Jisoo is standing in the water with a NOTHING sign behind her. It has electrical wires on it which fell in the water but due to all the heartbreak she went through, nothing can hurt her anymore...
@@bpcbwhen6287 so like, the only notable thing about this song for you is the language that's some clownery, especially having so many songs that are not in Korean in this album 🤔
That song is "THAT" BITCH HAHAHAHAHAHA i love that they have addressed their haters. They must feel like really really lucky because BP acknowledge them and made song about them. How THOUGHTFUL they are.
"If you are going to judge Blackpink (music wise), you have to understand they are not a Kpop artist anymore or a western artist anymore; they are global artists." Oopsssss
The thing with blackpink is that no matter how much they change, people will still try to look for something that they don't like, and remark it. The way they analyse literally everything is beyond stupid. It's music man, it's very simple. If you genuinely like it, go listen to it, if you don't, JUST DON'T. I've read many people say "I'd tried to listen it many times but it still doesn't grow on me" that's not how music works my people. Kpop fans especially always claim that bp's music sound the same, with the same formula, boring, basic lyrics, yet they are always the first to give their review on the songs. Like, if you think their music is boring and repetitive why in the world are you listening to it? You know, normally, if you don't like something you'd probably don't even pay attention to it, these fans however show quite the opposite. But whatever, I really liked the album, it reminded me of 2013's pop, which I love. I hope we can hear more from them, and obviously I hope their company could let them be more envolved in their music.
I think it's because the producers experiment in the wrong way. A lot of those people are just fans who expect an entirely different song (like the ones that got them into the group) for example their last songs that made it into mv's: 4Du into KTL into HYLT, all quite similar to each other but nothing at all like what fans who got here because of stuff like playing with fire or stay would want. The opposite is also true, this song imo fits in well with their earlier stuff, which newer fans might not be waiting for.
@@sqfzerzefsdf because D4 Era was a hit especially on my country, and i think that why the producer want to use the same formula, because they thing they will get more hype from the audience, but i don't think so, KTL was set for coachella, and because their Agency Scandal last year, the girls can't release more song last year
Maybe u want to check this review from classical musician, th-cam.com/video/GfispiCE4lY/w-d-xo.html , they mention about the formula too from the girls
I overall agree, but saying that you shouldn't continue to listen to a song just because you didn't like it the first time is weird. Songs do grow on people and may end up being their favorite song by that artist. I didn't like KTL and HYLT when it came out but I continued to play it here and there cause I want to support BP. I now like the songs way more. I will continue to check out their music, because I like the majority of it despite the last couple of songs. Again though, like I said, I overall agree with you with everything else
@@staciii yes, of course, I just put it in a general way, sorry if it was too extreme. It also happened to me many times that I heard songs which I hated at first listen but then after a while they really caught my attention. It's just that with bp there's always these people that keep forcing themselves into liking it. I consider it'll be better if you just let it happen, don't force it too much, listen the song if you think you might like not because of anything else. I hope what I wrote was understandable as English is not my first language lol.
I am not a KPOP fan, but the girl with the pink hair made me fall in love with her voice. It's so unique. So I started listening to their new album. Man, never heard of that kind of tone in my entire life. One of a kind. I might stan.
This sort of comment makes me really happy, when 1 person tries to bring Blackpink down another 10 like yourself who just happen to stumble upon them will enjoy blackpink's music and honestly 9 out of 10 times they would end up becoming a 'blink', blink = blackpink fan
This has to be their best title track, it had this sound that was really nostalgic, and the lyrics are so relatable. Absolutely loved it and the rest of the album!
You can feel the nostalgia, because the rap part after the first chorus sounds like 2012.... And if you dig deeper, David Guetta took part in the production... you can definitely feel the nostalgia especially with the synth in the rap part after the first chorus.
Lovesick girls is the best Blackpink title track in my opinion! It had so much color and flavor and isn’t just a casual drop! Excited to see the reaction ^^
This sound is reminiscent of early 2010s EDM pop with a little flare of early 90s-00's pop that's why it sounds so familiar hahaha. David Guetta also took part in producing this song and than it itself is the reason why this is a familiar melody.
It has that 80s synth wave, like Cyndi Lauper’s Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, me thinks, which is why I appreciate this song more than HYLT. Edit: I commented before finishing watching the reaction, didnt realize PD already mentioned it ha ha
Agreed. But, I think there's more to Jisoo. Like she thought she moved on already. That's what in her mind but her last shot shows otherwise. It shows her shedding tears with a very sad expression. I think she knows she hasn't moved on yet but she's pushing it. So much that it's killing her more actually than the actual break up.
And this is why I'm subscribed to PD. He is capable of higher level thinking. I've been into Kpop since 2008 and the international fanbase, from my experience, used to not be this damn toxic. Anything involving BlackPink always has so much negativity. I feel bad for these girls and I'm not even a BLINK. I hope they stay off the interweb. This is like when comic books and manga/anime somehow became mainstream and I had to deal with this influx of new rapid fans.
more ppl like u need to exist. Although i did start to like k-pop this february of 2020, I have liked anime sing 2014 ish and yeah its sometimes hard to deal with rapid fans who dont take time to look into anything older or research the group itself.
Exactly. PD is also one of my trusted TH-cam reactor. He knows what hes talking about, and he doesnt really favor somebody just for fame or more subcribers. He enjoys the music with a very open-minded heart and soul. I'm not Korean, but I am so happy that these Kpop groups like BLACKPINK and BTS can break through the Western market. Cuz their music is not just for Kpop; its such a waste if music is only for a certain countries or certain people. No, its UNIVERSAL. Dont even think Kpop idols are only for Koreans or Asians. Nahhhhh! Its MUSIC, everybody has the right to enjoy the music no matter where or who sings it. And to be honest, BLACKPINK is one and only group that I feel they're putting so much effort, their hearts and their souls into it. These girls have so much passion of what they're doing unlike those idols doing it for reputation. I dont know how to explain it, but you can clearly tell THE ALBUM is actually BLACKPINK using their music to talk/communicate to people who have the same situations like them. And I guarantee you PD will be one of them, he will definitely love the whole album cuz its just unbelievably good. These days, Kpop is all about rankings and regconizations especially those teenagers who are super hunger and so competitive. I wish they can just sit down and enjoy the music instead.
damn. that whole section about the kind of mindset to view blackpink was so good to listen to. when i first heard the two pre-releases i absolutely felt that bitterness and negativity that people had upon hearing it too, so i'm really thankful for pd's reactions because that alternate perspective really opened up my eyes to the fact that blackpink has an entirely different context than most other kpop groups, to the point where you really have to consider different factors before holding them to the same standards, or else you get your expectations crushed. the best way i can think about it is like expecting a lemon meringue to be super sweet because it's considered a dessert, but then hating it without taking into account that it's literally made of lemons. but once you do, that's when you might realize, "oh, this dessert made consuming lemon juice so much more pleasurable. this ain't half bad." but anyways i fell in LOVE with lovesick girls, and i'm glad i wasn't the only one that thought of girls just wanna have fun at the chorus!
I don’t get the “it’s too western” argument as if kpop wasn’t based off of western music and still takes inspo from it, sure they’re are some stylistic variances but generally the pop is not that wildly different. I remember bts getting absolute shit for this in 2017 when they first broke our here and now bp too like damn y’all chilllllll
Yeah, inspired by... but KPop usually takes it to the next level with more interesting chord progressions, more interesting genres mixed in and more creative sound design. When they strip this back and return to the simplicity / safeness of more basic Western production then it loses its appeal (for me).
