    Note: This video is for those systems that have efi mode. If you have legacy then dont do it as you will get errors while configuring boot menu. Thank me later for saving you from your dad's belt.

    Thanks for the great video. Very clear. When I created the FAT32 partition the installer gave a warning that the EFI partition was too small and that it should be at least 1GB. I took the warning seriously and used 1024MB instead of 512MB. Except for this, I did everything like you did and it worked like a charm. Installed PopOS! on a Win 11 laptop (Thinkpad X270) if that helps.

    • @sandipsky8756
      @sandipsky8756  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Ya u don't actually need 1024 mb efi partition, the new version of pop os makes it mandatory to create 1024 mb efi instead of 512 mb which kinda sucks because u could just create 100mb efi and get away with it in arch linux

    This worked perfectly for me, thank you! The only slight extension I had to do was move Pop OS to the top of the boot priority order (BIOS > Boot > Boot Priority Order) in order to enter the screen to select the OS on boot. Otherwise it would just boot straight into Windows. Acer Laptop; Windows 11.

But I'll come back to this video hopefully in Pop_OS! On my machine to tell if it worked and EDIT this comment! (And by the way great video well explain and the pace was spot on with the music)

I already run pop os and whonix in virtual machines on my desktop. I am a web designer and blogger and have been transitioning away from windows. Using the 480s in dual boot will be perfect when I am on the go. Thanks for making this clear installation guide.

    as I specifically needed dual boot, having to deal with these things right from the start, and being at the mercy of reddit, forums and whatnot, was an unpleasant experience, especially with my expectations inflated by the praises of pop os. i just reformatted and installed ubuntu (mate) over pop. if they're removing grub, they need a good replacement or offer a work around that doesn't require a phd degree in patience.

    What is the process to remove the dualboot menu? For some reason other bootable devices no longer show up in UEFI boot menu. I'm trying to resize my linux partition with Gparted on a USB drive but I can't boot, only boot options I get are pop os, windows, and the dualboot menu. I attempted to remove this via windows cmd prompt: bcdedit /remove efi-boot-id but it still shows up surprisingly when I restart my computer.
    Seeing other users have had similar issues, e.g trying to triple boot but the old OS is no longer visible in boot menu.

      Go to bios menu and set ur windows boot manager to be at the top, this should make ur PC automatically boot into windows on startup, then on windows use tools like mini tool partition wizard to delete the pop os root and pop os efi partition which we created during install that should do the trick

    Everything worked just fine until the command at 10:45 , now I can't boot into Windows anymore and it doesn't show up as a boot option in the boot manager aswell. I know my Windows partition is still there and in tact because I can browse it in the Files explorer in Pop. The error message I get says:
    'cp: cannot stat '/mnt/windows/EFI/Microsoft': No such file or directory'
    My guess is that my BIOS wasn't an up-to-date UEFI and that's why it might not have worked. On the System Information tab it said 'previous version', but I checked my BIOS and used the cmd prompt to make sure it was UEFI.
    Any idea on how to get my Windows partition to show up as a boot option again until I'm ready to switch to Linux completely? Cheers
