Man, Danny! I played the other day and used alot of your tips. My chipping is so much better, my driving is getting good distance, I feel more comfortable in my swing! Thank you good sir!!!
This is a very timely video for me Danny..I've dropped from 22 to 15 since January after 25 plus years of playing golf. The only thing holding me back from going any lower is my chipping it kills me every game. Like the gentleman in your video I can now see I don't swing long enough and am too short and jerry. Thanks as always and have a great weekend
I literally went out after watching this video. I hit 40 balls with dropping the club!! It's true that it was my problem . Back on track Danny thx so much
My chipping has improved dramatically with the genius of previous lessons. This will help solidify the process. Set up is everything. I'm finding that the shaft lean and the weight on lead foot is the key. Choke down a bit and putt with a little bit of a fish tail motion in the wrist and it works every time. This is a great lesson to add to that.
Since I started watching you, I have increased my driver distance by 25 yards, hitting my irons more consistently and lower my handicap by two strokes. With this video I hope to improve my chipping accuracy. Thanks for your instruction!!
Great reminder thanks! ive been struggling lately since i got a new 60z wedge and insist 2 use it all the time, open, closing, pulling of "trickshots" lol, and its so unnecessary! have a new 56s on my way i the mail and going back 2 these more simple "put shots". Also thanks for the putting video u made earlier, really helped. that 1 2 3 4 counting technique where u look at the hole, look back than 1 2 hit it, really made a good and consistent routine with same tempo every time..Cheers and have a good day Dan the Man☺
Your vids have helped me so much. Im currently working very hard on chipping. Im the guy that always ends up either infront, to the sides or back of the green. Being able to hit a more proper chip shot helps so much. Thanks for all the advice.
It’s taken me awhile to learn the techniques you taught in this short video. I was fortunate enough to see the bunker shot video and took it to the course yesterday. The first bunker i landed in was the 2nd hole a par 3. Tee shot caught the left bunker. I put the lesson to use ball forward, hands low, maintain angle on wrists keeping low and swing with body. Strike the sand just behind the ball and out the ball came within inches of the hole. Tap in par. What a great tip. By the way I use the techniques you teach in this video in chipping. I previously would not even think of using a wedge around the green because of fat shots, blading, etc. I now try to hole the shots especially just on the fringe. You’re a top notch coach.
Its already helped my shots!! thank you Danny!! .. he said it though, he wouldn't have the confidence to do that in real life, that's where I lack too, confidence, but how do you get more confident? PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE !!
This is phenomenal! I’ve used your philosophy of “putting with loft” but I was missing something. So, thank you for this video as I will refer back to this often as I get more confident in chopping near the green with different lies.
Love the student lesson at the end! So rewarding to see the smile on both your faces after the lesson “clicks” for him. Awesome video as always! I’ve always had difficulty thinning my chips, and this will help tremendously. Thanks Danny!
Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦. I used your chipping techniques this past Wednesday and they worked out great. Thanks so much. Now I’m moving on your towel drill to get more club head speed and hopefully more yardage off the tee. Keep up the good work !
Thank you for the wonderful tips! I have been struggling around the greens lately. I need to put these tips into practice! Always great advice from you!
Did you see me play yesterday? Next to green in 2 then another 4 to get down - all because my chipping was so bad (ok the greens were very dry and fast and fringe quite long so chip distance was a key point but it destroyed my confidence) so I wanted to look for inspiration to get my confidence back. Perfect timing video Danny - Keep It Simple Stupid for me, chip like a putt and let the club do the work. Just need a bit of practice.
Danny, Thanks for this very clear and helpful chipping video. I am new to the game (only a few months in) but was out on the course this morning after watching the video. I was chipping effortlessly with balls landing as if they had been parachuted in. Totally gonked my playing partners who now reckon that I may be a bit of a bandit.
Okay. I wrote this down in my phone Notes for when I play today. My chipping game has been sketchy at best and more frustrating than satisfying! Let's rock it! Thanks!
Funny how so often your videos are exactly what I’m currently working on. Just practiced my short chips yesterday and this video will help so much more for practicing today. Thanks as always Danny!
