Several years ago, my sweet niece wanted broccoli and rice casserole, so being a good aunt, I made some for her. I knew it didn't look right. It had been just one of those days where if it could go wrong, it will! Later that night, I got up in bed and said, ". I forgot the RICE!!! ." Mama Mel my Grandma raise me she got me when she was 54 years old and I was 2, she had raised her kids on home cooking for me everything was out of the freezer or can, the only chicken and dumplins I ever got were Sweet Sue brand. When I was 15 the youth group at church had a youth meeting with a meal after and Ms. Sue brought a huge dutch oven full of home made chicken and dumplins, I don't remember any veggies in it but I do remember eating them until I was almost sick they were so good.
Crockpot recipes make so many life’s simpler when it comes to cooking, they also are some of the most delicious!! “My Grandmother, My Angel” who passed 8 years ago today got me into cooking, & especially loving my crockpot!! 💜

In my neck of the woods there are absolutely no veggies in chicken and dumplings. And the dumplings are fluffy like biscuits, not flat and like a noodle. It's basically chicken, biscuits and gravy. Everything looks great! Hope ya'll had a great 4th!

It's just my husband and I here. I use my crockpot all the time. I even have one in the camper. They are great to cook a meal while you're working or out kayaking. :) Great recipes!

Im alot older than you and my grandmother's and any in our family only made chicken and dumplings plain no veggies in it and it was good because they usually cooked a whole chicken slow to bring out the flavor of the chicken and it was thick. Ever since I started watching you I've used my crockpot more than I ever did and I've had it for 30 years lol! Thanks a lot because now that I'm older I don't like to stand over a stove 😉

Great recipes. When I’m adding cream cheese to a soup, I take a ladle of the warm broth and put in a blender with the cream cheese and blend together. Forms a smooth consistency and you don’t have to worry about any lumps. Thank you for the recipe ideas.

Not gonna lie...I panicked a little when I saw your thumbnail. Lol! My crockpot is the most used appliance in my kitchen all year round. The meals that can be made in them almost always turn out delicious and the convenience of them makes it a win win. These recipes all look so delicious and I will definitely be trying many of them. My original chicken and dumplings recipe does not call for veggies and for years that's how i made it. I've only recently started adding them. These are wonderful Crock-Pot recipes. It is too hot to use our oven in our state right now. It is also too hot to use our stove top. I love crock-pot recipes for the Summers, and I can't wait to try these recipes.

My grandma always chicken & dumplings but I don’t remember vegetables in it. I think that vegetables have since been added over the years but it’s good both ways. Thanks for some more great ideas. Always appreciated. See ya next week

My mom made fabulous chicken & dumplings. They were the fluffy kind. About the size of a tennis ball. Sooo delicious. No veggies added but I’ve added them to mine and think it’s delicious too❤

Make your own everything mel spice ! Add your favorites to one huge seasoning continer , thats what i did with mine. Cuts out any dragging out spices quick easy instant 👍just like everything bagel but my spices . EB( everything bagel) is my base then i add the rest I love 😊

No veges in my mama's chicken and dumplings. She rolled her dumplings very thin and dropped them into the boiling broth of a "good fat hen". They were soo good.

Mel I made the cheesy chicken and potatoes and I think they could use some changes. I would use salt and pepper in each layer and then again on top. Maybe use sharp cheddar for more flavor. It was bland but we all added a bunch of salt to our portions and it was better.
Of course, add in as much salt or other seasonings as you like. And I think sharp cheddar and even some Pamesean is good in this dish. I'm so glad you tried it and adjusted it to your tastes, my family likes to drizzle ranch dressing on potato dishes like this so I try and watch the salt initially 😉 they use too much ranch dressing in my opinion 🤣
I live alone so crock pot recipes gives too much in the way of left overs. So therefore I end up with an overload of left over freezer meals. I’m going to search for a one or two servings at the most in a crock pot recipes. It’s hard and time consuming for me to decrease a 6 serving crock pot meal down to one or two serving meal. But your recipes are very nice.

You have to try the Lamb Weston grown in Idaho hash browns. They are nearly like eating fresh diced potatoes. I’ve seen them at Walmart and HEB. They are larger than the ones you used. They are really a great product.
Definitely going to try the cheese fried tortillas next time I make quesadillas.
