Scanning in very common place now but scanning from a turntable on a screen isn’t so well known.
In this video I decided to scan a turntable of a Trex head form a well known museum and using polyscan on the iPhone to convert that back into a digital 3D file to be used in Nomad Sculpt. The result really surprised me.

I still remember the first time I used Meshroom. When it finally finished, the point cloud was upside down and it just looked like a mess of dots. I spun it around and then just stared at it in total awe.
You are quite the artist Mr. Southern!!!

Newer nomad toolsets for baking are absolutely fantastic, I recommend duplicating, doing a remesh and then baking, nomad will pick up the texture and transform it to vertex colors
(you can also go back the other way by UV mapping the remeshed version)
I've been doing some really crazy magic with the baking tools (like baking into a layer to create fake vector displacement maps)

Looks like it's been upgraded from when I tried it last year. Though I was trying to do a basic 1/6 scale body to help doing head sculpts to the correct proportion but the scan ended up being a clump of pixels unrecognisable as a body 😅 the only thing I could think of is maybe that it was a nude body so maybe it's a censoring feature. Might have to try it out again

Thanks for this! Is there a fuller tutorial on how to clean up the image in nomad sculpt? and closing the gaps or merging by distance like in Blender? Im using Polycam also but my images are coming in pretty ropey even though they look like decent scans Polycam.

This is kind of the equivalent of recoding a song from a radio station.
I'd love it, if you could give a bit more clearification about the whole legality aspect of it.
Scanning the object yourself, in person, is different, than just scanning someones elses scan.

I'm pretty sure it's fine until you're trying to sell it
No one's gonna stop you from using it as a reference

You have scanned someone else's 3d model from a monitor. Is that right to copy these model from internet, doesnt it have a license?