To be honest, the reason I fell in love with kpop was that it was something quite different style of "modern music" in comparison to western music I've listened to everyday and was already tired of. So if they kinda start blending together it loses appeal to me too, because I don't want kpop to loose it's originality just to appeal to wider audience... And if you call you can say that YG has big western influences, but neither Bigbang or 2NE1 songs were really that much "western sounding" as some recent kpop songs. But I still like BP even though I didn't like their last few songs. I just hope that kpop as whole will not become just another part of nowadays"western" music...
@Pamela GC I started with KPop around the same time as you Pamela - with 2ne1, 4minute and T-ara. Back then, KPop had much more of a synth pop vibe, which was quite different to Western pop at the time. Actually I started to lose interest with 2ne1 around 'Crush' - since they were adopting that simpler stripped back style that Teddy has carried over to Blackpink. You're right that YG and Teddy are more in to this style than the other production companies. Yeah, pop is what it is and it has its target audience; but at its best it can be more than just a simple throw away tune. It's like a classic Disney movie... while they're aimed at a younger audience perhaps, the great ones also have layers of jokes and references that adults will enjoy too - along with a quality that creates a long term cultural reference. I think it's good to be demanding (in a positive way - not hating!), and Blackpink keep delivering! Happy to continue supporting them! :)
For some reason, when I listen to this song I get a feeling of nostalgia.. Something about the beat and the lyrics, it makes me feel emotional but also happy. It’s so weird, I felt like I was reminiscing about a memory that I haven’t even experienced yet lol
i appreciate the fact that you mentioned the divide in their music and said that moving forward we are going to be getting both western and more kpop-y songs. at this point blackpink is a global group and have many international fans that appreciate and love their sound regardless if it comes from their roots or if it is marketed to be more successful around the world. with all that aside, i honestly loved all of their pre-releases and LSG in different ways. that’s the charm about bp, i never know what to expect but i end up jamming to it anyway lol. “this is kpop, this is music, let’s just enjoy all music” love that!
The last part you said, I fuck with that. Honestly, I feel like that. I dont care what song Bp throws at me, I'll eat it up and I'm gonna jam becz its Bp, my girls and I knw they work so hard.
Along with what PD said about their name becoming a representative of their styles between kpop and global, I also feel ike it matches the fact that the lyrics (Black) are really dark and interesting even if their music (Pink) sounds so joyful and appealing. Kind of like the way Red Velvet has it's joyful songs with a dark side.
@@ponyopopi221 i didn't say it's trash because honestly, i love every blackpink song. I just said that even if they dropped an abc song there i would still jam with it. I just used bad because of the people's opinion about how u like that
The girls emote so much through their voices. Jennie and Lisa in the first verse and Jisoo in the bridge sound very heartfelt. But Rosé takes it to another level and every line she has just feels full of pain. And her acting is just so good, get this girl in a movie asap.
I completely agree. as a blink who is also a very intense multi-stan (army, reveluv, meU, midzy, shawol, etc.), it's honestly insane to see how Kpop fans treat blackpink compared to other groups. people expect so much out of blackpink, probably more than any other Kpop group (yes, including BTS). and yes, I believe that blackpink is held to a higher standard to BTS when it comes to music, bc there's not nearly as much negativity when BTS releases new music. and rlly it's infuriating to see how many ppl just hate them for no reason, like it's almost the "consensus" among Kpop fans nowadays that they're overrated or it's okay to hate on them. ppl will go completely out of their way to find something ab them they don't like and use it as an excuse to justify hating on them, and somehow this has become accepted by many Kpop fans. it's become cool to think that blackpink is overrated, and that's a very sad thing, because not only is that not true, but the girls don't deserve that at all. they rlly r just trying to live their dream and do their best and ppl don't even want them to do that. they don't want blackpink to do well. they actively seek out things ab them to try and discredit their efforts and success at every opportunity. it's just pathetic, and so, so childish.
You’re right on bp getting unwarranted hate but to say it’s MORE than bts is massively reaching. Every single thing bts does is just as harshly criticized. Both groups get unwarranted hate because they’re both very popular. It sadly comes with the territory.
Yng Lo Blackpink definitely gets more hate than male groups at their same level I won’t argue that but bts gets just as much for simply being at the top. Of course they don’t face the sexism that BP does but they face their own unique challenges in being the kpop posterchild. It’s not a competition on who gets more hate anyway. Both groups don’t deserve it. I just don’t think it’s fair to downplay the massive amount of bandwagon hate bts gets either.
Let's all admit LSG is everything we have wanted. The vocals shone, the rap kicked ass, took us on an emotional rollercoaster, the production for me was unpredictable and the GUITAR (melt) loved it !! It was everything blinks wanted and I'm so proud of them. Thanks PD for the great reaction.
same but the nostalgia i got is something as if this song already exists in the past. idk if i make sense here but i just feel like lovesick girls is a perfect 2015-2016-ish track
ZioComposite honeslty I would love that. But I want a YG family collab as in Winner, Akmu, iKON, Sechkies, BigBang, Treasure, 2NE1, and the other many more YG idols like a YG family concert or something.
ronan edgeworth that’s the vibe it gave off like it gave me the good old safe 2015-2016 vibes. It also gave the the early 2011 to late 2012 vibes as well.
@@ronanedgeworth9162 aaAA lsg reminds me of 2010s pop,. like early 2010s. especially lisas rap in the 2nd chorus, the instrumental behind it reminds me a lot hehe
I watched almost literally every blackpink reactions for this comeback. And every reactor literally have to say something or to "defend" the girls. If this doesnt speak how much the hate they received i dont know what is.
Thank you for putting it into perspective because seriously the hate that blackpink gets are just completely ridiculous. The way they are always the subject of such standard that a lot of groups can actually get away with, even praised, yet there's always a problem when it comes to blackpink. Also the fact that their previous songs isn't even that westernized sounding, it still has a very kpop rooted sound to it or atleast very blackpink exclusive sound. Because when you listen to DDDD,KTL and HYLT you don't actually see it done or sang by a western artist
I KNOW RIGHT ? I MEAN THEY CAN FK OFF I REALLY HATE HATERS BECAUSE ALL THE DO IS THAT LAYING ON BED HATE ON OTHERS AND DISRESPECT OTHERS , BLACKPINK IS A HARD WORKER GIRLS AND THEY REALLY DON'T DESERVE ANY OF THIS..
Rosé's part is my ALL TIME FAVOURITE. The impact of that scene plus Jisoo' s swimming pool scene is soooooo strong like its overwhelming I want to cry but happy cause its so good 😂 love love love this song. Are you gonna do a Album listen PD?
C Bold No, it’s not. It just came out at the right time. If it was released too early, it wouldn’t have the success it has. I’m quite sure there had been some tweaking and changes going on in behind the scenes to make sure the formula will be perfect. Nonetheless, the album is THE album.
Is it just me but even though "Love to Hate me" and "Crazy over you" are english songs and people called it "westernized" for me it still sounded kpop. Even though they were english songs they sounded like kpop songs for me
thank you so much for justifying bp’s music. i feel like nowadays bp is a group that constantly gets hated on for their songs and even their members, and it’s become almost a bandwagon to hate on them and it’s disgusting. i’ve met people who like a bp song and then they say that after they’ve heard people criticize the song they no longer like it because it lost its appeal after people rip it to pieces. i completely agree that bp are global artists, they worked hard to get where they are, regardless of whatever people say. this reaction was great💓
@@TalkingAboutYooh yeah that's what I'm saying. There are millions who love what they do already. Having haters should not invalidate what they have already achieved. Just focus on the positives. Honestly we have enough on our case as it is with this pandemic. Wasting time on people who may have their own issues to deal with is pointless.
