  • I recently had the car up in the air to diagnose a rattling exhaust on startup - it turned out it was my replacement centre section couplers so I’ve added some proper exhaust paste and tightened them properly - but while I was under the car, specifically while checking the front flex pipes, I noticed a touch of oil down both sides of the engine block and the tiniest amount of oil and dirt build-up flowing backwards on the back half of the block and the bottom of the gearbox. It wasn’t much and I keep an eye on my engine oil level which hadn’t dropped practically at all since doing a change relatively recently, so I’m happy to say I caught it early.

5:03 I used a piece of bailing wire (flexible wire that holds its form when bent like a paperclip but thicker) and wrapped it almost all the way around the tube. I used the pick to push it up and under each of the 4 clip sections and it popped the clip right out. I of course pulled too hard and when it popped off, the tube cracked completely through. Now I am doing the PCV valve replacement job... FML

God… those clips on the crankcase ventilation system are beyond stupid! Almost made me cry, no lie. I’d gladly beat the idiot who came up with that design into submission.

Great job on the video. I watched yours specifically because I have the same style PCV connector and was wondering how they came off.

Yes if just the gaskets. Can you find a good indie shop? I’m hearing more like $850 to just do gaskets but also good to replace PCV while in there since you have supercharger off. Another $300-400 for that. This job is 80% labor.

I have the 4 point ring.
I looked at it and it broke. :( . If I can save the 4 arms I will zip tie it. Then when the Water pump and such need service and the super charger comes off I'll replace them.

The fact that Audi makes so many engine parts out of plastic is a joke. What were they thinking making the valve covers and oil filter housing out of plastic. Plastic does not hold up to heat well over time and will warp and crack also.

If it cracks at the plugs it can drip oil and burn that way
