Thankyou for a good video. One tip I like to share with others, besides goal- setting, is to visit the library if you feel like shopping. You get to bring something home for free, and it doesn't stay.
Great tip! Thanks for sharing. I never buy books either, I always borrow books from the library 📚 And it’s better for the planet to borrow instead of buying and owning for a single use 🔄
Growing up my parents didn't had a lot of money to buy me the nice clothes, so when I was older and earned my own money I became a hoarder because I could finally afford all the nice things. Later I got really bad depressions and saw my only chance to quit my job and sell everything I own and start traveling. This changed everything for me. Living out of a carry on for years opend my eyes. So I'm really conscious now of what I'm buying BUT when grocery shopping I go nuts, that is my guilty pleasure now - trying all the new foods. But at the moment I try to not buy any food and just use what I have at home.
Hi! I’m really happy for you that you fought your depression. 💪 Travelling is amazing for that. I’m also going to travel full time with just my backpack and I already how it is going to change my life and perception regarding consumerism. You guilty pleasure is still very acceptable, treat yourself the way you like it! Most important thing about it is finding balance 😄❤️
I was just the same. After years of having very little, I went mad and collected anything and everything I thought I wanted. Now, I have only what I need. But food is life, so I think there's nothing wrong with going mad with the groceries 😊
As for me, it is a constant mind battle to NOT online shop. Best advice i can give is: Where can I put this 50$ money instead of on this fast fashion dress. What if one of my dogs (I have 2) needs care, would I be happier to have more money to provide them health? Would I also be happier to take this 50$ to take my dad to a dinner date? I think its finding the purpose of where I want to put the money, and how the expenses are reflecting the person you are
I agree SO much with you, I wanted to talk about this but filming with no script well your forgot to say some things 🤣 I also have saved money for taking my dad to Miami for his birthday (it was his dream destination) and saving for that trip to make him happy was worth anything. ❤️
What a great video! I enjoy hearing about your minimalist journey. I began mine about 6 months ago and yesterday I was in our city center and had no interest in the Shop windows, I didn't buy anything and it was such a freeing feeling! Don't apologize for your English, you speak it beautifully and truly get your message across. English isn't the native language where I live but it's mine and I do the same thing when I speak German, I think its just a natural thing to do.😊
Loved this video! It's always fun to hear how others became minimalists. About 7 years ago, I helped friends clean up and take inventory of their possessions after their chimney caught on fire and their home was badly damaged. It was heartbreaking watching them have to make decisions on whether to throw an item away or inventory it. Old family photos, special items to their children, handmade baby blankets, and baby outfits from when their children were younger...Most of everything had to be thrown away. It really made me take a look at my own possessions and put myself in their shoes. Luckily, they were all safe and that's what really matters. Thank you for this chat today :)
Thanks for sharing. Accidents can always happen and that’s why in my opinion we need to be able to detach ourselves from material things. It’s « just » things. The most precious thing is our health and the people we care about. Since I became a minimalist, I thought a few days ago that if for example my house was burning with all my belongings, as long as my loved ones are safe, stuff really doesn’t matter. ❤️
Dear Louise, thank you so much for turning my video request into an actual video in such a high speed! You’re wonderful. To me the video and your story is very inspiring. ❤ And after being a minimalist in many areas of my life (except for my crafty hobbies) for more than 10 years now, I feel so inspired to take my journey further. I’m starting a no buy year in the beginning of September and your tips and experiences come right in time for me. I’m so grateful and I will safe this video for future reference. ❤😊 Thanks again and wishing you a wonderful weekend.
