Sadly, i bought 3 MVMT's before i got wise ...... they just seemed like decent looking watches when everyone else was getting Fitbit's and Apple watches. To their credit, they got me into higher end watches (for similar prices!!!), so they were essentially the "gateway drug". But yeah, kinda embarrassed really, that i didn't get wise to their tactics sooner and to even have them in the collection!!
Seems like the rumors that they're just rebranding AliExpress watches are based on Chinese copyright theft of their watches. Literally had a hard time eating while watching this

Ceramic dial, sapphire crystal, mecha-quartz all for ~$50, and if you go up to $70 you can get Seiko auto movements. Yes, their designs aren't original, certainly homage watches but you can't deny the legit quality of these watches. Thousands of watches are on aliexpress and yet Pagani, Cadisen, Starking, San Martin are the ones that are bought up. These brands are actually decent quality that can't be matched bang fir buck factor. What does he say at 16:35

Yeah, you need to pick Aliexpress standard or epacket shipping, which will take a week or two. If you pick the other cheap shipping options it'll take months. Pagani design, Cadisen, Starking, Bodberry, San Martin, some Guanqins, and some others are good.
For what it’s worth, I had a somewhat similar experience with a watch...the crystal seemed filthy, I tried cleaning it and nothing seemed to help. Finally I realized that there was a piece of protective film that perfectly covered the crystal. Once I removed that, the crystal was fine. It’s a little embarrassing to admit, but I was certain that’s what was happening with your watch when I started watching your video. (In my defense, the protective film WAS very expertly placed. 😁). Better luck next time. Keep up the great work, really enjoy your videos.
My honest view on your better quality recommendations for the same price: while you're right, the options you suggest are very different in styling, which is the criteria for the target market of these. So: if you're into the $99 MVMT, check the Orient Bambino V3, absolute best and most respected clean-dial, Bauhaus-esque watch for the money. If, well... Your options are limited to a $5-10 budget, check your local sales website and pick a secondhand Swatch watch. They devalue a lot while still working perfectly fine and still feature quality Swiss-made movements, you'll most certainly find one you like from the tons of options selling in the used market at any given time.
It’s funny how expensive mvmt watches are compared to the quality like I just started my watch collecting journey and got a timex expedition scout 2 or something like that and I’m so happy with It and it only cost 45 dollars
That watch has Coronavirus under the crystal. I have 2 of these I got off of Wish.com like 4 years ago. They are all black dial so they don't say MVMT. I got rid of the cheap straps that barely fit through the buckle. I put them on a black and red 24mm NATO strap. Gave one to my friend. Funny thing is they were identical except the movements inside were different. One is noticeably louder when it ticks. Cheap minimalist style, mine had no water damage, and I have taken them apart, thoroughly cleaned the inside of the case and the crystal, put in fresh batteries, and changed the straps. Definitely not water resistant as mine are the same style case back and I can just easily pop them together. The one you got looks like the container sunk in the Ocean but I'm surprised it even ran. Mine doesn't have the touchy crown stop and fail either but when I set the time and push it back in, sometimes the hands jump a little. Not a precise piece of machinery haha.
I have a "mingdu" cartier Santos look alike which I bought in Malta in 2011 for 7 euros,its horrifically cheap looking but remarkably still runs accurately.
I'm curious about your opinion on the case against La Californienne, a company that was buying old Rolexes and blinging them out. The case was won on the basis of Trademark protection. But the designs were unique, interesting and sold well. If I buy something, surely it is my right to do whatever I wish with it? I'd like to see an episode with your thoughts. Thanks
My guess is whatever factory in Asia makes MVMT (and unbranded) watches is very humid bc I've seen a few videos where MVMT watches have moisture on the box

Gather and soak remains in strong disinfectant and dispose of properly. However, as someone has already mentioned, it was hitting the marks. I hope that stuff was just water damage. Sleep well. Should of bought one from MVMT,mine only gained seconds in a year. I set it with my phone when I bought it and it's great,MVMT Voyager model. You bought a MVMT Clone for $4 what did you expect,what's wise than a MVMT,a MVMT Clone. You got really bad luck. I must confess I made the mistake of buying an MVMT watch on Wish. And the mistake was that I spent money on "that brand", which unfortunately I realized some time afterwards. At that moment I didn't know anything so I kind of excuse myself that way haha. Later I just got ashamed of wearing it so it's just sitting somewhere at home. I paid about 20 dollars, but when I got it I was really happy because it did look like the real thing. Clean, nor weird marks or dirt inside the glass. The strap, strap buckle and crown were all marked with the MVMT logo. The case back had all the labeling including logo, stainless steel thing, and all that. It worked perfectly, I don't remember if the seconds hand hit the marks because I AM NOT OBSESSED with that like some people, if you know what I mean haha :P Anyway, the only difference was the date window because it was white with black numbers, which I'm pretty sure MVMT had it that way at the beginning before switching the order which makes it look better. To cut a long story short (if that's possible cause I realized I've written a lot already), with sites like Wish and AliExpress it's always a gamble, you're never sure what you're actually gonna get. Sometimes you get a crappy knock off like you got, where a lot of things are different (hands a big issue here), sometimes you get a better knock off like I did were everything really looked like the real deal. Although of course, I paid more. In hindsight I of course regret I spent even 20 dollars on it and not on a Casio F91W, for example. But hey, we all make those stupid mistakes when starting in this hobby, right? Saw the add, liked the design, bought it. Watch-ignorant people like me at that time (2016) are MVMT's target market after all, isn't it? :P
What can be expected for a $4 watch shipped intentionally? I think someone just took the watch from the dumpster and mailed it, or it's some defect watch that was taken out of the $20 watch production line.
