Thanks so much. I followed the guide. It works for me. For those who has issues with the boot loader not show up when pressing the spacebar, you need to add 'timeout 10' without quotes to /boot/efi/loader/loader.conf then reboot to change the timeout manually.
It important to note several things not mentioned in the video - Your storage devices have to be in AHCI mode otherwise the partitions will not appear in Pop OS. My Dell XPS 15 came with 2 SSDs configured in RAID. You have to disable hard disk encryption (if encrypted), enable safe mode on Windows 11, restart and go to boot menu and change RAID to AHCI. Restart and go back into Windows, remove safe mode and re-encrypt your hard disk (if encrypted) - Some machines, to get the boot menu, you have to press F8 (Dell XPS for example) instead of space bar. Then you can press 't' multiple times to increase the boot menu delay.
I have been having this problem, and finding the answer has been rough. I knew that I needed my storage to be AHCI, but I didn’t know quite how to get there and this helps a lot. Thanks for this comment!!

I don;t often comment on youtube videos but this made things super easy. I often boot from USB to use my linux system but it's super handy dualbooting without issues. Systemd is great
Is it a good idea to dual boot pop os 22.04 LTS and windows 11 without adding the windows boot menu to system d boot? I asked this question because each of the time during an update (especially firmware update, bios update) the system needs to restart, and during the restart the system goes into bootloader ,and most of the time the update remains incomplete. So by not adding the windows boot entry on system d boot, anytime i restart from pop os i land up in pop os , and restart from windows lands in windows and the update will be completed. The only con is that i will need to press the F12 keyto go to temporary boot each time i switch on the laptop, or it will boot according to priority. Is that right, or is there any disadvantages of doing so? Please help
Hello, I found your video very informative. Could you please create a tutorial on how to dual boot Parrot OS with a dedicated boot partition? Additionally, it would be helpful if you could include steps on how to safely remove this setup in the end. Thank you.
it's really great video thank you 💘.but i am facing some issue's with my wifi (disbaled the fast boot) and sometimes my laptop freeze's can you help me with that if possible ?
Thanks for the detailed guide, however are there anyway to prioritize booting to windows 11 first before pop os ? i just want pop os to be my 2nd operating system
Great tutorial, I installed Pop Os on my Omen 15 ce. Now I have w10 on a nvme ssd and Pop Os on a normal ssd. However, I couldn't enable dual booting as shown in the video, I followed every step and typed the commands as instructed and every time I reset my PC Pop Os boots normally, I have to boot w10 from the BIOS options. Could someone tell me if there was a difference if both systems were installed on different ssds?
Hi!, thank you! I have a question. Is it recommended to frecuently copy again the Microsoft folder from Windows EFI to POP efi, in order to apply any changes or updates that Microsoft could make to it? or is it that it will remain unchanged since its installation? Thank you
I am completely new to Linux. Hopefully you might be able to answer my question if you dont mind At the beginning of your video you are talking about systemd-boot, but as far as I know PopOS 22.04 is coming with Grub or I am mistaken? At least I found this information on several sites. But the main question or problem is that I am owning 2 PCIE SSDs, on the first W10 is installed and I would like to install Pop OS from USB-stick on the second SSD, completely independent from W10. Is it possible during Pop OS installation to choose on which SSD the installation and more important the Bootloader is installed to? If not would it help to unplug the windows ssd temporarily for the Pop OS installation and plug it in afterwards? Last question, when using W10 or W11 I need secure boot, so do I have to reactivate it everytime I want to boot into Windows instead of Pop OS? Thank you very much :)
1) First Off, POP OS uses System D Bootloader. You can install grub after the installation. 2) POP OS doesn't not support *secure boot*, you must disable it. Otherwise rely on Ubuntu and Fedora. 3) Yes you can easily use Second PCIE based SSD to install pop os (Standalone ). the procedure is same creating bootable USB and All. But, During the installation, you will see an option called *ERASE DISK or CLEAN Install* select that and choose your secondary SSD. Don't worry it doesn't harm your windows 11 or 10 on first SSD.
It doesn't work for me. I do have Microsoft folder copied to the /boot/efi/EFI folder . It just starts with pop os directly. I also went to bios and moved the 'windows boot manager' (There were 2) up and lowered pop os but that opens just windows. EDIT: Found the solution. Keep pressing T to increase the boot manager time. Perhaps it was too fast for me to notice previously. Also...my one has two POP_OS....one says something like current.kern and other one says old.kern. I did have pop os before but deleted that installed a new one due to space reasons.
good guide. still, my win10 started to fix C disk after installation. pop os worked normally, also added os-prober stuff but it doesn't work. is this fixing of c disk is ok? or it'll erase also linux data?
Hi, that was a easy guide for beginner, i have one question though what if i kept my windows in c drive and installed popos in d drive ? how can i add WinBM to boot menu from terminal.....
how can I add the 3rd OS? Got Windows & Pop and want to add also Kali for school but I don't want to delete Windows for Games ^^ thanks for your Guide and happy holidays (:
I have completed all the required steps and everything went smoothly on the Pop!_OS terminal. However, even though I changed the boot priority in the BIOS, Windows 11 always starts up when I turn on my computer. To access Pop!_OS, I have to press F11 during startup. What could be missing?
Would this method work for the OS being on seperate NVME drives? I figure I can just copy the same Boot Mgr using the instructions given, but wasn't sure if it'd matter if they were separate drives.
9:57 I don't see any entries of other operating systems here. Is it because I chose a different disk for creating unallocated space instead of the one which has my Windows OS on it?
I'd like to ask. How do I adjust the fan? I'm using POP OS and Zorin OS but it's the same fan won't adjust. I am confused how to solve this problem. The laptop I use is Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-56). Thank You.
Hey, the video was great, and everything went smoothly. But there's one issue-when booting into Windows, it keeps asking for the BitLocker recovery key. I panicked at first but eventually found the key in my Microsoft account. However, this keeps happening, and I'm worried Windows might act up and corrupt my data. Do you know of any solutions?

I have done all the instructions as shown in the video. But I still boot Windows at the start, as before, and there is no choice of OS. I also have three Windows Boot Managers in the Boot Menu, maybe that's the problem. Please tell me how it can be fixed?
it works with the separate drives also. Note: If you are installing on separate drive the last part like deleting popos from dual boot is very simple. Just format the entire drive where pop os is installed.
I followed this tutorial and have been using without any issues for the last few months. But today suddenly my laptop froze while using it normally. So I shut it down. But after that it was not booting at all. After a couple more tries, it booted but showed some issues with boot manager. Not sure what it was. Then I restarted again and jumped straight into windows. What's the issue? I did install the boot manager showed here. Was it something with that?
When I tried to delete the boot file it shows me a virtual disk error as follows: Virtual Disk Service error: Delete is not allowed on the current boot, system, pagefile, crashdump or hibernation volume. Really appreciate if you could give me a workaround for this
@@randombutpro7547 i found it. The answer was right there. It says "current boot system" all i had to do was boot with the original windows boot loader.
On my Lenovo laptop, one problem I was facing was not being able to set the partitions on the installer using Gparted. Initially I thought this was an Intel RST problem, and tried to switch it to AHCI multiple times using the safe mode but it would always turn back to RST after a restart. Otherwise POP OS won't run. Do one thing, when you are working with Pop OS disable secure boot and enable when working with windows 11.