@@DanielMaude Sunday (day 3) at range short game area significantly better. Day 2 used a field nearby to chip a single ball around and around, easier lie given grass height. Thanks so much Danny!
Very helpful to have one technique that works for most circumstances - excellent ! Danny, unrelated but in all the time I've watched your channel, I've not seen anything on Shank shots both outside in and (for me) in to out ! Can you consider this please ?
Hi Danny The chipping is definitely getting better. I have had a couple of good results in the last couple of weeks. Steady all round improvement, but still could do with some help. 6
Thanks, Danny. My game this week was compromised by my poor chipping techniques if you will. I could have dropped more than 6 strokes had they been better. I believe these tips will help.
Thanks for this lesson Danny! It seems that I get at least one or two chunks a round with my chipping. In watching this video, it appears that I have to pay more attention to the sole of the club! Well Done Danny!
Danny, thanks for your lessons. They’ve been very helpful to this 71 year old 7 handicap. One question: on the third shot (using the bounce) it sounded like the club hit the ground before it hit the ball. In other words the club seemed to reach its lowest point before the ball. Is that what we want on that particular shot?
Superb instruction, just one question what distance was your client chipping from so I can get an idea of swing length back for that distance and adjust from there . thank you

Thank you, Danny. So what is the difference between Shot #3 where you add wrist bending and Shot #1? Use #3 when you need more height to the ball trajectory? Would you use #3 technique for your #1 shot or would that go too far?

Mr M, Can you help with the 3,4 or 5 blow up holes I keep having. Double and triple bogeys. Play 12 or 13 consistent holes, then an errant shot turns up. Could be a tee shot, 2nd or 3rd into a green or even a putt. Ray
@danielmaude I love the chipping lesson, but you are chipping off the short grass in front of the green. How about teaching how to chip out of the thick grass from behind a green side bunker- that’s where us high handicappers live!
The hardest part to actually teach is the nice smooth confident flowing swing. Once jerkiness appears its extremely difficult to remove.,thats why many poor chippers never really get any better im afraid. Ive suffered for over 50 years and ruin 99% of my rounds and still played of high single figures for most of it.1 or 2 up & downs. out of 10 is my normal. A brilliant day is 5/10😢
Hi Eric, did you know that most jerkiness is caused because of an impulse to strike the ball. This is often because you are out of position at the top of your swing and your body is reacting to try and make solid contract Great set up and then a trust that you will strike it without the need for any manipulation will naturally remove the jerkiness
Dan, I’ve been following you for years and would to suggest something you’ve been doing for awhile that may put your students at unease. STOP asking them, it makes them nervous, as if they’re under a test. Give them instructions and at the end ask them if they understood and/or if they have any questions. Even when you’re teaching your dad, he gets nervous at your questions. No one wants to get them wrong.
Danny is a coach, coaches ask questions to lead the student to the answer themselves, instructing is telling, do x y or z which the student will do without much understanding or retention either. I’m a driver trainer and thats how I try to coach my subject. Also you have to work out the learning style of the student which I suspect is what Danny will have done off camera
I agree. I would find that uncomfortable - I’d be worried about saying the wrong thing and feeling stupid. I love Danny’s videos but that’s the one thing that would bug me. He can take a different approach - instead of asking “how else can you increase distance?” He could say “and what happens if you reduce the loft slightly?” Or eliminate the question entirely with “try reducing the loft slightly and see what happens”
Thanks for the feedback, I put them at ease at the start of the lesson by letting them know I’m going to ask them questions. It’s important they take ownership of their own learning and associate with the feelings, images and sounds they are getting from the drills we work on. They know the environment is safe and there are no wrong answers
So both of you aren’t confident in comprehension testing? Asking questions is a check point to see if they actually understand and how much they understand at that point if maybe the coach might need to take a step back. Getting someone to verbally acknowledge certain check points is fine, life is a lot tougher than a coach giving you “test questions”.
Man, Danny! I played the other day and used alot of your tips. My chipping is so much better, my driving is getting good distance, I feel more comfortable in my swing! Thank you good sir!!!