Hi, Louise! This is my first comment ever here, but I have watched all of your videos and I think I can say that you forgot to include reading in the list of the things that you love :) I am a big reader myself and truly, when I am in front of a good book the last thing on my mind is shopping. I also love walking, particularly in my city's parks, where I can see birds, dogs, and sometimes ducks, as well as people of all ages enjoying themselves (children playing with a ball, elderly people sitting on the benches and talking to each other, younger people exercising, sometimes someone playing their guitar, etc.) without spending any money. Thank you for another lovely video! Maria from Barcelona
When I was a kid I used to pretend I was going on an adventure with my backpack during my walk to school 🏫 now I’m into hiking and love the idea of living out of a bag 💚
I only came across your vlog recently but i am already a convert. You radiate such good energy and you are wise beyond your years! Your English is amazing and I genuinely look forward to a new vlog. Thank you for all the work you put into the vlogs. it is really appreciated!
Loved this video. It will be nice to show my daughter who is 11 years old. She as at the age where girls start to pay more attention to fashion and trends that are always fleeting and superficial. I hope she can really focus on the experiences and relationships in her life, and not stuff!
I would love if you will make a video if you want, I am courious about you spiritual practices. Your spirit is so clean, so joyfull, You would make a great buddhist practitioner, being vegan, a minimalist, so you re not glued to (useless) material posessions, volunteering like crazy, taking care of a cute doggo, LOVING PEOPLE wich I do not experience on a daily basis, you are such a beautiful human being just for fun!!! and the fact that you spoil us with great info everytime, wanting to change the world by changing youself first and now we are following your steps, teaching people, putting yourself out there, Bravo! Bravo Louise, and take good care of you!
I'm a big girl and always thought I cannot buy second hand clothes for myself until about 2 years ago when I made the effort to buy all my light jackets second hand. Then all my jumpers for winter, then all my summer dresses the following year then I kept using the jumpers from last year, bought second hand coats for winter. Now I'm on a weight loss journey and will be able to pass on these clothing items to others and I can't wait to find new to me second hand items when I need them❤️
This is my favourite video of yours, thank you. I have been doing a no buy year and fortunately 8 months in, I have been successful and stuck to it. I have been on a slow journey towards minimalism but your vides have really inspired me to go further! Thank you for sharing your lessons ❤
Hi Fiona, thank you very much. Wow I have never done a no buy year and I admire people who can do it. Congrats 🙌🙆🏼♀️ I’m really happy if I help in any way ✨🍃💜
I agree Louise, shopping costs time and money. You can’t buy time back. There is no way to replace it. People in your life deserve your time and shopping cheats them of that time
I love your videos. You have encouraged me to change my mindset and outlook on life. Would you be willing to make a video sharing some of your favorite books that have shaped your view on minimalism and the world in general?
Don't apologize for making mistakes. A lot of us are not nativ speakers either. I also hate that everytime i leave the house or enter an app they are trying to sell me something. I still struggle with thrifting. I never buy new so i justify buying something beacuse its cheaper, good quality and sustenable. Trying to do better and remember its still buying. Still, i use the 1 in one 1 method that helps me keep my possesions the same number. Also i stopped putting preasure on me to get rid of things if im not ready. Everyones journey is different but i love the feeling of owning less😊
Love this video! I'd really like to watch a video about gifts - gifts from other people to you, the conversation that you had around it if any with people that are close to you, what you typically would ask for if someone wanted to gift you something for a special occasion and how you gift to others as well.
