I think that there is a massively untapped well of very lucrative sponsorship and advertisement deals out there from companies and businesses that Twitch and TH-cam would consider too unsavory or too much of a brand-risk; sponsors they'd never want touching their platform, and those sponsors wouldn't give two shits what the site they're advertising on allows or doesn't allow. That's probably how Kick will maintain this current trend of having "no ToS", although I'm sure some form of legal trouble will come eventually if movies, shows, and live sports continue to be streamed. I think what truly remains to be seen is the longevity of this, though. A part of me thinks this could truly be sustainable for them for a few years at least, but we'll have to see if they actually offer any meaningful competition in terms of viewership and staying power, will non-exclusive contracts be enough? Will they be able to sustain viewership off of illegal streams like the Super Bowl watch parties? Who knows, time will tell.

You want to support a creator on the small scale but they only get half of what you donate, you're better donating money in other ways except for subs. Twitch got WAY too greedy imo. 70/30 was more "fair". Not to mention the platforms also take cuts from the advertisers and sponsorships.

I think asking about their motivations/endgame at this point is futile. God only knows what's going on behind the scenes; wouldn't be the first time a competitor came up out of nowhere with huge monetary support, only to slowly die over time. MAYBE it's different with the creators/content they're promoting... but given that ppl like adin aren't completely on board and won't go all in, that seems like bad news. All the bad press, none of the upside.
Maybe there's a build in userbase; if gambling isn't allowed elsewhere, they know they'll be the main place for it. It makes it easy for creators to not change up their content. From a financial perspective, I'm assuming kick isn't paying them, the gambling company is; so that mitigates some of kick's losses.

What I do hope for though is that it hangs on long enough, or is enticing enough in the short term for big name streamers, that it forces Twitch and TH-cam to make some positive changes on the platforms. Probably some insane amounts of copium, but it would be good.