Millions of people adore blackpink. Those who keeps on hating on are just kids who are pressed by superstardom of the girls and those who keeps looking for something new cause they feel like music critic of some sort. Ignore those people cause they can't do anything other than using their mouth to talk trash.
Funfact : *LSG is most peaceful comeback so far* I also noticed that the dislikes in this MV had a huge difference from the rest of the singles. Maybe not all people will like it but atleast they don't hate it. What I like about this comeback/title track because they really focuses on the music, how they will divide the verses fairly and how will they gonna show everyone how talented these girls are (the acting really hits me) one of the reason as well is.....it's really new to me, it's different and I like it👑👑
This time the album is completely good cause no fanwares and no hate fr individual members except fr something knots started bt that's knetz not blinks
It’s peaceful but then the thing with the nurse uniform that didn’t even need to become a big deal. I mean I could see why nurses could be upset but Jennie in no way sexualized it.
@@renia1833 As usual, haters always finding holes for every idols like I mean they are not perfect, they are human as well. Dear haters, just let them breathe!
Kurty Yoww exactly, I just don’t get it. They said her skirt was too short but it was mid thigh even as she was sitting... No fan even thought of jennie in that way when she was in the m/v the only thought people probably had was “Shes pretty” or “Her acting is good. There will always be perverts in the world but you can’t restrict people from wearing what they want because of those perverts.
@@renia1833 they are just making things complicated. Blackpink didn't dream to be an idols just to be hated and criticize, they want to be role model and people just making fun of them like bashing them without knowing how would they feel about it. But I'm happy that in this Album they pull it off so well, they express what they really feel.
I think you are right. People should enjoy the music and stop complaining. If you don't like it, don't hate on them just don't listen to it. I love all sides of BP and they did an amazing job with this album. They are really trying to appeal a global audience and that is great. I want that for them. I've been a fan of K-pop since my highschool day ( I'm 28 now so 12 years) and i've seen it all. Music change, transforms and I like that they are trying new things and not being stuck on the hard drop beat song genre. You reactions are always on point. Much love from Argentina 💕
Maybe it's because you're all so used to how BP just gets a humongous amount of vi3ws every mv, which is fine. But just generally, I feel like this is nothing to fret about bc it is STILL very successful.
@@cyberink7093 don't get me wrong, the views are great in general! however, with their previous releases, this song did the worst and was their most anticipated track this year.
TH-cam is full of reactors who are just discovering kpop, and their enthusiasm is great and makes me excited for them. But it's refreshing to get the perspective of someone who's been in the community longer, who has the experience and has seen the growth and evolution of the genre. This is more than an internet trend, it's your culture and this channel is a valuable window into that.
Jennie: the love that made her go insane. Lisa: the love in which she seeks revenge. Jisoo: the love of mourning the death of her lover and trying to turn back time. Rosé: the love in which she can’t let go and she looks back at the memories and it hurts her.
They have been repeatedly bashed by both the Kpop and Western music community since 2018. This was literally their first drama free comeback since D4. Personally, it's why Love to Hate Me and You Never Know are my favorites on the Album.
The one thing that I really appreciate about Lovesick Girls is that Jennie and Jisoo helped cowrite it and if I remember correctly Jennie also helped with the production. And some of the other songs that that Jennie is helped she were never mentioned but they were actually mentioned this time
I have not seen a credits list on the video... but on the credit sheet with the cd they are finally included... Sadly though BlackPink is not the only group that has had this issue it goes back for a while... One of the main ones that stuck in my head is Amber from F(x)
The juxtaposition of the dark lyrics and the bright sound is something I love, it’s one of my favorite songwriting techniques. This is easily the best comeback by Blackpink to date, thank you for sharing your thoughts PD!!
I think we all couldn't breathe. The juxtaposition from the chorus to her bath scene caught me off guard. The emotions she was conveying in 10-15 secs was crazy.
i felt like lovesick girls was a refresher from all the empty house chorus from their previous songs since it got repetitive and this one actually felt like it wasn't half assed, it really did feel like nothing was missing and that's what I love about it. this is something I would listen to over again without getting sick of it
i really appreciated what you had to say about blackpink and their music. i feel like they are held to a standard that people don’t hold other kpop groups to, and your thoughts on all of that was really refreshing to hear as someone who is a hardcore fan of theirs and has seen all the negativity that gets thrown their way. i had a feeling you would like lovesick girls given the retro vibes of the song. looking forward to the listening party of THE ALBUM! much love!
Well they're getting an amount of attention, praise and fame that justifies having a certain level of expectation. The problem is a lot of this fame is built on mass movement, clout and popularity, not really on talent. Now you're reading this and spitting your salad at the screen yelling "WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT YOU SAYING THEY'RE BAD??!?!?" No, that's not what I said at all. But is what they're doing really deserving of all this compared to other kpop groups? Absolutely not. There are better groups out there who struggle to get a good amount of views. If Blackpink did the exact same songs but were floating around 100m views per MV no one would act like what you describe. That's because BP is famous beyond what they deserve. Sounds cruel, specially to fans, but it's a reality. If you think I'm wrong then it means you sincerely believe Blackpink is 500 times better than Dreamcatcher. (DC's most popular songs are about 20m views, BP is over 1b: 20m x 500 = 1b). Now people are gonna cry cuz I'm making a comparison. Saying BP is getting what they deserve is an automatic comparison to what other groups get and make the judgment that they get what they deserve. Are you really gonna sit there and claim Dreamcatcher is 500 times worse than BP? Because that's kinda what you're doing. If I see someone getting 500 times more attention that Dreamcatcher, I'm expecting something fucking mind blowing out of this world. BP is good but nowhere near the "fucking mind blowing out of this world" level. Sure I could have phrased all of this like "BP get what they deserve, it's DC that's underrated they deserve more". That's a nice thought, but realistically speaking we can't wish the 30 something groups/artists who are just as good if not better than BP to get the same amount of views, it just won't happen, so it's more logical to say BP is getting more than they should.
@@charred6683 Regardless of how hard other groups have worked, there's no reason to discredit Blackpink's own hard work and dedication. We've seen time and time again that their company holds them back and to ignore the appeal that Blackpink has as a group and as individuals to the global market is absolutely ignorant. Dreamcatcher is an excellent group with an excellent discography, but you need to understand that Blackpink has music that appeals globally compared to others. It's pop music.
SyliqueDolls I agree. “Popularity” relies on more than just talent alone, though BP has plenty in that apartment. They’re appealing globally because of their discography and their formula to success. It’s so easy to see and yet people choose to be ignorant because they believe other Kpop groups deserve their success. BP gave those other groups more than a year or so to reach their popularity height but it just didn’t work. It’s time people stop saying that dumb idea of them not being worthy of their success. They’re perfectly worthy of it and this new album just proves it.
