    Dude.. I don't really watch TH-cam on TH-cam anymore, but I logged in just to sub to you for this. . Without a lift I thought this job was going to be nearly impossible, but you came in clutch my friend. Thanks for the walkthrough and great job.

    Best 2 videos ever! My 2008 Acadia is giving a thud when I slow down so need to investigate but if I should ever need to replace the transmission, your videos have encouraged me enough to do it myself. Good to know reprogramming is not needed as long as I find a used trans for same car.

    Great vid. Only thing I noticed on the top passenger side motor mount, the 66 lb-ft torque spec is for the 18mm bolts going though the mount bracket through the timing cover and into the engine block. All the other bolts on the mount are 43 lb-ft (in other words, both the ones you tightened only needed to be 43). Not a huge deal but would hate for someone to strip a bolt!

    Great videos! Do you have any idea on why my crankshaft won’t turn after installing the transmission?

    What does a job like this cost.i got a Buick enclave that supposed has a oil pan or timeing cover leak.and GM quote me 3400 dollars and I asked why so much they said I should replace timeing chain set why they removed engine.i see it's extensive work.they charge 140 he and jib was 12 hrs by computer still don't as up to 3500

    Great video, doing the rear main seal. Do you really need to remove the torque converter bolts to separate the transmission from the engine?

    • @debtminer4976
      @debtminer4976 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure if you did the job yet, but yes. To do the rear main seal, you're going to be removing the drive plate anyway. You could probably separate them without removing the torque converter, but since it's coming off anyway, I think this will honestly make your life easier.

  • @tedmay8720
    @tedmay8720 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    He said he replaced the torque converter as well, possibly maybe with the wrong yr/make/model? Would that cause it to be stuck in neutral though?

    Thank you so much your nice video ineed to change my 2010 acadia transmission and ather use one so the question ihave is do i need to reprogram the computer of transmission or not hope you reply me thanks again

    • @thecardoctor
      @thecardoctor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In my experience, the only time you need to reprogram is if you get a brand new techm for the transmission. If you go with used, you shouldn't have any problems as long as you get a transmission that is from your model and year you should be fine. Thanks for watching!

    Will the same procedure work on a 2012 Traverse? Also, was disconnecting all the electrical connections on the engine needed or did you notice some things you disconnected that you didn't need to? I have a Traverse with a bad transmission and am thinking about trying this.

    • @thecardoctor
      @thecardoctor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It should be pretty similar on a traverse but as far as connections go it's been a while so I I don't remember all the connections but usually you can leave a lot of the connections to the engine and transmission connected you just have to remove the main harness connections from the fuse block and ecm. Thanks for watching!

  • @JayC970

    So my dad bought a used acadia and we were doing a tune up and pretty much fixing everything that goes wrong with these and in doing so we came across two pretty big wire harnesses just cut in half near the brake fluid reservoir it runs and drives no problem idk what they could be or where they go we couldn’t find the other half to them

    • @thecardoctor
      @thecardoctor  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it runs and drives good and there are no lights on, it could be a part of the harness that was meant for an acadia with a different trim level that had some other module or something that your trim level doesn't have. I've ran into this issue on other cars and thats what it ended up being. Thanks for watching!!!

    Good video and very good explanation. Question: Why did you not do the timing chains since the engine was out of the car? One day, I expect to have to do the Transmission and the Timing chain. Thanks again

      The Timing chain in this vehicle had already been changed previously. Thanks for watching!

    Fantastic job this is one of the best videos I’ve seen as far as step by step guide. The torque specs sheet you were using is that some you put together or is there somewhere I can go to find it? I am about to do this to my 08 Saturn outlook seems very similar. I will be using these videos as a guide. Thank you

    great videos.. i read you said you used the tcm from the used transmission. reading more on this i seen it wants me to use the tcm from my car or order a new one and have it programmed to vin.. thoughts on this? is it ok to just use the tcm from donor car that is already inside the transmission?

    • @thecardoctor
      @thecardoctor  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am about to finish the removal and I will be replacing the transmission with a 2017 Traverse. My vehicle is a 2015 Traverse. Both are FWD models. Do you think it will work without needing reprogrammed? Thank you for the removal and installation video!

    • @thecardoctor
      @thecardoctor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This model was an 08 and I am unsure if programming will be required for a 2015. Thanks for watching!

    • @thecardoctor

      @JUSTINS AUTO REPAIR AND TUTORIALS right on I'm about to do this swap I'm a shop and this customer brought me a used transmission the yard wrote no filter on it so I guess I'll have to split the bell housing not sure why the heck they'd remove the filter

    2009 acadia 3.6 ,replacement transmission with Acadia 08 ¿need to flash or adapter?

    • @thecardoctor
      @thecardoctor  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I researched, as long as you aren't building the transmission and using a new computer, you dont have to program the computer. I went with a used transmission and all I had to do was reset the transmission adaptives on a scanner. You may be able to reset it without a scanner but im not sure how. Thanks for watching my video and please subscribe if you havent!

    Thanks

    • @thecardoctor
      @thecardoctor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I did not have to. You only need to reprogram the tehcm if it is new

    Excellent video Justin! It's given me the confidence to do this job myself. I have a few questions: When a transmission is replaced, I have read that the vehicle MUST NOT be driven until the TECHM has been "flashed" and "adaptive values" re-programmed into it. How did you accomplish that? Also, do you happen to have the part number for that torn O-ring that you replaced on the transfer case? Thank you!

    • @thecardoctor
      @thecardoctor  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was under that impression that the techm had to be flashed as well but after some research, as long as you get a used transmission with the same features as your vehicle, you will not have to have it flashed. And the o ring that I replaced I do not have a part number for it because I found one in my o ring pack that I have. You can probably find one at your local parts or hardware store. Thanks for watching my video!

    Do you have to program that replacement transmission to the acadia ?

    • @thecardoctor
      @thecardoctor  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't have to program mine because it was already programmed to that transmission because it was used. But if you rebuild the transmission and replace the transmission control module, you will have to program it.
