    I actually love this car more than the Ioniq 5 which I know is an unpopular opinion. I love the look of it, the way it drives, and the extra range on the highway due to the lower drag coefficient which is more important for highway driving than city driving.
    That said, it takes the biggest hit in terms of practicality compared to the Ioniq 5. Your rear passengers will be more comfortable in the Ioniq 5 in terms of head room and being able to put the seats back at different angles. You'll also be able to fit a lot more in the back of an Ioniq 5 compared to the trunk of the Ioniq 6, although the trunk is more spacious than ICE sedans.
    Personally, if you don't have tall rear passengers often and can fit all of your travel stuff in the trunk, I would go for the Ioniq 6 SE with the bigger battery as it comes with the smaller wheels for more range, has a few more things in the standard edition that are not in the Ioniq 5, and is the cheapest of them all excluding the Standard Range options which I wouldn't recommend.
    However, if you need more room for your rear passengers, need more room for travel, and don't care as much about the range, and have more room in the budget, I would try to get the Ioniq 5 Limited as the see through roof is amazing and the tech features are all really cool.
    Hope this helps and obviously choose the car that works the best for your needs. EVs aren't great for everyone, but they are for certain people, but do your research before jumping in.

    Hey what’s up! I have 2024 Ioniq 6 AWD limited in white and I gotta say I absolutely love it. Quality for sure! I give it 8.5/10. Only bc The trunk is too small and the sound quality out of those Bose speakers…oh I dislike it so much. Have to have volume at like 40+ on average.
    With that said though. It’s fast, sleek, everyone talks about it when I’m in public. The range…I’ve had zero issues. Charges in 20 mins and I’m good to go. The big game changer was getting the ChargePoint installed at home. 5 hrs over night and done. What was a $2000 project was only $625 for me bc of Hyundai’s discounts.
    I love this car, forever electric now.

    The sacrifice in range for the 20 in wheels is crazy to me. All that emphasis on aerodynamics then you add wheels that reduce efficiency. I’d consider this if the back opened as a hatch. Great review. Thanks.

    17:59 - I test drove a Limited 6 with the sunroof. My only gripe was the top of my head was juuuuuussssst scraping the ceiling. I forgot to bear in mind that with a sunroof you sacrifice some headroom. Not a big deal for drivers under 6 ft, but... being 6-4 it was definitely noticeable. Not to mention the sunroof is not that great, in that you have to look back {just like what you're doing there} to enjoy any semblance of sun.
    That said I went with the RWD SEL with much better headroom and I love it. 👍

    I have had an SEL for 6 months. The only thing I wish this had was a heated steering wheel. Pretty criminal it was omitted for this trim level.

      I agree completely- our Ioniq 5 SEL had the heated steering wheel- this SEL certainly should have it also. And the 20" wheels are just a terrible decision- robs 40 miles of range for what? A rougher ride because of less rubber. I like this car better than the Ioniq5 that we had for two years. If I need to haul anything I use my F150 Lightning.

    I personally love the styling of the Ioniq 6 and seriously considered it when I was shopping but the deal breaker for me was exactly what you mention in this video and that is how low it sits to the ground compared to the Ioniq 5. I'm tall so it was very difficult for me to get in and out. That made the Ioniq 5 a no brainer and 5K miles later, still loving it! Thanks for the video!!

  • @jakebreathes2387
    @jakebreathes2387 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

    I've had the Ioniq 6 for about 6 months and really enjoy it. I had a Honda CR-V before, which I also enjoyed, but I wanted to go back to a sedan. My main criticisms are (1) the useless water bottle spaces on the doors, (1a) only have 2 cup holders in the back, which also means if you do have 3 people in the back you have ZERO cup holders, (2) the trunk is too small (as a golfer you're correct that two bags is really the limit), and (3) the fact you can't order 18" wheels on the better trim packages. I ended up getting the base level SE package be cause the range is so much more that the other trim levels. It is my understanding the main reason for that is 18" vs 20" wheels. For electric cars range is still a huge issue, especially in winter and especially when you consider the inevitable battery degradation over time. I'd rather have an extra 40 miles in range than leather seats.
    All that said I would lease this again and I'd recommend anyone who wants a sedan take a good look at the Ioniq 6. A lot more positive than negative in my mind.

      @@ritorevolto8309 You're correct. Despite all my research ahead of time it wasn't clear to me when I decided that it was really all about the tires. Had I understood that I would have done exactly what you said. Still, why doesn't Hyundai offer this as an option? Why don't they have a clear explanation about how impactful tire size is on mileage? Just weird

      After having 20” inch tires on my BMW i3 the lower tprofile tires are great for handling and looks but the 3 tires I had to replace because the low side wall on the 20” rims were prone to pothole pinch flats, and a nail & screw magnet!🙄 so my second one I opted for the 19” rims and not as harsh a ride!

