  • I've been asked to share any tips and tricks I've used to build my subscriber count, to be honest my TH-cam channel has grown due to hard work, determination and the love and support of the creative community I'm part of.
    However because I'm not a tech person I've done a lot of research, trial and error to find a way of working that works for me, it may not be the only way but I'm more than willing to share my findings in the hope that they may help you develop your own channel.

    Hi Ceri! 👋. Great video with lots of good tips! There is a reason you’ve been so successful. Many reasons actually, but a big one is you’re real, honest and incredibly talented. Love you, my friend, and so very honored to be your pal! ❤

      Gayle you are also a shining example of how you can grow a channel with no editing, congratulations to both of us is in order I feel. Thank you for your support over the years. ❤️

    I wrote this during the opening of your video.
    The most important thing I can say without hesitation is that you are a very competent, highly trusted, genuine voice/person. To me, this is what keeps me coming back to your channel. Yes there are others that can be added to the list, but your name is at the top.
    I have never felt disappointment or irritation with your videos. There are some channels I just can't listen to for any length of time or I can listen to but not watch. Personal choice in the end.
    But you are consistent AND a total JOY even when you dont think you are. You deserve any accolades coming your way.

      Oh thank you so much for your comment, I try to be the person I would in turn like to watch and listen to. I’m blessed to have been given a gift and a talent and if sharing that helps others then that gives me pleasure and joy.

    I have no interest whatsoever in creating a TH-cam channel, but this was so great to watch. And, more importantly, I found it to be instructional and applicable to life in general. It’s all about how one treats people, and how one would like to be treated by others. It’s about respect. Wonderful way to spend this hour, and I want to thank you, Ceri, for putting this on your channel, and for being true to yourself.

    Not only do you deserve the success you have achieved, so far, you desrve more! Your videos are a perfect balance of chat and education, which is somewhat rare on TH-cam. I watch ALOT of videos, and there are some other channels that have a good balance of chat (several of which you have recommended) and information, but your videos are up at the top. I am grateful for your channel and look forward to seeing what you present in the future.😊

    Ceri, people can do all the things you've suggested and still not gain a following. The "secret" to your success is your "tip" on being genuine which is very much echoed in the comments. I just watched an hour + video on how to grow a youtube channel I don't even have! I have also watched TONS of your videos and have actually attempted maybe two of them but I keep coming back to watch the next video you put out because it's you I've come to see. Besides always being positive and the way you instruct, I love your quirky quips that always make me laugh because they're so random and unexpected. You exude calmness in the sense that this is a "safe space" and it's very much like sitting by a warm fire with a cup of hot chocolate. I know tons of us on here would love to be your snail mail friend but then you would have no time for videos! So coming to see your videos is the next best thing. It's a moment with a friend who doesn't know is my friend. 😁 You can do a video on watching paint dry and i will sit right here with you watching it dry because I know some interesting comments are in store. 😁 Your hard work isn't the only reason you're successful. It's you being you. ❤

    Can you believe that I watched the whole video despite me not planning to ever post a video 😄 I once saw a comedian suggest to trim down the 10 commandments to just one, that being "Don't be a c*nt" (Carlin? I can't remember) and that's what I like about your channel most: You never talk bad about people and you don't just assume things. And the music-comment is so true, sometimes the music snippet the creator uses is extremely short and it loops and loops and loops and "argh"...
    Thank you for all the work you put into your videos, it really shows 🥰

    Ceri, you are certainly one of my very favorite people on TH-cam. I love your teaching methods. I'm not one who enjoys fast forwarding, or music with no talking. I like to hear what and why the person does things a certain way. You do a fantastic job of explaining as you go along. I do feel like we are getting the "real Ceri," which, as you said, makes a huge difference in whether a video is enjoyable or not. I don't plan to ever have a channel, but listened to this video because I enjoy your company while I'm crafting. 🙂Also, it was good for me to learn more about what goes into making videos. My hat is off to all who are able to make a quality video. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. Your efforts are very much appreciated! Love and hugs❤❤

    Dearest Ceri, this was one of the best videos! Thank you so much. Even if some of the information was not new to me, it iso good to hear again with your viewpoint. You are right, having a you tube channel is hard work. My daughter and I work together and it’s still hard work for us both. Probably more so for her because she constantly has to remind, reteach, and re answer my questions! We are very excited as we are closing in on 1,000 subies! Can’t begin to imagine 72,000. Congratulations! Have you done any research about consistency and how many videos per week are best for a successful channel? You are extremely talented and a very genuine, caring person. Michel from Epapere.

    • @CeriGriffiths
      @CeriGriffiths  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you Michel, the amount of videos per week depends on your goal, I used to do three a week I’ve recently dropped to two a week as I’ve now started a blog and needed time in my schedule to write it. I personally think it’s not the amount of videos but that you post regularly that counts.