I love your video very much and coming home after a longer trip on which I used so so few items and clothes I very much relate to your sentence that EVERYTHING was too much in the house! Since then I am struggeling to reduce, to sell, to give away and to refuse presents and items from my parents and friends 😅. Man it's really hard work to get there, but I know it's worth it. So please, keep going doing videos an extrem minimalism. It helps so much to stay focused on my decluttering journey. Take care😊
You can do it! Baby steps is key, don’t declutter things if you are not sure! Put them in a box for a month for example and if you forgot about the things in it, you can give them away… 🤗 take pictures of it if you want! 😊 And thank you for your comment 🧡
@@minimalou_ytThank you very much for answering. Your ideas have been a pleasure to read and I try to follow along. While decluttering I stumbled across Seve's TH-cam channel and watched ,,7 steps of a frugal life" which helped by categorizing different categories of minimalism. Hello Louise, je viens de découvrir ta chaîne et bravo ! C’est très inspirant et j’adhère à ton chemin. C’est super que tu partages tes idées et ton ressenti. Merci beaucoup 🙏
A couple of years ago our basement flooded and I was sooo embarrassed when the workers came to drain our basement because they had to move all of the stuff around that was in there. Then my husband and I had to go through all of the stuff and document what had to be thrown out in order to claim through insurance and wash everything/clean everything that was in good enough condition to keep. It was so time consuming and I hardly cared about any of the items down there - I really just wanted to throw most of it out. I said 'never again' to consuming so much stuff and my husband was on the same page. I'm now on a journey of decluttering (selling or donating items) in the main floor of our house being very intentional about purchases.
You inspire me so much Louise! 🥰 What advice would you give to someone who wants to start this journey of being minimalism, but turns to shopping as a way to cope with stress? Where to start/begin? Maybe should try a no spend month? Budgeting?
Hi!! ❤️ If you do online shopping, delete all the apps for that, and then to cope with the stress, start therapy or yoga classes 🧘🏼♀️🕊️🤍 Go in nature as much as you can, do things that you loved as a kid, find new hobbies. You can do it 💕
I recently discovered your channel and I loooove your content❤❤ I don’t know your background but I was pretty sure you were a model 😊. I’m binge watching all of your videos right now. Thanks for all the tips❤
Whenever I want something I make a list of all the things I already have by each category. And remind myself that feeling to ‘shop’ is just a moment on time. If I can go for a walk, call a friends, pray, find something else to do during that time the feeling will usually pass. I have four children and do not want to pass Anything down to them other than money I have invested for them and memories of our time together❤
Just came across your channel and I love your style and videos! You are stunning, such a nice voice, I think you will be a successful TH-camr once you show up in more algorithms! I loved your meal ideas, I eat a lot of vegetables and rice for meals so I appreciate seeing different recipes. ❤
Wowy that's so aspiring of you to have your own business at 18! That's amazing. And I like all of the tips, I think they work really well. Regarding the resource saving: With this ongoing heat right now at least in Europe, I think often, 'that's mainly because we overconsume, because big companies produce masses of minor-quality clothes, and because of cars, that produce a lot of heat as well'. Cutting down on these two "consumption goods" is probably a good way to make our climate more endurable again. Just a side note I wanted to put here ^^
My goal isn’t to be a minimalist, however I have always hated clutter. I did go through my clothes a few months ago and donated a lot. I’ve tried to do a no buy year. Only buying what I need to replace, used up items. I did buy one top to replace one that was very worn out I got rid of. I did buy one from Facebook marketplace that I just really liked. I guess that’s my one slip up bc I didn’t need it and it didn’t replace an item I was getting rid of. Now I just plan on wearing the items I have until they are too worn. I have very little when it comes to makeup/skin care. I just order something when it’s run out. I have a few extra lotions so I’m telling myself I have to use them up before I order new. Thanks for another great video! Loving the new channel name. 😊❤
Hey Louise, i really enjoy watching your videos. Ive been binge watching them haha. Do you have any advice on how to deal with family at Christmas with the gifts? I keep telling i dont need anything and end up with all stuff i dont really want. I love Christmas because i spend the day with my family playing games and eating nice food. Thats just what it means to me. But when i talk to them about it they dont understand and it feels like i hurt their feelings. Also my mum is very addicted to shopping and she sees it as a hobby. I helped with her closet the other day and we sold the clothes online. I was so proud, but then she replaced all with new within a week or so😅. Just a little rant haha.