Charred for the record i DO think blackpink is better than dreamcatcher and are 110% deserving of all the success and fame they’ve gained bc they ARE talented. i can’t picture other kpop groups doing what blackpink did at coachella. while you might think other groups are more talented or whatever, i think blackpink have all that AND a certain charisma and stage presence that draws people in. the have the IT factor and not everyone has that to make it big, quite frankly. and this is coming from someone who is a fan of dreamcatcher and absolutely loves their music. but i also didn’t bring them up in the first place nor did i say they they were “500 times worse than BP.” you’re the one putting words in my mouth. your whole essay just reads as someone who doesn’t like seeing blackpink succeed, but you’re trying to pass it off as harsh criticism. if you think these other groups are so deserving of blackpink’s success and fame, stream and buy their music. i don’t know what else to tell ya
That sound in Lisa’s second rap verse has that sound many 2010-2013 pop songs had.. like Kesha songs...David Guetta has production credits on Lovesick Girls, he prob added production during that verse
Yes, it has that 2010-2013 edm progressive vibe, david guetta influence are strong on this song, the drop, pre-chorus bass, are similar to songs from david guetta's 2012 album
I interpreted the lyrics as Blackpink singing this to Blinks. That Blackpink is longing for Blinks’ love and being hurt over and over again by some Blinks who are toxic, who have unhealthy bias or stan only one or two and undermine BP’s other team members. As Rosé said, “if you hate one of us, you are not a Blink.” Blackpink are lovesick girls who are still looking for love, hoping that someone will still listen and love them again after being hurt by others’ lack of faith. For me, this song is like a middle finger to those who left (because it hurts but they are moving on) and celebrating those who come and will come to enjoy their music. 🖤💖
Jisoo submerged in rain water, could be a metaphor for tears. Even though the electrical "nothing" sign is in the water, it's not toasting her, because "nothing" can hurt them. Similar to Jisoo's burning umbrella scene in How You Like That, which meant they don't need umbrellas to shield them anymore from rain or fire. The part where Jisoo says, "I pity you for pitying me," it kind of has a double meaning, especially how she climactically belts it out. On one hand, it could be taken at face value. But on the other hand, it's also a defensive statement you say out of denial or shame... for example, when someone says, "You can't dump me, because I dumped you," or "You can't fire me, because I quit." In the blue flower field, it looks like pink sand is flowing out of the hour glass, but it's actually flowing back into the hour glass, because Jisoo longs to reverse the effects of time. So they show her running in a hoodie, as if she's racing against the clock, even though she can't outrun fate. Love is not eternal, but ephemeral, and it's only a matter of time. Also something I noticed, the neon sign in the dance scene cryptically suggests, "Born [to] Die Alone." It doesn't say it literally, but figuratively, because it’s a subliminal message in the background while they sing, “We are born to be (die) alone.” This is kind of an ironic empowerment anthem. They're taking ownership of the fact that they can't help falling for love, even if it's destined for splitsville. Thus "born to be (die) alone." The choreography also shows them smacking their heads, because they're fools for love. And no matter what, they'll remain optimistic and hopeful to the end, even if they're fooling themselves. 🤗 EDIT: I had to make a correction, because it was brought to my attention that the flow of the pink sand is reversed in the video. Maybe I need to upgrade my monitor, because I had to play it back multiple times at .25X speed to confirm that the chamber is filling up. I appreciate all of your kindhearted feedback. 💖
I think that people constantly criticizing blackpink’s western sounding music is really distracting from who they are as artists. At the core of each comeback is the hard work of the artists and it definitely isn’t fair to just focus on the marketing and overall sound instead of just viewing the comeback as a product. It really is a product, but hearing the girls say that they all loved the title track and that Jennie and jisoo were involved in composition and lyrics, it’s sad to see people just undermining what they want to do. Like so what if the song sounds western? The girls like their music, and they’re definitely not the only artists moving into a more western sound
I know I'll get hate for this but, I'm really curious to know how Jennie helped. I mean, they paid David Guetta to work on this song, I just found it very odd. Perhaps we'll have a new Jennie comeback soon and this somehow is a little promotion for that?
the girls have said they don’t just sit and wait for songs to be made for them, they like to be involved and they definitely love and enjoy the music they’re putting out.
@@ailxernight Kpop songs usually have a few producers behind them, sometimes they work on a particular section of the song and not all of it (meaning David Guetta might've worked in just a few sections). I think Jennie's part must have been something like that, a more active participation in the production process. That may also be promotion for something, I don't see anything wrong with that.
I always like all the songs they release, even if they aren't my favorite songs- I don't know to me personally I think they found their "sound" in this album and it's neither strictly western or eastern "kpop" sound. They have such a versatile mix between their black and pink sound and it's easy enough to choose between those different songs to your liking, not every song is gonna be a fan favorite. I've been into kpop for nearly 10 years and it's just been so toxic and people hating this or hating that bc of singles that don't match their expectations. I remember when people were just having fun and their groups pumping out songs like it's nothing. Blackpink barely has a discography and they have so much time to make more amazing songs.
Me too. I haven't happened to dislike the songs they released as of now. Ice cream is receiving a lot of hate when it came out but its pretty catchy for me. Idk with all of this negativity.

a lot of people are hating om artists "sounding different" just bc now are more popular or mainstream and they don't feel special anymore lol. I totally agree with PD here, why can't we enjoy mind-numbing music? there is nothing wrong with liking mainstream sounds
@@haniehosseini6756 yes I noticed that in other reactions it seems they don't pay much attention into it but I know because they don't also know how to describe it much?? Unlike how pd do so I'm really looking forward into it, can't wait for him to upload!🥰🥰
I feel like this sound fits them perfectly! I really wasn’t a fan of their pre-releases so this was such a nice surprise. I hope they continue in this musical direction.
@@abbytofu3448 @dubu dahyunie it's not weak tho. HYLT were their first release single since ppl knew bp for having that "noise", that kpop vibe and black concept like KTL and DDDD. So ppl think "oh okay, same concept" thing statements. On their second single it's the IC which is definitely a pink more of a concept and has a western vibe since they also collabed with the Selena Gomez. And in their title track, it's kind of a kpop with a westernish vibes, a black and pinkish concepts, and more shown of BLACKPINK's versatility. This strategy is really good knowing many hates bp but many knows and loves them too. They've (YG) also done this kind of strat to some of its groups like the one and only BIGBANG. So ye.
I think the other aspect of this song is not only about the girls’ love relationships but also the relationship between BLACKPINK and the fans and also the people who hate them. Like the lyrics have shown, they have been hurt very hard; however they still looking for love at the same time. Although they’ve been upset because of the haters and the bad comments, they are still desiring to be loved. But those bad things in some way keep helping them moving on. That’s why they say:” I can’t live without this pain.” I think this song, or THE ALBUM, is far deeper than we see.
The fact that every reactor that has listened to the album ends up talking about the amount of hate Blackpink gets says a lot. They don’t deserve it. It’s heartbreaking seeing all the viral hate tweets they get with over 10k likes, almost every day. It’s crazy😞
Love how you defended the girls and explained their music release and production process. A lot of the hate that they receive is subtly aimed at the group itself rather than their music and limited discography. Guess it just comes with their popularity.
