MORE ABOUT JAN.......
Jan Cyrka is probably best known for three solo albums full of meaty guitar playing: "Beyond the Common Ground", "Spirit" and "Prickly Pear". However, Jan's career began in the 1980s when he was guitarist-in-chief with cartoon biker band Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction, supporting Guns 'n' Roses on extensive tours of the US and Canada. He now composes and records music for a variety of clients and his music has appeared on TV shows and movies such as Friends, Hi-Fidelity (John Cusack), The Fast and the Furious, Saturday Night Live, America's Most Wanted, Wife Swap, The Jeremy Kyle Show, Absolutely Fabulous and many others.
Jan produced the monthly instructional CD accompanying Guitarist magazine for over ten years, and has worked with many of the world's finest players in his studio, including Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert, Mick Taylor, Pat Travers, Yngwie Malmsteen, Jerry Donohue, Billy Sheehan and Zakk Wylde. Jan also produced and mixed Guthrie Govan incredible first album 'Erotic Cakes'.
Phenomenal talent. Lovely. He's so good he doesn't need a chair.
Jan was my first electric guitar teacher from Guitarist Magazine nearly 30 years ago. This was one of the first lessons from Melodic Rock/Hoodlum Corner(?) sections. Beautiful piece of music. I frequently come back and watch this. I wish we had youtube all those years ago.
Unbelievable performance. That song is phenomenal. Has the same level of feeling as The loner by Gary Moore.
That is possibly one of the best guitar tones I've ever heard.
With so much shredding on TH-cam it's refreshing to listen to a guitarist like Jan who can compose, produce and play from the heart with such emotion. Although he can play fast, evidently here it's often the simplest and subtleties of music which are the most moving. This track is beautiful.
Jan has always been a dynamic player with a unique style & an uncanny use of trem bar techniques. One awesome player with such great tones.
I always loved the Gary Moore vibe of this song. Used to play this when going to bed in my teens. Hearing it again now is a trip!
This is the essence of music. It is pure melody!!! Great!!

I could never get over the precision skills of the wammy bar, even the volume knob is used with style.

@guitarralaraja
He's using the Bridge pickup all the way through. It's a PRS HFS humbucker. Cheers!
I love the late 80s early 90s esque piano at 2:07, reminds me of early episodes of Baywatch LOL.
Sweet!
Amazing...mine and my daughters favorite so far. \ m /
I had your album way back 1995(-ish), and learned to play that song. Brings back memories, I love it.
I saw Jan live in Romford, Essex when he was using the Trace Elliot amps with the 3 angled speakers.

@Explosive184 Jan has one of the best vibrato tones in the business. How he does it doesn't matter, the notes a phrases he produces are beautiful.

This was 100% FEELING dude!
Keeping Rocking...
I like fast guitar playing styles, but quite often I find it much more difficult to do
slow phrasing and to tell a story with a lot of feeling and melody. You are a great guitar player Mr. Cyrka. 5 stars.
Danm thats nice!! Great job! Beautiful tone and tremolo bends! Cool krammer like that pickup config and inlays!!

Cool Tone‼️
beautiful tone and use of tremolo/vibrato 5 stars most definitely i'd kill to have a tone as sweet as that
great sound...
Definitely going to learn this on my guitar. Great stuff. Not all "Let's see how many notes I can play" type of playing that I am so sick of seeing.
no one is holding a gun to your head and making you watch people play fast. I cant stand Hip Hop but there is nothing i can do to change that lol Just listen to whatever type of music works best for you and dont put others down. Some people just enjoy playing fast.

I was stating an opinion, dude, Jesus, take a chill pill. I wasn't saying playing bad was bad, just that too many people focus on it as a benchmark for skill, and it was refreshing to see a video like this. I wasn't actually putting anyone down, so really no need to be a douche. It's not like I was posting hate on a video where a guy was playing fast, and going out of my way to be a dick.
Hip hop is way of life!!! 😀
Let me ask you a question. If you were simply listening with your eyes closed... would it matter? Does it matter what kind of brush a painter uses as long as they make a beautiful painting? Music is art... and as such is not restricted by rules.... just the creation of art. I listen to this and hear a person with incredible feel and sense of melody. Period. Bravo to a beautiful song and performance.
brilliant !!!
Amazing!!!! :D
Hey Man I love your Kramer!
Amazing tone and melody!
I've read all the comments here and I do not understand how a minority can suggest this melody would be improved with wider vibrato and the use of finger vibrato rather than using a whammy! To use a wider vibrato would be like having a delicate cake with a metre of icing on the top. This track is perfect and it makes no difference what so ever if finger or a whammy bar is used for vibrato. The end result is what matters not the tools used.
Nice point of view
now i understand!
thanks~
@Islandsoundzz - "After School", "This Land" and "Road to Glory" are also great songs in addition to "I Remember" ...please upload some more songs and I hope Jan Cyrka release some new material.this is some of the most emotional playing I have heard in a long time....
This guy is completely outstanding, as a guitarist in progress im finding more out of what i want in guitar playing from people like him and steve vai, who i hear some influence of in there
That's a really nice tone u have there
Jan where the f did you go ? need to see more of you, beautiful beautiful playing, every time i listen to the pear album it makes me weep....for all the right reasons of course ;-)
great guitar and tone!
Does anyone else think his guitar tone is fucking incredible?
He's always had great tone when he recorded for Guitarist magazine in the 1990's CD
Ładnie CYRKAsz na gitarze:)
This song, is the living proof that you don't need to be extremely fast and extremely techinical to create beautiful and emotional songs!
@TheBonehead777
He did use the Hamer Diablo for quite some time (which he still owns) but eventually succumbed to the superiority of the Nightswan. The Palmbay was something that was about to happen but in reality didn't. Just one of those things!
pozdrowienia z Polski:)
super sound!°!
the whammy vibrato is as subtle and perfect as i've ever heard, imo.
Awesome.
Very nice, this piece totaly got me on the very first 5 seconds, dont know why :D
