. Now that the deck can do that, plus a lot more, I really have no reason to keep playing my Switch outside of a few exclusive games.
    Again, I'm the minority, I'm sure, but still.

  • @SrslyTony
    @SrslyTony 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    For me who uses the steam deck as a primary gaming item, but the switch itself still has its purposes.
    * first party switch games
    * games by Epic Games
    * local co-op for babysitting cousins
    Every other niche is completely covered by my steam deck
    * hefty titles run better and smoother on the Deck than on switch (The Witcher 3, the Outer Worlds)
    * pvp games that need to be bought can be played online for free instead of behind an arbitrary subscription (Dead by Daylight, Plants vs Zombies [the shooters], Duck Game)
    * indie games have profile achievements to strive for and some quirky trading cards and profile design things to fiddle around with if that's what you prefer.
    I LIKE having both...but I clearly enjoy the friendlier ecosystem

  • @LaggyKar
    @LaggyKar 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Lacking motion controls is not a good thing. Gyro aim is objectively superior to aiming with a joystick, and it's to bad most game developers are refusing to support it. That said, as others have mentioned here, the Steam Deck has motion sensing, and Steam input can add gyro aim to games which doesn't support it natively. Though unfortunately a lot of games block simultaneous controller and mouse input for some reason, which would restrict you to to using the subpar Joystick Camera input.

    • @JoeFromSeattle
      @JoeFromSeattle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah that was a jab at motion controls being shit and gimmicky most of the time but Steam Deck still has motion controls to my understanding so 🤷‍♂

    • @LaggyKar
      @LaggyKar 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JoeFromSeattle Sure, that sort controller shake as a fancy extra button is not great, though I personally don't really have a problem with it. But there are some some things motion controls are good for, like aiming.

    Nintendo fanboys need to calm down. It’s not even out yet. We don’t know how well the controls work (will there be drift issues like with the Switch?) or how long the battery’s going to last playing graphics heavy games. When I was a WoW junkie I didn’t see all my Hordies going crazy every time a WoW killer was released.

      the drift thing isn't exclusive to nintendo it's with excessive use it will happen, can't be helped. gotta hope it's easier to swap out joysticks in the steam deck Vs the Switch.
      The battery life will be okay for what it is then various play sessions, brightness, power draw etc then the list of steam deck supported games it'll do well but let's hope.

    This is the first handheld ive been hyped for since the vita was announced, before it flopped. Nintendo just doesn’t appeal to me because i haven’t been into Nintendo games since i was younger. Its not because i “Hate” Nintendo, but rather that i just prefer more intense/immersive games that pc has to offer. I don’t get how this guy manages to have a problem with hardware that simply isn’t relevant to him.

  • @thejackimonster9689
    @thejackimonster9689 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I mostly agree with you. But technically the only reason the Steam Deck does not replace the Switch I own is that Nintendo does not sell legal copies of their games to people on PC. If I had no legal issues with ROMs, I would pick up the emulators and play the exclusive games I bought for the Switch on the Steam Deck.
    ...and this fact is actually kind of sad when you think about that the OLED Switch was announced a few days before the Steam Deck got announced. It's one thing that the regular Switch is underpowered in comparison but if I don't care as much about the OLED screen (which is nice to have being honest), Nintendo kind of only has value to me because of their legal department and limited game access.
    So yeah, I will probably keep my Switch (because I don't want to loose my save files... which is another huge issue I have with the Switch honestly) but I will probably stop buying anything at all in its store, once I have the Steam Deck. Because each game I will buy on Steam, GOG, itch.io or Epic Store will have more value than any game I buy in the Switch's store, looking at it long term. One day my Switch (more specifically the battery) will die and I loose all games on it and all save files. On the Steam Deck however, I can sync my games and files with any PC and even backup everything to an external drive or other systems.
    It really annoys me that it wouldn't have to be like that if Nintendo allowed similar things via software... starting with game saves on the SD card for example. Because the hardware is good enough for its games and it's a nice experience to play on it. I just don't like the services... the fact that the Steam Deck is powerful enough to play current games in about PS4 quality is just a bonus to me.

    Motion controls, multiple trackpads, 4 back buttons and using steam input allows you to play games that is normally a mnk only game that would be impossible to play on a normal controller.

To me a console fanboy is someone who roots for "their" chosen company to "win" and expresses so openly. That doesn't exactly translate to PCs however as there's no single company that produces them. So you just have to ask everyone individually what their definition is, I suppose