YESS it reminds me of 2010s pop!! driving in a convertible during a sunset on the highway blasting this song, yelling the lyrics and dancing your troubles away
I'm an army but I dont hate bp. They get hate for no reason, I feel really bad for them. Also I liked 'The Album' I checked out all the tracks and 'Pretty Savage' and 'You never know' is my fav tracks. I'm happy girls are getting good treatment, they deserve even more than this, also blinks getting content ♡
@@sheerytae6661 oh we're facing a problem right now about jennie wearing a nurse costume, knetz saying its too disrespectful for nurses and too sexual. Kindly help us protect Jennie
I don't see Blackpink's songs as either black or pink since the whole idea about their name is mixing the two. Even Ice cream had the rap parts to offset the ''pink''. I don't get why people are so focused on categorizing their songs to either black or pink. The only time I remember Blackpink talking about it is when they referred 'As if it's your last being' ''more of their pink side''. This wasn't meant as criticism to anyone btw. I have just been wondering about it. Anyway, had to let that one out. Awesome video as always. Can't wait for the full album review.
i'm one of the one's who's here for the more in-depth commentary rather than the initial reaction, so i'm really excited about this change!! looking forward to it
I honestly don’t understand how a lot kpop stans hate on bp for having a “western sound” like first of all...kpop as a whole is influenced by western pop. There are a lot of kpop groups that have taken inspiration from western pop-Hell, their own faves are influenced by western pop yet blackpink gets a shit ton of hate for it because they don’t like that they’re breaking out of the usual “perfect kpop group” mold that they’re used to seeing.
Agree. People naturally hate when someone is sticking out from the normal. It's the same with the saying, "The nail that sticks out gets hammered down." Those who are too different or conspicuous get criticized by others. That's exactly what is happening to BP. What BP is doing is totally different from other groups. They have different approach and concept. That's why people are trying to drag them down
Dunno but if I feel like listening to western music I don't necessarily look for groups copying a western sound. If I look for a Korean-pop sound I probably won't go and listen to American songs copying typical Korean pop elements. There is nothing wrong with them using a more western sound but the core audience might listen to kpop to get away from the stereotypical western sound.
i appreciate that you mentioned the reaction to how you like that and the criticism is received. i was not expected lovesick girls to be this REAL. how you like that was a bit more bragadocious and hard hitting, but lovesick girls feels more authentic, and the video more "indie" as you put it. this comeback, especially lovesick girls and you never know feels so much more authentic and real than their pre releases
lovesick girls is really a game changer, you know. who would have thought that they will do this kind of concept. been listening to this song (and the other songs) since it was released and it still gets me excited.
The rap section in the second verse kinda gave me BIGBANG vibes.. I’m not sure of what song, but it all reminded me of YG’s sound a few years ago. edit: maybe ‘Blue’ by Bigbang and ‘Go Away’ by 2NE1🤔
jennie’s voice is my favorite. she made me love kpop with her powerful rap back in D4 yet she still managed to make me fall in love with her vocals every comeback. her raps in the album also melted me. i love my versatile queen 👑
I don't thing she's underrated, I think she's underUSED... But this album has done a good job showcasing her talents and strong points, which are basically her unique HUSKY TONE in slow/mature songs, it's just a delight. I'm not a fan of her English, but the fact she can even sing in a second language is HUGE, and she's improving quickly wich leaves a promise for the future-- So it's good YG pushes her into improving herself. Her raps** are a MUST in future tracks. I wish some of those tracks let her explore a little Korean fast paced flows, BLINKS knew she could rap, but she's done that officially now and it's a WEAPON when u consider EVERY member of BLACKPINK can rap...
omg i was so shocked when you pointed out the warm/cold color grading in rose's scene!! this is WHY ur one of my favorite reactors- u caught that right away i never would have noticed it and now that i know, i see that part in a whole new light!!
So I wasn't the only one who felt like the "We are the lovesick girls" part sounded like "girls just wanna fun". I feel like a genius for thinking like PD. LOL
thank you so much for addressing the “global artist” situation and the comebacks because i feel like a lot of people need to understand that. i just wish more people knew :)
All these people with their I CANT STAN THEM I DONT LIKE THIS I DONT LIKE THAT, nobody is forcing you to do anything, its just music, its not as deep as some people make it to be and ruin everyones mood.
I think you also have to respect that some people DO take it seriously as well. And it’s not all negative imo, it’s good to have a community that pushes you do be more creative, make better stuff, make stuff the fans that were there from the beginning can enjoy a lot too. This is just what happens when you segment yourself, same way Halo (the game) now has like 20 playlists and is trying to please everyone...tho it’s biting them in the ass these days lol but you get my point. Old Halo fans vs new Halo fans too, it’s hurt the game cuz the amount the gained from new Halo didn’t replace all the old die hard fans. It can be a risky business doing this as well, happens with music and shows and all kinds of stuff.
@@jordansarkisian that doesn't mean that you can say that the group is not good cuz you don't like the music they made, why in the fuck you have to tell to an artist to do something for you if you don't like them at all, is so stupid .-. I don't know how you will react to THE ALBUM when you already very very impressed with Jisoo's performance here. Jisoo literally snatch everyone's wig, or even scalp in most of b-side the songs. You really need to be prepared haha.
Yeah fk fans i can't even CALL them fans they are antis because if you think of the idea that a fan based on you will see that the true fan is the person who support the artist the way he is and the way he is changing you could never be a real fan and at the same time you want to control your artist life and what he likes as a music ! And his interests and etc i mean THIS KPOP BULLSHITS SUCKS WHEN IT COMES HOW FAN REACTS ! IT IS OKAY TO HATE A SONG OR DISLIKE IT BUT IT IS NOT OKAY TO FORCE OTHERS TO OR EVEN TRY TO CHANGE HOW IT SOUNDS did you get me ? i mean for those who says that they don't like blackpink last few song JUST UNSTAN THEM cause the don't need a person who calls himself or herself a fan and dislikes there work ... did you got me there ?
serioisly, solo stans are not the problem in the blink fandom these type of people are the one really ruins the fandom and I swear Blinks are the most spoiled brat people I have ever encountered
Honestly, the more I watch BP's MV for this song, the more I cry when Rose's part comes on. Such a beautiful voice and the raw emotion not only visually, but clear in her voice. ❤️
I like how the styling goes well with it too- like, they have these crazy, but retro, but like beautiful outfits that are like “ok we are done with this love who cares anymore” like it’s so good wtf
You could try doing mini recaps every few months and see if your opinions has changes on those past songs you’ve already reviewed. That way you could update us and your opinions. I love when you go really in depth in the music videos btw!! 😆😆
YG vibes are unique and more westernized ever since that’s why I don’t know why people keeps on being salty about queens having western vibe! Don’t have something to say about the song? Come on, just say it already I know you love it don’t be shy! HAHAHA SALTYY
I think people also forget that K-pop is inspired by the West anyway. It literally is Korean Pop, and pop music comes from the West. Kpop does sound different a lot of the time, but it still stems from the music from the west.
The problem here is that these salty humans have forgotten that music is an art and you can expressed it in any form of art you want! Appreciate music even though u hate the artist bcs that’s the problem with u just bcs u hate them salty people keeps on spitting stupid shiz that doesn’t make sense at all just to drag the artist
What a fantastic retro-sounding modern song. I really love the rap portions and Chaeyoung's last chorus adlibs. But Jisoo's part before the final chorus (where you clapped) is a REALLY big mood. It's SO satisfying not only as a big fan of Jisoo but in the song itself because it leads up SO well
Lovesick Girls takes me back to when i first started listening to BLACKPINK and i was spamming playing with fire, stay, boombayah and whistle. and i love it.
YG songs as groups have never been “Kpop” style. So people being mad that Blackpink has western songs is just stupid. They are aiming for Western Market, so there obviously going to release more western songs.
