  • I can't believe I'm saying this but I was back at Racing Greed for another fuel comparison! This time I was testing a brand new fuel from Shell. In this video I compare Shell's V-Power Nitro+ 93 & 91, Chevron 94 with 10% ethanol added to it, Chevron 94 and Chevron 91. I performed a minimum of 3 dyno pulls on each fuel to determine not only the horsepower & torque, but also to see the amount of ignition correction and peak timing advance. Hopefully this video helps all of those performance enthusiasts in the Lower Mainland, BC, Canada get more out of their cars.
    All hardware installations are performed by Reiter Performance. For more information on their services please reach them at info@reiterperformance.com or check out www.reiterperformance.com for more details

    I forgot to mention how these fuel samples were collected. I pumped out 10L of fuel into my vehicle prior to filling up the 20L jerry can. This prevented any contamination from the fuel that was being pumped out of the tanks by the previous customer. It ensured that whatever fuel I chose to select was the only fuel making its way into the jerry can. Please also keep in mind that these tests only pertain to the fuels we have here local to me in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

    Man I love it when you do these fuel comparisons they are always a blast although I’m super disappointed we didn’t have Petro ultra 94 in this one as it is pretty much just about the only premium fuel available in Alberta these days and if memory serves I think it took second place on your last comparison so I was a little surprised to see it is missing.
    And I’ll never forget the original why the video was done to squash the stupid mess that I also investigated myself many years ago between shell 91 husky 94 and petro ultra 94. I had fools constantly telling me shell 91 was better back then but all of my testing proved otherwise. I had way more detonation and timing correction with shell 91 it wasn’t even close the other two were fairly close in the comparison. And husky 94 outperformed ultra by a smidge which is why I have been using it all of these years until last year when Husky 94 was discontinued and I switched to Petro ultra 94. I really hope this new shell 93 fuel shows up in Alberta.

      Thank you for watching. I'm sorry to disappoint, but as I've mentioned countless times before these fuel tests and comparison have nothing to do with Alberta fuel. They will not test the same as what we see here in the Lower Mainland. These tests are specific to our local fuels.

And Petro-Can (Ultra94) the MON was 101.5 and 88 MON, witch is also over 94 Octane. I’ve been using Sunoco Ultra 94 here in New Jersey in my C6 ZR1 and 500 Abarth. 10% ethanol. The ZR1 is consistently showing another degree or two of timing at WOT. The owners manual just says use 93 or higher. I was previously using Mobil 93, as I never saw any benefit with Shell except it being extremely expensive. The maps suggest it can take advantage of higher octane fuel. Some guy in Florida dumped Sunoco 260 GT in his stock ZR1 and knocked 0.8 seconds off a 60-130 in super hot and humid weather. The 500 Abarth is also allowing 1 extra degree of timing only in specific situations and it handled hot weather this past summer much better. Just my findings! Both cars aren’t tuned.

    Perfectly normal to see less timing pulled mid range if you had timing being pulled at lower rpm, less timing so less heat in cylinders so when pcm puts back timing after over correction, mid range will be cleaner compared to no timing being pulled early on as you would see more heat. Ie. If you have timing being pulled at 5000rpm, reduce timing at all rpm ranges leading up to 5k and leave 5k+ the same, then see what happens. Most likely you will tolerate more timing at 5k+

      @@FattyMaxxx you're very welcome. Pure ethanol by itself is 105 octane. Too much of it can gunk up fuel systems if left sitting for too long. @@oswaldgobblepot thanks for watching but this video wouldn't be useful to you anyways because our fuel is not the same as yours.

    My car is tuned to chevron 94 but everyone said 93 is better so I made the switch should I go and get my car retuned?

    • @VancityAudi

      Did you get a custom tune made for your car locally here in the Lower Mainland?

      @@VancityAudi yes had it dyno tuned on 94

      @@gtadude24245 then I'd immediately make the switch to Shell 93 and have it custom tuned for that fuel now.

    imagine if the Chevron 91 is old stuff due to covid supply chains that had all of its alcohol evaporate 🤔

    • @VancityAudi
      @VancityAudi  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It wasn't old. Ethanol was harder to come by during the floods we had. My guess is that's why it had none in it. Shell's 93 always has 10% ethanol in it and it didn't during these videos because the ethanol shortage during the floods. This was confirmed by Shell when I met them.

      @30YearOldBunta ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VancityAudi yeah the aromatic packages change depending on winter/summer blend. This will be mostly hydrocarbons such as xylene and benzene.
