Thank you for posting this. I’m the one who had posted something on one of the 5th Gen RAM pages on Facebook about not having the proper stuff in order for it to work in my truck and you sent me a personal message with the link to this video. I got home from work on Monday and got the camera installed and made sure everything was working. Again, thanks for uploading this because I was about ready to lose my temper on Friday when it came in the mail and I had attempted to install it while watching the installation video for the B Model since they don’t have one for the A Model.
@@WaterFowler41 man, I’m waiting on the proper digital rearview mirror to come in. The one I’m running currently is meant for the other style plastic shroud so the camera bezel won’t attach properly. Lol I ordered the proper mirror right when I got confirmation on this camera and it still hasn’t shipped lol.
Thanks for the install tips. I have the same truck with the same shroud as your father. What kit or model do I need to buy for my ram 1500 Limited? Thanks for your assistance in this matter!
Been looking at getting one of these. Great video! Was this the 1080p or 4K model? I noticed while viewing your driving footage it was very hard to make out license plate numbers unless you were stopped at a light and right behind another vehicle. Also, I think the only downside to this camera is that it doesn’t have gps capabilities that show your speed. I’m not sure if that would really be needed but I guess I if you ever had to go in a court case due to an accident, as much information you could provide is best to show who’s in the wrong. Do you think there would be any chance the factory housing could be modified to fit and mount a camera inside of it?
It’s 4k the video like was compressed when I put it into my TH-cam video. When I watch videos on my phone from the camera I can zoom in on license plates easily
Just a quick question, how is the quality of the camera? I am lookin gat getting one but every time I look at peoples reviews and videos it seems choppy and grainy. Can't make out license plates or signs etc. My old 2k thinkware camera looks like it is better quality. I really want to get one but if the quality is not what they say (4k) then i may just have to get a new thinkware to replace my old camera that is not working anymore.
@@WaterFowler41 Yes, I did this with other Dash cams, (hard wired them for constant on) However, if it doesn't have parking mode it will drain your car battery over night. The Viofo also is capable of prebufferring in park mode, so you capture seconds before motion.
@@WaterFowler41 I’ve been using dash cams for years. The issue with this cam is that the image sensor isn’t current and the rear is only 1080p. There are dash cams that have Sony Starvis 2 image sensors that have amazing image quality both during the day and night. I also have a Ram 1500 and I understand the “built-in” factor.
Thank you for posting this well informative feed. I came across a reviewer of this product saying that in order to access live view, one needs to deactivate cellular connection? In this true in your experience?
@@WaterFowler41 Thanks for the info on the audio. I only question about the remote start cause you can't open a window when it's remote started I'd assume the smae with that. Atleast that's how it is on my 2023 ram
Not with how I have it wired, in order to have power when the truck is off you’ll need to run a power wire to a fuse that’s on all the time. You’ll need a cable from fitcam to do that
This exact camera got delivered today and install was as easy as you stated in the video.

Glad it helped! I remember chatting with you on the group. Sucks the mods won’t post my video in that group.
@@WaterFowler41 Right. If they’d allow it I’m sure you’d help out alot of other people with it as well.
Used the discount code. Still works thanks bro
Good to hear
Great setup love the yellow tractor running the light at the end. Lol
Yup, that was literally the first video footage I got! He blew the hell out of the light!
Awesome job with the video! Can’t wait to get mine going!
Thought you’d have it installed by now!

Installing tomorrow!!!!
Definitely going to look into this cam. However I have a 21 with rearview camera, concerned if this connection will interrupt.
check with fitcam before you order!
That's pretty cool! The tap in harness and the SD on the outside is pretty much a win all around!
It’s crazy easy to pull footage with the app too!
I love it when it looks factory nicely done!
Same here! It looks awesome!
Love mine.
I see on there website they now have one for my 16 Ram 2500 I got one coming.
Hell yeah. Finally something I can use bc I hated wired
preach brother!

I believe it was model b but I am not 100% sure. If you send a picture of your trucks shroud to Fitcam, they will confirm.

@@WaterFowler41 man I’m happy you did this video. Been meaning to get one but never did bc stupid wires

I included footage at the end of this video. Quality is great
Thanks for the great video. However, went with Viofo A139 Pro since Parking mode is a must these days..
The FitCam can be wired for constant power so parking mode can be used. It requires a wire be run down to the internal fuse box but very doable.

Do you regret not getting the 2 channel version? The 1 channel does not have the capability to add a rear cam.
I upgraded!

This one does everything I need at a great price points and doesn’t result in wires hanging all over the place.

All I do to access the videos is connect to the camera through the app. I do not need to deactivate anything.
@@WaterFowler41 Thank you for the prompt response 🙂
Awesome video. Definitely on my buy list. Where do I buy? Amazon?
Yup you can get them on Amazon or their site, I think the price is about the same.
Wish i could add that but i have the standard manual mirror in my rebel
I wasn’t aware 5th gens have another mirror option.
@@WaterFowler41 yea did some checking have 3 different ones for ram trucks
Bobby Messer dang, and your truck is a 5th gen not a “classic” right?
Is this recording inside cab sound constantly while driving?
You have that option but no one wants to listen to me singing some taytay
I assume no audio is recorded, also does it turn on and record when you remote start?
It can record audio I have it turned off. Not sure about remote start but I would assume yes, once the trucks on the cameras on

How is the video quality in the night , can you see the plates numbers in the other cars when you check the video?
Haven’t driven at night yet but will this weekend and I’ll throw some footage on my Instagram

My only wish is that that UI was better and could be accessible remotely. I bought the wiring kit so it records constantly.
Awesome! Fairly easy to run the wire down to the fuse panel?
Whats the video like at night?
I'll try to post some on my Instagram this week! Stay tuned
Did you get the A or B version?
A
A dashcam is good for any car.
Couldn’t agree more!
Making me spend more money 😂
I mean, fathers day is right around the corner….
Does anyone get the back camera with the kit?
Several folks on 5th GE rams have and love it
Show front view.
Head over to my instagram for more pictures of the camera and additional dash cam footage