This is crazy tbh, what is kpop style tho like as casual listener to kpop music, i listen to kpop hip hop even 2nd groups, it's not really different, they just sang more in english
HYLT is still not much different from their other recent title tracks, like Kill This Love or D4. However this song reminds me sO much of their "older" style. Giving me Playing with fire meets AIIYL vibes. And the M/V is totally my style too, I prefer these types of MVs that look less like a set, and more like actual locations. Even though they are mostly sets, it is not as obvious as in D4, KTL, HYLT etc
Altough I agree it's the same structure in a first look and was getting kinda repetitive-- THEY ARE COMPLETELY different... The thing people disregard about BLACKPINK that bothers me is their amazing song production, the different flows they pull in their raps, the different vocal techniques... Like-- Pick Rosé's vocals from DDDD, KTL and HYLT. They are ALL different in TONE, LANGUAGE, INTENSITY, and people still call that "The same song". Look at Lisas and Jennies raps from those same songs> They are experimenting with 3+ different languages, flows, combinations... Meanwhile other KPOP groups use the SAME vocal tone and technique in years, only changing the color of the MV and the order of the lines, and people call it "DIFFERENT CONCEPTS"... The disregard KPOP community has for BLACKPINK is the reason they conquered ALL of the world even tough people called them "mediocre". Plus** they can hold themselves LIVE with real bands, and that's something only musicians and real artists can do. They are a 4 yo group, think about that. Also, istead of watching 2gen DVDS and SPECIAL edited stages, pick some of the fancams of their NORMAL shows, you'll see the difference in skill...
this mv has alot of meaning too. i know KTS, D4, and HYLT's mv's have meanings too.. but they mostly look like the girls just singing and dancing on cool looking sets and nothing else.
@@harryh.r.9082 I definitely recognize the vocal and rap ability of the 4 members, it is just the production of the recent songs themselves that are still very similar. With the grand opening, to the intense build-up for the chorus, but the drop is almost like an anti-drop, with a repetitive chorus line and then a grand finale. This is what sets the 3 recent songs (before LSG) apart from their other title tracks, and what makes just those 3 songs so similar. In regards to your comment about other groups, one definitely doesn't have to change their vocal tone and technique to do a different concept. In fact, it is pretty unusual for a singer to change their technique if they have found one that works well for them. Unless you are talking about the actual delivery of the vocals, because most of the BP members are consistent with their vocal technique, but Rosé and Jennie especially are very versatile with their vocals.
@@kshil9713 I agree that KTL, D4, And HYLT structure and production is the same. They have the Jennie and Lisa in the verses and then Rosé and Jisoo in the pre choruses and then a drop with repetitive lines, and then Rosé either does the whole bridge or Rosé and Jisoo is in the bridge and then a dance break. But the sound is definitely different. While with LSG, the structure is bit the same but the sound is more to their roots, OG blackpink sound. Thats why they made this the title track. And also, a vocal chorus and a new sound thats different is what blinks wanted. Though for the techniques and how singers use them in songs, its very subjective. Its not wrong to have the same technique and sound if thats what you want but its more appealing and it gives the fans more of a feel when they switch it up with their voices. Emotional delivery is the most important thing about being a singer/artist. And so far this is what the girls have as well as BTS. One group I can identify that uses the same technique in most of their songs in G (idle) which isn't bad since its their style and fans love it. Blackpink always makes people feel something even though they are singing the same song. Thats what makes YG artists. Rosé in particular changes her technique most of the time when she's doing different songs. If It Is You, D4, KTL, and her covers is so different but she always makes people move. Groups that would do great with a band is Blackpink, BTS, Red Velvet, Mamamoo, and Exo. These groups for me are what I call true artists and influencers. Everyone is different though ☺
Above all of other people who's doing this reaction videos you are kinda the best, because you always have your own common sense. Reaction videos are not just about reacting to the song, and sometimes people are doing it for attention it's obviously they are faking or just praising the group and they don't have their own thoughts. You are really critic at this point. You are critizing, saying the things that you like and try to show to other people what they've missed about some certain things. That's why I really love your videos and can't wait to see you reaction to The Album!!
One thing I realized, for someone who is fan of Kpop for a very long time, How you like that is not your cup of tea but if you are part of general public. You will be hooked with their music because its catchy and maybe it is what YG is doing converting General Public to become a Kpop fan. It was like How you like that is for General Public Ice cream is for Western Market Love Sick is for Kpoppies and Blinks
im like neither i have been listening to only blackpink for 1 yr but then i became a multistan and a teume but i got bored of hylt after a month where would i be categorised ?
That just depends on your taste. I'm a long time kpop fan and i love hylt. I also love lsg. They are different and if you don't like it it's fine. But the amount of criticism for a single song or group it's ridiculous. Not only about bp but any group.
In this comment I just want to emphasize the excellent job that PD does as a reaction youtuber. You are my favorite! you're always serious and detailed when you talk about your content and I thank you very much for this new change. i love that the styling gives me y2k vibes while the song gives an 80s vibe (like pd said with the girls just wanna have fun reference) especially with that one instrument in the background of the chorus that i don’t know how to describe. it’s the one that’s like hitting something.

Honest lovesick has been my new favorite along with kick it, whistle, and stay💕☺️
You can feel the nostalgia, because the rap part after the first chorus sounds like 2012....
And if you dig deeper, David Guetta took part in the production... you can definitely feel the nostalgia especially with the synth in the rap part after the first chorus.
Lily H me too, LSG has become my favorite title track but my favorite song still remains kick it
Joes Cathbert Yes definitely, we needed someone else in the production other than Teddy 💀

AGREED!
i had no idea but david guetta makes sooo much sense
Exacto!👆🏽
It has that 80s synth wave, like Cyndi Lauper’s Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, me thinks, which is why I appreciate this song more than HYLT.
Edit: I commented before finishing watching the reaction, didnt realize PD already mentioned it ha ha
I agree it also gave me Kesha vibes like we r who we r and your love is my drug

Jennie - broke up, but cant move on
Rosé - just break up, stress(?)
Lisa - next victim
Why you so smart 😭😮 that's amazing 😉😉
Haha clever that is also the age order from oldest to youngest
I'm Jisoo
Chun Li I'm ok
And this is why I'm subscribed to PD. He is capable of higher level thinking. I've been into Kpop since 2008 and the international fanbase, from my experience, used to not be this damn toxic. Anything involving BlackPink always has so much negativity. I feel bad for these girls and I'm not even a BLINK. I hope they stay off the interweb.
This is like when comic books and manga/anime somehow became mainstream and I had to deal with this influx of new rapid fans.
Just Floating Through I know the feeling. Also why I like PD
more ppl like u need to exist.
I believe their pronouns are they/them. Correct me if I'm wrong
Just No yeah they are
this is such an anthem, but it’s not basic, loud party music. this could still be a super hype song, but something is just there that makes it unique.
It's also very emotional at the same time. The lyrics are very relatable for a lot of people.
The beat is super hype but makes you sad.
Rosé bias wrecked me so hard in this mv. I was legit shocked with her acting
damn. that whole section about the kind of mindset to view blackpink was so good to listen to. when i first heard the two pre-releases i absolutely felt that bitterness and negativity that people had upon hearing it too, so i'm really thankful for pd's reactions because that alternate perspective really opened up my eyes to the fact that blackpink has an entirely different context than most other kpop groups, to the point where you really have to consider different factors before holding them to the same standards, or else you get your expectations crushed.
the best way i can think about it is like expecting a lemon meringue to be super sweet because it's considered a dessert, but then hating it without taking into account that it's literally made of lemons. but once you do, that's when you might realize, "oh, this dessert made consuming lemon juice so much more pleasurable. this ain't half bad."
but anyways i fell in LOVE with lovesick girls, and i'm glad i wasn't the only one that thought of girls just wanna have fun at the chorus!
