    Dan's the best professional golf teacher I've found. His book and TH-cam videos have helped me tremendously. I'd love to attend his short game clinic sometime. God Bless!

    Like many have mentioned, I have learnt so much and improved my short game immensely through reading your book and watching your TH-cam content. I now hit my pitch shots lower (used to lob them too high.) and hit them with a tiny draw. I have found with a the narrower stance, 60% weight on lead leg and elbows in to my body with a good rotation really produces nice pitch shots, oh and soft hands!! Cheers Dan, you really know what you’re on about.

    The tee peg “gate” drill for starting the ball on line is money! When I do that for just 3-5 mins each time I am warming up my putting, it really sets me off in the right mindset and feel.

    Holy COW this is great stuff. The short putts - i feel defensive so i don't blow it by the hole. Any advice? You say putt with authority but if i hammer to the back of the hole and miss - it will be a disaster 3 putt.

    Dan from Alaska here, Dan (love your first name, by the way!). First of all, I love the content. As usual, this video was beneficial. My issue with putting from distance is making sure I am lined up on the line I want to hit. I can stand behind the ball to pick a line, but I struggle to stand beside the ball and feel confident I am aiming the ball correctly. I have tried to pick a spot a short distance in front of my ball, but most greens don't have a distinctive marking that I can keep an eye on as I walk from the back to the address. Any tips?

    • @vanbalzup6481
      @vanbalzup6481 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There’s only one spot to pick. That’s the hole. You shouldn’t trick your mind into thinking the ball should be going any where else. If you just start picking spots, your body get’s confused. My method is to pick my line. Set up to my line. Look down my line, but focus on the hole. Don’t look at the hole, just focus on it in your periphery as you keeping looking down the line. Then look at the ball, keeping the hole still in outer focus, then strike. To me, it feels like the hole becomes part of my body, which just knows how to will the ball into it. (I’ve caddied on Tour btw)

      @@vanbalzup6481 Thanks for the comment. I don't doubt your expertise, but I wonder if your explanation answers my question. Could you clarify? Let me give you an example of my dilemma. I stand behind the ball and make a determination on a 40-foot putt that the ball will break about 3 feet from right to left. I visualize the path of the ball from this position. Right or wrong, I have determined my aim. However, when I walk back to my ball and look down at it to ensure my feet are in the right place, I have lost my line. I don't know if my feet are facing perpendicular to my line or not. The problem, in a nutshell, is setting up my line so I can hit the ball on the line. This issue decreases on shorter putts. The further away, the harder it is for me to set up properly.

      There’s always a bit of grass that’s a different shade to the rest. But it’s unmemorable, so if you divert your gaze away you can’t find it again - you need to keep looking at the line while you walk up to it, and keep focussing on that bit of grass while you take your address position….that’s how I do it anyway. But I’m no world expert so keen to hear others’ tips

    • @danreed2189
      @danreed2189 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@therealbonj I try to do that, but I have to look away to make sure that my feet are the right distance from the ball at address. Maybe I'm overthinking it. Get my feet perpendicular to the point I'm looking at, then check my feet/ball relationship and just trust it. Thanks for the tip.

    Great video Dan, on the most important part of the most important part of the game.
    You obviously made the video at sunset, and it was a little hard to see the ball marker. How far behind the marker do you start the ball? Keep up the great work.

    Hi Dan, how important is it to be able to address the putter at its lie angle - neither toe-up nor toe-down? I've been working with a mirror at home but just can't get the feel on the green. Any tips for visual check?

    At 13:20, you talk about the length of the practice stroke and how you determine the length, much like the "Goldilocks" method; it's too hard, too soft, just right. I use that many times in my chipping to decide how "hard" to hit the ball. I wonder if that's a method you would advocate? 👍🏽

    How important is a putter fitting when thinking of a new putter? I’m not sure whether I need a toe hang or face balanced putter, then there is blade, mallet etc, length. Lots to consider.

    • @davidoconnor3201
      @davidoconnor3201 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Getting fitted for a putter is the best thing I ever did for my golf game. I always used face balanced mallet putters because I preferred the look of them, but after a proper fitting I ended up with a blade putter with a small amount of toe hang because I have a slight arc in my stroke. Transformed my putting completely. It also gave me the motivation to practice more. Get fitted, buy a good putting mat and practice a few times a week 👍🏻