    Hello Ceri, I can not imagine how much work it takes to make a video. You say you are not a |tech" person, but to me, your are extremely" techie". Editing, preping, decision making are all elements that are implemented by a person that knows what they are doing. Thats just part of why I watch you. Oh Ceri, I love how diplomatic you are and how much you truly value the community of makers, watchers, and content creators! I so appreciate this video and your insights. I have thought so many times about putting some content out there, but have shied away every time. I worry about 3 things (mostly): the equipment needed, the possible negativity from viewers, and whether I have anything to show/say that people will care about hearing/seeing. Much of what you have said here are things that I really needed to hear from a pro like you and I have learned things that I didn’t know that I needed to know. Thank you so much for compiling this list of “best practices” and for caring enough to share it. I wish you a great holiday and a fabulous new year 😊

    Thank you, Darling! New to your channel and I've enjoyed listening tonight while puzzling out my recent journal cover conundrum. Lots of food-4-thought for me, as I'm toying with starting a channel. I whole-heartedly agree with your concepts of tolerance and acceptance. When we get it right, it brings creative souls together; and we need more tolerance and acceptance across the world. Diolch yn fawr iawn! 🥰

    Thanks so much, love your videos and these are great tips. Congrats on the 72k subscribers, that’s awesome! I’ve had a channel for a few years, majority of my content is fused (kiln-formed) glass related. But I just don’t have the time to generate content constantly as I’m still working full time in an IT job. So of course after staring at a computer for 8-10 hours or more a day, I don’t get a lot of creating or filming done during the week. And the last thing I want to do is open up my laptop and work on editing (and I also prefer to edit, I use iMovie as well.) I need to think about the thumbnails more. I usually use my title slide as my thumbnail which doesn’t have any images of my work. I think I’m going to spend some time in January planning out my videos for next year. Baby steps! Anyhow thanks for the inspiration and motivation, not only for the creative stuff but marketing and branding too. 💗

    Ceri, thank you so very much for sharing these tips. I have been considering starting a TH-cam channel, but I just haven't had the nerve to do so and honestly, just don't even know what or where to start. I currently work a full-time job and I know that just doing TH-cam wouldn't pay me enough to live as I currently do and also know that it would take an enormous amount of time and effort to get going. Maybe someday I will. I have shared this video with my son, as he has been considering (seriously) either TH-cam or some other type of video sharing platform. All of the information you have shared is very valuable and I am so glad I stopped by to watch. Love all that you do, you are so very talented. Best to you.

    Hi Ceri! Thank you so much for this video. I have wanted to start a TH-cam channel and I’m in the same boat of not being “techy “. I’m inspired by you so very much. I have done so much research I feel that I have “paralysis because of analysis “. UGH. I’m very intimidated by editing. I’ve never been bored by your videos at ALL. I feel so inspired after listening to you. Thank you so much,

    • @CeriGriffiths
      @CeriGriffiths  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are TH-cam channels that never edit but I find simple editing saves wasted time within a video, I use iMovie to do my editing, it’s free. There are many simple free editing systems out there. At the end of the day all I do is cut pieces of videos out that are unnecessary, add a fade transition, usually I boost the volume a little then save it.

    That was very interesting Ceri, thanks for that info, even though I'm not about to start a TH-cam channel I found it very interesting, I like no music too, I found one I listened to had this tinkly bell thing going on exactly the same as the school across the road from me and I do find that off putting as it's like surround sound tinkly bells. Another thing I do like is that your desk is always organised, even if there's stuff going on, it's organised, I'm thinking I might have a bit of OCD as well, but I think as a viewer I struggle with watching a messy creative space, but that's just me, and definitely not meant to offend anyone. Thanks again Ceri, for such great info.

    Thank you Ceri. This has been most helpful. 🥰 Hubby and I uploaded our first TH-cam video at the beginning of December. So far we feel we're doing quite well. A lot of the points you made, we already do, but there were a couple that we both said "we need to look at that". As I said, your video has been quite helpful. I'm going to bookmark this one so we can come back to it when we need to. Thanks again! 😻

    Ceri, this video was excellent content. Personally, I have no interest in having my own TH-cam channel but when you outlined the points near the beginning of your video relating to the labour-intensive time you put in, it clarified for me the reasons your videos are so much more appealing than other channels I sometimes watch. I prefer not to watch most live videos because there is too much chatter that doesn’t relate to the material about to be presented. It’s not a surprise that you have 72K subscribers - it’s just desserts for the effort you put into your content as well as your presentation! Your dedication to the quality of your videos is very much appreciated. P.S. as you mentioned, viewers watch what’s behind you - case in point: your Christmas cactus looks to be in full bloom and is beautiful! TFS

    I’m very selective in the artists I follow and you are one of them because of how “real” you keep it. You forgot one thing though. The TH-camr’s personality. I watch artists based solely on their personalities and not necessarily their content. I may never duplicate what they teach, but I enjoy watching them just the same.
