    The Roland T-8 was my introduction to the 303. I absolutely love the machine so I got the Behringer TD-3 MO AM. By incorporating multiple baseline machines into my sets, I found myself having more fun and experimenting with leads and melodies. I just ordered the BassBot and I’m so excited after watching your video. The comparisons of the machines only tells me you can’t go wrong with whatever unit you use. Getting a TD-3 for 100 bucks is the best money spent on a synthesizer.

    Pattern write trick...
    I usually take my Volca Beats and i find a tempo; say at 120bpm and then on the 1bar/16 step sequencer I use the closed hat as a tap in marker for a melodic rhythm in my head. Once I know where those notes in that 1bar loop hit at I then put in my timing into my 303. This allows me to know where all my rests are to then figure out where I want any slides or just rests. This really frees up the headache of not being able to play in time.

  • @79Glitch

    You forgot “planet rock” in your history lesson; it came out before “rip it up”. Jazzy Jay said he used the 303 with the TR-808 to produce the rhythm to go alongside the Kraftwerk interpolation/sample.

    The OG 303 could have the Devilfish (distortion) mod. Didn’t need an external pedal.

  • @RaverOperator
    @RaverOperator ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks a lot for creating this demonstration. I've loved old skool music from acid house and onwards but wondered how the sounds were made. Used a few different bits of kit since my music production interest started a few years ago and it's usually based around writing or sequencing rather than the experimental - i got myself a volca bass and realised i could make some acidic sounds on there but it wasn't really hitting the mark on point for the sound manipulation like I've heard over the years and this demo was excellent!
    I like the midi and distortion aspect, and the price tag on the Behringer, but i _think_ i prefer the sound on the TT-303 (Bass Bot)?
    Gonna need to look at this a little more before i settle on the next GAS purchase 😂😂. THANK YOU!

    Nice video. I have the TD-3, TB-03 and TB-3, and the Boutique version (the TB-03) has the original 303 sequencer, plus a modern version of the sequencer, much easier and intuitive to program, so you can choose between original mode or modern sequencer.

      @@el_dani I'm a nerd but I'm a musician and in situations when I want freedom and not to be limited by old hardware, I embrace technology. That's why I use the TD-3 just to have fun, but the TB-03 to make music and work with the sound and possibilities of the machine. I grew up making music during the 90s and I was waiting for a time like today, when we have so many possibilities and different hardware options to choose from.

      @@midichlorian73 You're welcome. Yeah the form is really good if you're using a sequencer. Space is a bit of a premium for me, so it works. If I am honest I do think theres something cool about buttons for 'slide, accent, octave up/down...etc...' which you could argue are part of the 303 experience. But the MB33 looks cool, sounds cool and works really well IMO (works as well as your external sequencer anyway!).

    The TT-303 V1 is the best emulation from a sonic standpoint. Shame they're so fragile (have 3 that need repairing - the VCO gets 'drifty'). They lost a little of the bounce in the V2.
    I have 2 TB-303's, a TB-03, a literal stack of TD-3's, 4 TT-303 mk1's, 2 TT-303 V2's and a Norand Mono. They all have their own unique flavours.
    The Norand Mono is a gloriously bonkers extrapolation of the 303.

Sounds like it could go into the plastikman territory pretty well? I love My TT V1 as well. I should have bought more of them. The other whacked out one I have is a circuit bent MAM MB33 and I use the TD-3 to run it. Highly recommend one of those! I got it to sound like this:

      Thats just a single MAM into effects pedals.

    • @sub-jec-tiv
      @sub-jec-tiv 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      101 filter is totally different from the sound of the 303. There’s not really any 303 emulation that does super long notes with a long envelope super well. However, if you reduce the ENV to zero, you can send modern 303 clones long notes and you’ll hear a long sustained tone. (You could also use the programmer with ‘tie’ and create long notes, it’s just a bit of a pain.)

    Man. I always yawn when people say they have been hitting the clubs , since age 14. This Seems to be a standard line that people say when they want to show how long they have been into the scene and to other peoples music I’m gonna give you a scenario if I see a 14-year-old in my club you will be ejected immediately, because I don’t wanna have my license taken away from me. If I see a 14-year-old in my club, you’ll be ejected immediately because a nightclub is not a place for 14-year-old. This is why you don’t see 14--year-olds in clubs, and this is why people who do you say i was is going to club since I was 13 I’ve been going to club since I was 14 are always stretching the truth. You hear it quite often from people it seems to be a regular thing. It’s almost becoming a little bit like stolen valour. It’s OK, you’ve been into the music for a long time. That’s totally cool. Just don’t need to see the stolen valour bit bro

Apart from the fact it is beyond fragile, it only does one 303 sound justice. The squelch is horrid. It's NOT an analog 303 emulator period. It's typical behringer cheap.