Exactly! It's inspired by western pop.
Yeah, inspired by... but KPop usually takes it to the next level with more interesting chord progressions, more interesting genres mixed in and more creative sound design.
When they strip this back and return to the simplicity / safeness of more basic Western production then it loses its appeal (for me).
that's why i'm glad i deleted twitter a while ago... now i'm enjoying my music completely unbothered :)
Me too. It kind of reminds me to the early 2010's

i appreciate the fact that you mentioned the divide in their music and said that moving forward we are going to be getting both western and more kpop-y songs. at this point blackpink is a global group and have many international fans that appreciate and love their sound regardless if it comes from their roots or if it is marketed to be more successful around the world. with all that aside, i honestly loved all of their pre-releases and LSG in different ways. that’s the charm about bp, i never know what to expect but i end up jamming to it anyway lol.
@@lyandaespadas lmao me, I don't care if it's bad, they put a shitload of effort in filming, and singing that. They also have to learn the choreo.

I completely agree. as a blink who is also a very intense multi-stan (army, reveluv, meU, midzy, shawol, etc.), it's honestly insane to see how Kpop fans treat blackpink compared to other groups. people expect so much out of blackpink, probably more than any other Kpop group (yes, including BTS). and yes, I believe that blackpink is held to a higher standard to BTS when it comes to music, bc there's not nearly as much negativity when BTS releases new music. and rlly it's infuriating to see how many ppl just hate them for no reason, like it's almost the "consensus" among Kpop fans nowadays that they're overrated or it's okay to hate on them. ppl will go completely out of their way to find something ab them they don't like and use it as an excuse to justify hating on them, and somehow this has become accepted by many Kpop fans.
it's become cool to think that blackpink is overrated, and that's a very sad thing, because not only is that not true, but the girls don't deserve that at all. they rlly r just trying to live their dream and do their best and ppl don't even want them to do that. they don't want blackpink to do well. they actively seek out things ab them to try and discredit their efforts and success at every opportunity. it's just pathetic, and so, so childish.
riley I agree with 100%
Yes please I really want to screenshot this and post on Twitter! lol
You’re right on bp getting unwarranted hate but to say it’s MORE than bts is massively reaching. Every single thing bts does is just as harshly criticized. Both groups get unwarranted hate because they’re both very popular. It sadly comes with the territory.
tkaay11 its not reaching, women in general get more hate than men and more sexualized and objectified
I just don’t think it’s fair to downplay the massive amount of bandwagon hate bts gets either.
it feels like hating on relatively more successful artists is viewed as a cool thing or a trend.
Sadly :(

Thank you for putting it into perspective because seriously the hate that blackpink gets are just completely ridiculous. The way they are always the subject of such standard that a lot of groups can actually get away with, even praised, yet there's always a problem when it comes to blackpink. Also the fact that their previous songs isn't even that westernized sounding, it still has a very kpop rooted sound to it or atleast very blackpink exclusive sound. thank you so much for justifying bp’s music. i feel like nowadays bp is a group that constantly gets hated on for their songs and even their members, and it’s become almost a bandwagon to hate on them and it’s disgusting. i’ve met people who like a bp song and then they say that after they’ve heard people criticize the song they no longer like it because it lost its appeal after people rip it to pieces. i completely agree that bp are global artists, they worked hard to get where they are, regardless of whatever people say. this reaction was great💓

Well they're getting an amount of attention, praise and fame that justifies having a certain level of expectation. The problem is a lot of this fame is built on mass movement, clout and popularity, not really on talent. Now you're reading this and spitting your salad at the screen yelling "WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT YOU SAYING THEY'RE BAD??!?!?"
No, that's not what I said at all.
Charred lol okay

Kesha die young keeps repeating while listening to LSG
The whole album is amazing it is so 'blackpink type ' and has 'blackpink tinge' in it , absolutely loved it .
I interpreted the lyrics as Blackpink singing this to Blinks. That Blackpink is longing for Blinks’ love and being hurt over and over again by some Blinks who are toxic, who have unhealthy bias or stan only one or two and undermine BP’s other team members. As Rosé said, “if you hate one of us, you are not a Blink.”
Blackpink are lovesick girls who are still looking for love, hoping that someone will still listen and love them again after being hurt by others’ lack of faith.
But on the other hand, it's also a defensive statement you say out of denial or shame... for example, when someone says, "You can't dump me, because I dumped you," or "You can't fire me, because I quit."
In the blue flower field, it looks like pink sand is flowing out of the hour glass, but it's actually flowing back into the hour glass, because Jisoo longs to reverse the effects of time. So they show her running in a hoodie, as if she's racing against the clock, even though she can't outrun fate. Love is not eternal, but ephemeral, and it's only a matter of time.
Also something I noticed, the neon sign in the dance scene cryptically suggests, "Born [to] Die Alone." It doesn't say it literally, but figuratively, because it’s a subliminal message in the background while they sing, “We are born to be (die) alone.”
This is kind of an ironic empowerment anthem. They're taking ownership of the fact that they can't help falling for love, even if it's destined for splitsville. Thus "born to be (die) alone."
The choreography also shows them smacking their heads, because they're fools for love. And no matter what, they'll remain optimistic and hopeful to the end, even if they're fooling themselves. 🤗
EDIT: I had to make a correction, because it was brought to my attention that the flow of the pink sand is reversed in the video. Maybe I need to upgrade my monitor, because I had to play it back multiple times at .25X speed to confirm that the chamber is filling up. I appreciate all of your kindhearted feedback. 💖

man this song and the album made me realized why i fell in love with blackpink in the first place

@@ailxernight Kpop songs usually have a few producers behind them, sometimes they work on a particular section of the song and not all of it (meaning David Guetta might've worked in just a few sections). I think Jennie's part must have been something like that, a more active participation in the production process. That may also be promotion for something, I don't see anything wrong with that.

I always like all the songs they release, even if they aren't my favorite songs- I don't know to me personally I think they found their "sound" in this album and it's neither strictly western or eastern "kpop" sound. Although they’ve been upset because of the haters and the bad comments, they are still desiring to be loved. But those bad things in some way keep helping them moving on. That’s why they say:” I can’t live without this pain.” I think this song, or THE ALBUM, is far deeper than we see.
I just realized that, thank you
The fact that every reactor that has listened to the album ends up talking about the amount of hate Blackpink gets says a lot.
I can just imagine blasting this song while driving on the highway feeling like I’m the protagonist of a coming of age film yassssss
I know! Imagine doing that in a open-roof car with your girlfriends, cursing the sht out of all the pain you have.. that’s just very nostalgic.
YESS it reminds me of 2010s pop!!
driving in a convertible during a sunset on the highway blasting this song, yelling the lyrics and dancing your troubles away
Yassss
rosé‘s acting was so good in this mv. i was stunned- she’s so talented!!!
As an Armyblink, i'm proud to stan Global Group Artist.
finally an Army who respects BP
ur so lucky
then please go far from blue bird app cuz in there "war" is massive from army vs blink thats crazy
sori my bad English
I know that, we are trying to fight for them equally. We're quite a lot there
I'm an army but I dont hate bp.
