    Never underestimate the importance of sauteeing your vegetable base. It adds so much flavour for very little effort.
    Also 15 beans? A lot of variety for one bag!

      Yeah… with 15 types of beans, there has to be some in there that even the pickiest person will like. This is a real easy, tasty and filling soup. One of my favorites.

      I have watched a few ASMR cooking videos. I don’t do it for the tingles…I do it to watch the outstanding camera work. Some of those channels have some outstanding video and editing going on. I have been throwing around the idea of doing an ASMR snow shoveling video. It has to be the right snow texture and weather. Hopefully I can pull that off.

    Nice and easy recipe Rob! But it would be better with hot and sweet, spicy corn bread to enjoy with it. Use a cast Iron skillet.
    Here's the recipe I use;
    In a mixing bowl use 1 package of Jiffy corn meal mix
    1 egg
    1/3 cup of milk
    1 1/4 jar of chopped Jalapeno in liquid (Your relatives are fine)
    1/2 package of minced bell peppers
    4 chopped of crisp fried bacon strips.
    1 tablespoon of sugar
    Pre heat your oven to 400 degrees. Mix well in the bowl, then add it to your cast iron skillet with 1/4 of a
    stick of butter. Then cook it for 30 minutes at 400 degrees.

    Hey Rob, I love hot soups when it's freezing outside so thank you for the recipe!
    When you said you were gonna use the slow cooker I thought you might be starting a new series of "lazy man" recipes where you throw together canned stuff and call it a day 😂 but I knew that's not you, in fact you had a good amount of prep time for this one.
    The final result looks great, my favourite part is how thick and cloudy the broth looks cause it means it'll be nice and savory.
    We're around 28F here in Italy so I'll be havin a nice veggie soup over the weekend too, hope yours will be great.
    And yeah, I dunno who'd provide this as comfort food in August but you know that they say...different strokes for different folks. 😉

    • @RobMilanowski
      @RobMilanowski  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, this definitely is a nice thick, hearty soup. It has been below freezing here for nearly a week now. I was hoping it would warm up because I still have a couple things that need to get done outside before “real” winter kicks in. I’ve lived in this part of the country, my entire life. So I know the next three months are going to be cold and messy. Oh well, I’ll still have good days.
      I need to make it back to Italy. I visited there in 2010 at the end of July. It was so hot then, but we had a great time.

    • @RobMilanowski
      @RobMilanowski  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You ask a very good question. Cooking anything in a slow cooker over a long period of time is going to very much tenderize the texture. I’m fairly sure if I would not have sautéed the onions and peppers, they still would’ve become very soft after cooking for that length of time in the slow cooker. I did not notice any mushiness with these vegetables. I know it brought out the sweetness of the onions more by sautéing them. So, I’d say sautéing is the way to go.
