A bunch of genuine RC's were imported to New Zealand from Japan in 2001, a few years ago i started keeping track of them as they come up for sale, so far i have seen 15 RC's trading hands! 2 of them i now own
I loved my 93 GT-4, had the battery in the trunk to free up space for the short ram intake and had a cat delete with 3 inch exhaust pipe. It had its fair share of electrical issues but still a joy to drive.
Great watch. Had a Celica ST 5-speed new in 1991. I’m buying a JDM 93 GT-4 (not the RC) that the original owner put the RC hood and grill on. Sharp. Also. You’re not on the wrong side of the car. You’re on the right side of the car. ; )
This video is awesome! I have been a fan of the Celica since my cousin bought his Celica GT 15 years ago. Not a gt four/rc. But still a great looking car in my opinion.
Glad you liked it! The GT is a great car; I loved the Celica GT engine I swapped into my MR2 Spyder. Now if you really want the 4WD, you might want the RC...!
A quick google search shows that the same year Lexus ES (V6 Camry platform) uses the same slightly oversized unit as the RC version of the GT4. These cars are freaking everywhere in the US. The only problem I know of is their legendary reliability (Even beyond what all Toyota’s enjoy) kind of works against you in this regard. Nevertheless, I know several junkyards in Houston Texas that have them. I would call ALTO Autoparts as their prices are very reasonable, they have a large stock of Lexus cars and if they don’t have it they will call around until they find someone who does. Good luck
I had one in the exact same colour in canada. it had an engine fire. There was posts of it on alltrac.net which is a great resource for this car by the way. I fit mine with a TWM short shifter. those shifts on that car are looooong. like truck long. make sure you check the seams of the hatch to make sure the rust is prevented. also check under the full size spare for any water. Those vented amber tail lights are also horrible for water entering.
Engine fire, oh noooo! I had a MWR short shifter on my MR2 Spyder; completely different cars but likely the same concept. I love those short clicky shifts. Amber tails are great - why don't more manufacturers sell them in the US? But if there's water coming in, whoa, watch out for rust!
the GT4 was more of an underdog than mentioned in the video no only were the other Toyotas overshadowing them, the Subies and Evos were also overshadowing them I want a ST185 GT4 (RC?) and a K20 swapped NA miata in the future
Wow, so these things have ended up all over the world now! USA, NZ, Ireland, Japan of course, and now France. I wonder if there are any countries without a GT-Four RC.
So, how do you know its the first one of its kind in the US? I mean, its a pretty good guess.. but sounds more like a speculation than a fact. As the owner of a few rare JDM's in the US I cant figure out how one would get this information.
Andre Skandar I found out a short while after that a few of them made it into the US secretly before they were technically legal for the public to import..
Actually I know it was the first RC legally imported under the 25 year federal rule. There are others that were already imported but by military service
It's hard to find information on BEAMS engines it seems, but your comment prompted some research. 8:20 for anyone concerned. To expand on @TS Media's comments, it seems this was an ST205 engine swapped into his MR2 - with the subtraction of the turbocharger, which would explain the NA ST205 BEAMS red top swap into his MR2.
thanks! if I can't find one that I can get I may take a 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage and fully convert it to a EVO 5 or 6 (even the 4G63T and AWD system) and too many horror stories associated with the Subies
yeah and the beauty of the rally specials is that lightly tuned or stock even can match the Skylines in performance so sleeper within a class of sleepers? but the thing is RC's and STi's have a low performance ceiling (in the eyes of completely bonkers GTRs) but are still very fast. and to me it seems like the EVOs are the only ones that can keep up to the 1000 hp+ GTRs and on circuit the others can still keep up thanks to the corners (where all 3 shine/are meant to be)

+セリカ night They're very cool cars! NZ didn't get them from the start like Australia?
I honestly don't know if we got any new RC's from the start, it's possible we got a few but nothing like the 150 'Grp A Rallye' Australia got

Older cars always have electrical issues it seems - but that battery replacement would definitely help weight distribution!
Seeing the same car makes you always happy.
My celica gt four rc is a 1991 super red color from Italy.
Very rare car. Champion wrc 92 93 94
+jamesbondenry Peter takes really good care of his RC. It's a pleasure to see any time. Yours is beautiful as well!
Thanks for sharing! I own no. 4633 and it has always been my dream car 😀

As an experienced driver, you know what feels right.....
SHIT
HAHAHA best comment ever! You win this round, TN Lo.
It’s that RHD! IDK how you guys do it!
A few of them here in Ireland.Imported my white 1991 GT4 RC from Japan 2 months ago.Love it.One of the best Toyotas ever built
That's awesome! I hope you're loving yours as much as Peter loves his.

