    I am a fan of Mtech fixed blades. Just good knives for the money. The raptors are monsters.

    i keep saying m-tech 440c fixed blades are overlooked by the knife community, glad you demonstrated it!

      440C when done right is a good steel. For having a hollow grind and being this big it is surprising how it held up.

    I've got the Mtech Raptor, which is a beast also. Both are great for the money.

    • @fit4knives882
      @fit4knives882  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep I have both as well. They are surprisingly good blades for what they cost! I have blades that cost 3 times as much and could never do what the Raptor or Outlander do. And I have beaten them to death lol! Thanks for the comment Robert

      The Extreme line from MTech is supposed to be the more high end quality knives they make. So far most blades I've used in this line do pretty darn good. By no means is it an Esee or Bark River but for the money can't complain. Thank you for checkin out the channel and subscribing!

    Excellent review of the knife. I recently discovered your channel and enjoy how you test lower price knives. I was wondering if you could answer a couple of questions about larger knives.
    1. What sharpening system do you recommend and could you please demonstrate
    2. What type of steel is best for application. Such as hunting, tactical, etc.
    Once again thank you and I look forward to future videos.

    • @fit4knives882

      You will see a lot of budget knife reviews on this channel. As far as sharpening I'm still perfecting that skill. For my big blades I sometimes use a Work Sharp Ken Onion Edition. In my opinion if the heat treat is done right any steel will hold up in many situations. But if I had to choose what steel for what task here is what I would recommend. For choppers, survival, and camp style blades I prefer a quality carbon steel with a good heat treat. 1095, 5160,1075, ect.. Tactical, fighting, and hunting knife steels like AUS 8, VG-10, 420 HC, tool steel, ect.. are great if done right .You won't be beating up this style of blade like a chopper. All and all it's what you do with a knife that makes or breaks it. My tests get kind of crazy sometimes but I punish blades so you don't have to. Thanks for the comment and questions. Looking forward to more.

    I have an Outlander Bowie , you're going to need a bulldozer if you want to tear that knife up.
    Carrying a knife that heavy is a pain, but the weight comes in handy when you want to get the work done.
    It's a big chunk of steel ....I usually carry an ink pen sized diamond rod to touch it up as needed so edge retention forever isn't that big of an issue .
    My bottom line is if something got after me out in the woods and I hit them a good lick with that Outlander......they're going to know it.
    I personally believe it would crack a skull like an egg shell, or leave a fearsome wound.
    I like mine, others can carry what they like.

    So I’m a little confused is it 8Cr13MOV or 440C steel?? Great vid btw!!

    • @fit4knives882
      @fit4knives882  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is confusing. On one side of the blade it is labeled 8cr13mov and the other 440c. It is more than likely 440 stainless seeing that is mostly what comes out of china.

    440 C is awesome. But it need to be 440 C not a or b

    • @fit4knives882