Hi 👋 I will do a video about gifts, I wanted to release it around November (for Christmas time) haha but maybe I should post before… For gifts, I ask my family experiences instead of material gifts, I started to do this last Christmas 😄 I feel you! My mother in law she is the same 🥲🤣 be patient, I keep repeating that she doesn’t need all that stuff, that maybe she could use her money in more meaningful ways like travelling, investing, finding new hobbies etc. And she is going to volunteer with me next week for the first time in her life, and she stopped buying plastic water bottles too… little improvement after a year of knowing her… steps by steps.. ☺️
I just want to pay of student debt so I am free. Having debt is not good for my mental health. I still buy second hand items but only once in a while and not anything expensive 😊 I think “retail therapy” have been escapism for me. I love clothes and beautiful items but I want financial freedom 😊 Love your channel ❤
I love your videos so much, you are such an inspiration to me. I wanted to ask at what age did you become a minimalist and how long have you stuck to it?
I am almost twice as old as you but just started thinking about this whole consumism thing recently. How exciting you are going on a trip for one year! Are you taking your sweet dog with you?
Great for you! There is no age for that 😊 Yes we are very excited for our travels. My dog she is staying with my family due to our extreme travelling conditions (hitchhiking the whole globe) 😊
The most happiness was love in my life, but I'm not lucky in lovelife. im actually after another breakup, shopping was only time when mum spend time with me in the past, so as a adult it became my self care. Actually it is not a serious problem like before, but still I leave with lonelliness and no idea how to deal with it...
Hi Katarina 🩷 I would say try new hobbies, maybe do some volunteering work (you always meet great people there), or go see your friends or family, spend time in nature, try to do something that you live doing alone (not shopping haha). I will think about doing a video about this topic ✨🫶🏼

I have very little when it comes to makeup/skin care. I just order something when it’s run out. I have a few extra lotions so I’m telling myself I have to use them up before I order new.
Thanks for another great video! Loving the new channel name. 😊❤
I love the way you live! We have much in common! 🫶🏼Thank you so much. ❤️
thanks for the meaningful content. i’m impressed with your english you’re teaching yourself! i’ve always wanted to learn french ❤
Thank you for your kindness. To familiarise yourself with french, I would say start watching french movies with English subtitles! Helps a lot ☺️❤️
OBSESSED with the new name!
Thank you ❤️
Very good video, Louise. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching it. ❤️
Afternoon from Hawaii nice tip on how to stop stopping on shopping on this video
Thanks for watching! 🍃☀️
Hi 👋 I will do a video about gifts, I wanted to release it around November (for Christmas time) haha but maybe I should post before…
For gifts, I ask my family experiences instead of material gifts, I started to do this last Christmas 😄
I feel you! ☺️
Congratulations ❤❤❤❤
Thank you Kathy 🩷
I just want to pay of student debt so I am free. Having debt is not good for my mental health. I still buy second hand items but only once in a while and not anything expensive 😊
I think “retail therapy” have been escapism for me. I love clothes and beautiful items but I want financial freedom 😊
Love your channel ❤
Thank you 🙏🧡🧡
I love your videos so much, you are such an inspiration to me. I wanted to ask at what age did you become a minimalist and how long have you stuck to it?
Hi! I discovered minimalism at 23, and I have been on this journey since 2 years 😊
And thank you 🥹💕
I am almost twice as old as you but just started thinking about this whole consumism thing recently.
How exciting you are going on a trip for one year! Are you taking your sweet dog with you?
Great for you! There is no age for that 😊
Yes we are very excited for our travels. My dog she is staying with my family due to our extreme travelling conditions (hitchhiking the whole globe) 😊
Hello!) I’m happy to see your new video) I wanted to know, how old are you?)
Hello ! I’m 25 !
@@minimalou_yt thank u for the answer) I'm 28)
Hi ! At 16:12, I think the word you were searching for is "meaningless".
PS: You're super inspiring , thanks :)
Hi! Yes! Thank you! 😄😄❤️
Hello !

Now also my mind is changed I am not interested buy things
😄❤️