There are a lot of kpop groups that have taken inspiration from western pop-Hell, their own faves are influenced by western pop yet blackpink gets a shit ton of hate for it because they don’t like that they’re breaking out of the usual “perfect kpop group” mold that they’re used to seeing.
i feel like in the end it's just an excuse to -subtly- hate on the girls themselves
Lovesick Girls made me fall back in love with blackpink. I literally cried when I first heard the song
i appreciate that you mentioned the reaction to how you like that and the criticism is received. i was not expected lovesick girls to be this REAL. how you like that was a bit more bragadocious and hard hitting, but lovesick girls feels more authentic, and the video more "indie" as you put it. this comeback, especially lovesick girls and you never know feels so much more authentic and real than their pre releases
lovesick girls is really a game changer, you know. who would have thought that they will do this kind of concept. been listening to this song (and the other songs) since it was released and it still gets me excited.
The rap section in the second verse kinda gave me BIGBANG vibes.. I’m not sure of what song, but it all reminded me of YG’s sound a few years ago.
edit: maybe ‘Blue’ by Bigbang and ‘Go Away’ by 2NE1🤔
maybe crayon by gd?
Also gave me bigbang vibes. Lisa's rap reminded me of a 2NE1 style verse but Jennie's reminded me of GD
I was getting blue by Big Bang vibes during the singing parts
The bridge part mainly
true the rap verse gives me major bigbang vibes. it reminds me of sober
jennie’s voice is my favorite. she made me love kpop with her powerful rap back in D4 yet she still managed to make me fall in love with her vocals every comeback. her raps in the album also melted me. i love my versatile queen 👑
Jisoo’s voice was always great , she was just underrated . Her voice was veeery good from the beginning.
yep. Ever since square up era, he has always been a fan of jisoo’s voice. It’s just that it’s not showcased most of the time.
Not really loving the album, tbh, but Jisoo's voice was showcased BEAUTIFULLY throughout. Glad she's somewhat getting her due.
I wish some of those tracks let her explore a little Korean fast paced flows, BLINKS knew she could rap, but she's done that officially now and it's a WEAPON when u consider EVERY member of BLACKPINK can rap...
no member of bp are underrated
+ she's soo pretty. Didn't adore her look in the dance part of this MV.
omg i was so shocked when you pointed out the warm/cold color grading in rose's scene!! this is WHY ur one of my favorite reactors- u caught that right away i never would have noticed it and now that i know, i see that part in a whole new light!!
this song is an anthem for all the people with insecure attachment styles!! UNITE!!!
So I wasn't the only one who felt like the "We are the lovesick girls" part sounded like "girls just wanna fun". I feel like a genius for thinking like PD. LOL
👏🏼
thank you so much for addressing the “global artist” situation and the comebacks because i feel like a lot of people need to understand that. i just wish more people knew :)
All these people with their I CANT STAN THEM I DONT LIKE THIS I DONT LIKE THAT, nobody is forcing you to do anything, its just music, its not as deep as some people make it to be and ruin everyones mood.
That encapsulates their behavior well. It's unfortunate.
Exactly
It can be a risky business doing this as well, happens with music and shows and all kinds of stuff.
say it LOUDER
@@jordansarkisian that doesn't mean that you can say that the group is not good cuz you don't like the music they made, why in the fuck you have to tell to an artist to do something for you if you don't like them at all, is so stupid .-.
Why do you wanna push something that you don't like into your throat?
why do you have to care about a group that you don't like?
none of the bullshit that you wrote have any sense...
HYLT just freaking works. It's the perfect opener for The Album.
I don't know how you will react to THE ALBUM when you already very very impressed with Jisoo's performance here. Jisoo literally snatch everyone's wig, or even scalp in most of b-side the songs. You really need to be prepared haha.
SAME
that’s what happens when yg gives her lines and lets her shine😽
Do you know if he did the review or not? Because I want to see it but idk where :(💖
@@Rulossss Not yet
I think they already found their color in this song.
This comeback made me so happy. The whole album is a bop and so glad that lovesick girls is the tittle track
Toxic fans create imaginary criteria that they hold the girls and YG to. It’s more in their heads and I’m glad BP does what they want.
Love to hate me says anyeonghaseyo to toxic fans :')
asoom onah Preach!!! 🙏🏻
Indeed
serioisly, solo stans are not the problem in the blink fandom these type of people are the one really ruins the fandom and I swear Blinks are the most spoiled brat people I have ever encountered
Honestly, the more I watch BP's MV for this song, the more I cry when Rose's part comes on. Such a beautiful voice and the raw emotion not only visually, but clear in her voice. ❤️
sameee
I like how the styling goes well with it too- like, they have these crazy, but retro, but like beautiful outfits that are like “ok we are done with this love who cares anymore” like it’s so good wtf
You could try doing mini recaps every few months and see if your opinions has changes on those past songs you’ve already reviewed. That way you could update us and your opinions. I love when you go really in depth in the music videos btw!! 😆😆
That's really a great idea! Like a monthly recap or something, with updates on the main songs. Would love that.
Not ur fandom, not ur problem! Pd spitting facts! The only youtuber i trust in doing reaction video!!!!
YG vibes are unique and more westernized ever since that’s why I don’t know why people keeps on being salty about queens having western vibe! Don’t have something to say about the song? Come on, just say it already I know you love it don’t be shy! HAHAHA SALTYY
They're just bandwagon fans who doesn't know YGE history. They don't give a shit about anything.
Lisa #one . No up on lisa no bp
Ikr. YG got western influence ever since. It’s obviously they doesn’t know what they are saying.
Literally
omg your brain ✨✨✨✨
This is crazy tbh, what is kpop style tho like as casual listener to kpop music, i listen to kpop hip hop even 2nd groups, it's not really different, they just sang more in english
That last part with Rosé and Jisoo it’s just amazing 😫 I really love everything Blackpink is giving us this year💖
HYLT is still not much different from their other recent title tracks, like Kill This Love or D4.
Altough I agree it's the same structure in a first look and was getting kinda repetitive--
THEY ARE COMPLETELY different...
Completely different for me
@@harryh.r.9082 I definitely recognize the vocal and rap ability of the 4 members, it is just the production of the recent songs themselves that are still very similar.
‘Lovesick Girls’ makes me feel so nostalgic for some reason, specially during the bridge ‘till the end... even more while watching the mv🥺
It was like How you like that is for General Public
Ice cream is for Western Market
Love Sick is for Kpoppies and Blinks
im like neither i have been listening to only blackpink for 1 yr but then i became a multistan and a teume
but i got bored of hylt after a month where would i be categorised ?
yepp, the last time i like BP title song was "As if its your last" to be honest.
This comeback it feels like BP going back to the original BP
YG is very good at marketing to GP and fans and LSG is very very good for me
That just depends on your taste. I'm a long time kpop fan and i love hylt. I also love lsg. They are different and if you don't like it it's fine. But the amount of criticism for a single song or group it's ridiculous. Not only about bp but any group.
Yudha Gamadita sameee
it's insane how they divided black and pink and gave their meaning to it.
In this comment I just want to emphasize the excellent job that PD does as a reaction youtuber. You are my favorite! you're always serious and detailed when you talk about your content and I thank you very much for this new change. I can't wait to see those more in-depth reviews which is exactly what I admire about your work!
i'm not a blink anymore, but i absolutely loved this comeback!! lovesick girls is definitely one of my favorite blackpink songs now and *this is only my opinion* but i wasn't really vibing with hylt and ice cream so i'm really glad that this song is the way it is,,the girls did so amazing 🥺
i love that the styling gives me y2k vibes while the song gives an 80s vibe (like pd said with the girls just wanna have fun reference) especially with that one instrument in the background of the chorus that i don’t know how to describe. it’s the one that’s like hitting something.