    Hi Corbin, great review. I've got a top trim Ioniq6 as a loaner car whilst my Ioniq5 is getting serviced here in Australia. I prefer my Ioniq5 for the style as well. The Ioniq6 top trim here does have a HUD as well as digital side mirrors.

    Corbin, nice review, but I do have a comment regarding your complaint as to the lack of a hanging hook on the passenger side. I can’t guarantee this is true for all cars, but every car I’ve owned does not have a hook on the passenger side. This is intentional and for safety reasons. Hanging something over the rear passenger window would create a blind spot over the driver’s right shoulder. There’s no such concern with driver side rear window since a driver can’t really look out that window.

    Hi Corbin nice fare review, I have a 24 I6 AWD. My previous car was a Audi A5 (Very Good AWD System in winter). It's my first winter with the car & I was shocked how well it handles in winter with the stock tires & SNOW Mode. There were cars stuck on a hill in a snow storm & I stopped to help them and then drove up the hill without any issue. I also like the fact when I heat the cabin in the morning to head to work it also heats the battery up helping with efficiency. I'm in my 60's, Kid's have their own life so a car for the wife & I made sense & she loves driving it as well, not just for young professional's 😀. Here in Canada, our highest trim actually has the HUD. Not sure why it's not available in the US. I switched from my 2022 Ioniq 5 AWD (basic trim) and have been on the waiting list for almost 23 months now, for the top trim Ioniq 5. You guys in the US are quite lucky; you've got tons sitting in dealership lots.
    I don't regret my move at all. I was able to get my hands on the Ultimate Metallic Red, which is amazing. I sacrificed cargo space in order to get the top trim options, but this car should serve me well, should I keep it for some time. We shall see.

    For the issues with the road dirt that gets into the doors, I solve for it by washing my I5 in a "wand wash" where you're basically washing by hand with a pressure washer kind of set up. I open up the doors and spray along those areas to wash out all the nastiness from there and then rinse it out.

    My Wife got this car 2024 SEL AWD in the same exact color two months ago, She's short so that's not a problem, I was just shocked that a $50,000 doesn't have folded mirrors and power passenger seat, my old Camry for half a price has it. She loves driving it.
    The only problem that I have is range anxiety(we haven't gone on a long trip yet) and I have to say that Electrify America is pretty bad, there is always a line of cars that want to charge and some of the chargers are always broken. I don't know how you can trust them going on a long trip if you get there and other cars are waiting (and there is no take a number or knowing ahead how many people are waiting there) but the experience of driving around town is fun.

I am a bit nervous about making long trips because after having the tesla the supercharger network is excellent...in out no hassles. the others not so much. I know that Ford and GM evs are going to be able to do superchargers quite soon and the factories are providing the adapters free, as is Hyundai but they are saying early 2025 before we can use the Superchargers. Started with not being able to charge above 80% then suddenly it would, but my ranged had permanently gone down around 26-30miles. OBD2 showed 1 battery deteriorated, hopefully the technicians don't try and pretend nothing is wrong with my battery. (I was already 15 days away due to another issue.)

    I think there is a lot about regenerative braking, one pedal driving and efficiency that is hidden. I have a kia Niro EV that is four years old. I normally use the paddle to stop the car, but recently after watching a TH-cam video, I turned off all of the regen settings. The car coasted like a ICE car, and when I pushed on the brake pedal, all of the high speed braking was done by the regenerative braking system until the car slowed to about 10 MPH when the friction brakes took over. The amount going back into the battery was the same, judging by the dash display.

    @ 9:04, you showed data about range and efficiency; I assume you drive about 65% of the time over the limit on the highway, with less than 35% on city streets; because you averaged 3.4 mi/kWh. Am I wrong?
    I think this car could easily get 4.3 mi/kWh on city streets even if driven hard enough to chirp tires.
    My point is that even an ultra-efficient car uses tons of power at high speed (and power consumption grows quickly above ~61mi/h). So realistically, you're showing what the low end of range looks like here. Your range averaged 261 mi/full charge (@3.4mi/kWh) vs 331mi/full charge if driven in the city alone (@4.3 mi/kWh).

    • @polysmart
      @polysmart 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are correct the mileage varies significantly between highway and city (and so do hybrids like Prius for this matter). Depends also significantly on temperature. With favorable conditions about 4 mi/kwh highway is not unreasonable for lively highway driving, while 5 and even 6mi/kwh are attainable with city cruises. He is also displaying the Limited trim which has the 20 inch wheels. The SE RWD trim with the 18 inch wheels is by far the most efficient.

      @@TheIoniqGuy The rationale appears to be based on how the rear windows are used in an SUV as opposed to a sedan: in a big SUV/truck (e.g. Lincoln Navigator or Cadillac Escalade), the rear windows are so far away from the driver that they are pretty much useless for safe driving, so it's OK to tint them for passenger privacy and/or comfort. Crossover SUVs (e.g. Ioniq 5) inherited the SUV regulation despite being much smaller than those big SUVs.