I’ve been running an RC engine with a WRC turbo and manifold in mine since 2009. Amazing engine
It's got great pull and an amazing sound! Lucky you!!!
懐かしいです。まだこの車をお持ちですか?この個体は自分が日本で所有していた個体です。TTEのシールもシリアルプレートも自分でつけた場所です。綺麗に大切に乗ってくれてありがとうございます。
Oh yeah! Big Ups to all the GT4 owners out there! 🤟
Wow i love the resto-mod wheels. Really make the car
04dram04 These are incredible, but check out what he's got on the car now! instagram.com/p/BiNe8siA9wb/

When I’m driving my 92’ GT convertible, I Dream I’m in the turbo RC.
Lots of upgrade potential there... is there a turbo in your future?
海外では“サインツ・エディション”の名で販売。伝説の限定車
Awesome car, great vid. Like most Americans, I also found my love for JDM cars from GT!
+Michael Hawkins Thank you, and it really is an awesome car! Nothing could beat that ST185 in Castrol livery in Gran Turismo.
Lol, not the first in the US ;) But still something to be proud of!
Devin Pashby I found that I wasn’t the first a short while after this video. But still a great car to own and still a rarity
Once the mass air flow sensor goes . U can’t find another for it. My RC bin sitting for four years now I’m so heart broken
I have number 327
I’ve got one somewhere in the garage. Not difficult to find at all. Several Lexus use the same unit
I’m sorry to hear about that. I hope you get it running in the future

Looks like there's some good resources for replacements! Let us know when you have it running again!!!
I had one in the exact same colour in canada. it had an engine fire. There was posts of it on alltrac.net which is a great resource for this car by the way. dudamara thank you for those great tips!!! I have checked on all those areas plus more. It is a very sound chassis

Hey, I know this guy! He lives near me and goes to meets with us!
the GT4 was more of an underdog than mentioned in the video no only were the other Toyotas overshadowing them, the Subies and Evos were also overshadowing them I want a ST185 GT4 (RC?) and a K20 swapped NA miata in the future
K20 swapped Miata? That is a swap I'd love to see! NA torque in a body it's not meant to belong in... :P
3sge beams engines were from ST202s not ST205s.
Might have been a turbo subtraction or some other confusion; check my reply to @Webweasel - we might figure it out yet!
St205 is 3sgte
3s ge is a most common sporty engine in Toyota’s and it has not only come in celica
Toyota golden era I own a 91 mr2 turbo, and the parts are easy to find for these motor if you breaks it
Red top is not from a ST205.
That was a GTFOUR with a 3SGTE
Thanks Zach!!!
+Peter Terry No, thank you!
Still got mine. France.
Wow, so these things have ended up all over the world now! USA, NZ, Ireland, Japan of course, and now France. I wonder if there are any countries without a GT-Four RC.
Zachary P. Hill yes, there were 300 for France. And from my memory a bit more in Italy. Found the link : www.turbocelica.nl/csregister.htm
Rarest Toyota my opinion
So, how do you know its the first one of its kind in the US? I mean, its a pretty good guess.. but sounds more like a speculation than a fact. As the owner of a few rare JDM's in the US I cant figure out how one would get this information.
Andre Skandar I found out a short while after that a few of them made it into the US secretly before they were technically legal for the public to import..
So this might be the first *legal* RC in the US!
Actually I know it was the first RC legally imported under the 25 year federal rule. There are others that were already imported but by military service
Lovely car :)
No beams in the st205, st202 yes, later MR2's yes, but the st205 is the gen 3 3SGTE, no beams ever.

where would you look for a GT4/Alltrac in the states or import from Canada or Japan?
I doubt you'd find one for sale in the US, but kijiji.ca has some imports occasionally in Canada. Good luck finding your dream car!
thanks! if I can't find one that I can get I may take a 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage and fully convert it to a EVO 5 or 6 (even the 4G63T and AWD system) and too many horror stories associated with the Subies
Evos, STIs, RCs, I don't care, I love all the rally specials! Get that Evo swap going!!!
yeah and the beauty of the rally specials is that lightly tuned or stock even can match the Skylines in performance so sleeper within a class of sleepers? but the thing is RC's and STi's have a low performance ceiling (in the eyes of completely bonkers GTRs) but are still very fast. and to me it seems like the EVOs are the only ones that can keep up to the 1000 hp+ GTRs and on circuit the others can still keep up thanks to the corners (where all 3 shine/are meant to be)
legally in the country silly
Are those compomotive wheels or the ESM ones?
Joseph Celica they are Compomotive TH1781’s. Bought them new since the OZ’s are very difficult to find
Is he aware that he can make huge power from this and still have good handling?
Carlos sainz yo.
That s*** way too bumpy
Peter's got it tightened up for asphalt racing, but the original configuration would better handle some bumps!
