    BOHO style is all the rage in North Texas! Has it hit your area yet? What do you think of this '70's vibe trend?

    • @rockshot100
      @rockshot100 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really all that boho, to me. Could be almost modern, but definitely could be transitional. In short the color and style would fit into many different schemes. Great call to take that skirt off. Wonderful work as usual. I came in at the end, so my comments were redundant about the color, I said it was a comfy color, I said it looks like a muted terra cotta, which in fact is the name of it. I am hurt that you didn't even say hello. I don't know your name, sorry about the "Lemon Lady", if that offended you.😥😭💖

      Oh no!! I did say hello! It cut off at the end so I left you a comment on here to comment again so I could catch you! We adore your support! Chris got a kick out of your dad bod comment lol! He’s naturally thin that lucky guy! I hope your week is excellent!!

      @@LemonstoLemonadeFurniture I did think you were ticked, but all is good. I am sure it is hard to keep up with the comments.
      Right now farm house is passé, not a bad style but there is too much of it, so it is trite. "BoHo" to me, means garish, disjointed hippy. This is understated elegant. Linda Holt eloquently defines the style, better than me. You both are naturals at this, from picking the right furniture to completion. This is a far cry from what "statuesque-like" Chris used to do, but I assume he likes this work. BTW, I am naturally thin, but have trouble putting on muscle. God bless you both, love your channel and work.

      @LemonstoLemonadeFurniture  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no no promised not ticked in the least bit! You are a favorite! lol Thank you! I do like to find these late 80's pieces that turn into this new trend pretty easily! Texas sure does like it that's for sure!

      @@LemonstoLemonadeFurniture I noticed all the gushy remarks, like GOREOUS, WONDERFUL, etc. Do not help you but maybe build your ego. I have a strong design background and I have always appreciated an honest opinion. Barry is the only other one I am as honest with. If I don't like the color doesn't mean I don't like him personally. Often somebody will point out something that never occurred to me.
      I thought the term, "Statuesque-like Chris" would give you a laugh. He really is in great shape, and love how precise he is. Sloppy work is really obvious. You two are a great team.💕

    So no primer? Every time I attempt no primer project has to be resanded down. Is it because it’s chalk paint?

    I wish you hadn't painted this. A nice dark brown Kona stain would have looked much, much better. Painting should only be a last resort, when a piece is so damaged, that staining is not an option.

    • @FurnitureWarriors
      @FurnitureWarriors 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Rob! We do a lot of staining, but we also do painting. When you're doing this as a business, you come to the realization that there are many more people who will purchase a painted 80's piece like this before one that is stained. Also, trying to restain much of the 80's furniture is very time consuming and tough to get an even look because of the variety of the materials that were used to put a piece together. Yes, maybe a stain would have looked good too, but there are so many other considerations when getting a look that others want to purchase. I think this was a great job of updating!

      Thank you Jim & Cindy! So true when this is your profession. Dallas loves painted styles so that's what we give them! When you do this to put food on the table...you gotta follow the trends! We are so grateful for you both!

    Hi! Brand new subbie here. I've recently been considering doing some small flips here in the DFW area as well to try and pay off some debt. I guess that's how I came across your channel! Right now I'm just working on my own bedroom furniture and have learned a LOT just doing that! Pretty happy that farmhouse is going out as I really "dig" boho. :) Thank you for your inspiration and and guidance!

    Nothing in a dresser but I found a revolver in a desk once. I got the desk from my godmother who got from her uncle who owned a lumber yard in the early 1900s so it was quite old. She didn't want the gun but I have a friend who is a collector and gave it to him.

    That was just a beautiful piece to start with. That hardware is very nice. In the 80's if you could even afford Thomasville, Bassett or Henredon you were uptown, if you know what I mean. Definitely quality pieces. I'm not fond of painting furniture; however, I have if the piece was nearly destroyed anyway. I kinda cringed when I saw you get the paint out, then...I saw that earthy tone. That is a nice color! When you said Terra cotta, I was expecting a lot more orange. It is definitely not orange! Not on my screen, anyway.
    Bottom line is ...it turned out great! 🙂👍

    Alternatively, if you ever need to do a vinegar bath again but cannot have part of something exposed to vinegar, you can use liquid latex as a barrier. You paint it on, dip, then peel it off. I make jewelry and often have stones that cannot be exposed to water or sulphuric solutions used for patina, and many jewelers use liquid latex.

    Can i ask how you choose your pieces? And do you have a goal cost per piece (what you pay not including materials)? Also, how do you price them, and do you boost them on marketplace or just list ? Thanks 😊

    • @LemonstoLemonadeFurniture
      @LemonstoLemonadeFurniture  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Brenda! I look for super unique pieces and tend to stay away from run of the mill. Everyone does those and I like our pieces to stand out when we list them. We have a reputation for selling on-trend and unique in our area. Our area is saturated with furniture painters so we found a niche awhile back. I just list on FBM, no boost but our FB business page sells a lot for us as we have been at this for awhile now. I don't like to spend more than $80-$100 on an item but these days that can be tricky. We spend closer to $150 for nice dressers. Our dressers will usually go between $550 and $850. Hope that helps!

    Here in Central IL we're definately behind everyone else-- what sells best is natural wood dressers , w/ handles from the 70's spray painted shiny black. Also Farmhouse is still the thing. Price point about $200 for a fixed up 9 drawer dresser so we have to buy our pieces at rock bottom prices. French Provincial is very hot and flys out the door if painted all white with black handles!

      Stephanie Morriss Thank you! We appreciate you watching! As long as you have a quality poly at the end, I havent had any issues. They need to be cleaned well as dirt and grime will chip paint over time. I don't think I included it in the video, but I taped around all of the hinges and gave them a very good scrub with Bar Keepers Friend. Should insure a strong grip once poiy is applied. Hope that helps!
