I am a perfectionist. I want to have everything perfect, even behind things you don't normally see. For instance, I cringed when seeing the way the body (behind the fenders) was cut. I mean did someone just used a jigsaw to cut out those pieces? Did the guy ever cut something before? Yugh. Not only terrible wrap job, also a terrible construction job. I've seen better looking racekits being installed by home amateurs.
Biggest question is did he actually pay for that.... cause that's horrible.

Agreed, it looks like they used the jaws of life to remove whole fender portions for "fitment." I wouldn't be surprised if the installers made the dents next to the anchors for the kit.

Well I assume the dents are cause by the shop who did the wraps trying to remove the flares. Pointing the obvious. The flares are bolted on and double sided taped on the probably could not get them of because of the double sided tape so decided to use screw drivers or something to get in between them.
I wish people name dropped shops so people can keep that in mind when they look into wrapping their cars.

thedog556 well the rust might have more with the hack cutting on the fender to accommodate to wheel and not properly treating and/or sealing the bare metal. Steel will rust very quick if it is a fresh cut and if there is any salt or water on it when it is near metal.

Who pays $5000 for a wrap job? I got quoted $2500 labor and all from a shop that works on all BMW's!
You guys need to start dropping their shop names because this is unacceptable and I'd be pissed if I ended up going to one of these shops.
So how do you think the dents got there? I doubt it was from the guys who wrapped it but more than likely from whoever put the fender flares on.

Not defending the previous shop but most of those dents look like they came from the kit flexing on the car.It could be overtightening but I doubt that was all of it.
I've been wanting to wrap my RX8 for a while now, but im scared to death to have it done because i fell like I'll end up paying $3000 for a job that wont even last until the end of summer.
Come to my shop, you'll get the 5-7 years its supposed to last!!

Yeah 5k is like full paint job. Probably the person who did it last may have thought that it should have been a piece of cake. But alot can happen if your not carefull. As for the dings, my guess is that maybe thats where they meant to drill out the holes for the flares at first.

NOTICE TO DIYers: please don't use a propane torch against your paint!! this dude knows how to keep it moving for quick removal but DIY scenarios should use a heatgun, or hair dryer, takes longer but less likely to cook your paint.

In California you can get a custom paint job same color from 5000 to $8,000 depending on the shop and quality of paint job at maximum price it would have been 12 k anywhere in Southern California

Mistake 1: putting a widebody kit and wing on an frs.
Mistake 2: paying $5000 for wrap in a plain flat color that could more easily be painted on.
That wrap peeling at the end was so satisfying...
Why I want to learn to wrap myself. I don't trust people with the details when it comes to my car.
Customer should have done some research and found a reputable wrap shop, probably could have avoided the headache and saved some money. Why would some one pay 5 grand for a wrap anyways. You can buy enough wrap to do a whole car for about 300$ and do a better job yourself if you've got a steady hand and patience
Material runs about 600-900 depends on color and chrome its self runs about 2400-2600 for just material, not sure what brand you are using. 3m and Avery warranties there colors for about 4-6 years for fading as well.
Samson Montoya I bought the 3m 1080 series wrap in matte black, if I remember correctly it was 14$ per foot out of a 5 foot wide roll. Bought 20 feet to do the hood, roof and tail gate on my truck. Your numbers are correct. If I'd done my whole truck it would have run me about 600 plus the knifeless tape. It was the first time is done any kind of wrap. Took my time, did my research, and managed to do all 3 peices first try with no wrinkles or repairs needed.
+Samson Montoya. Just curious, how do you budget material? Do you estimate the sqr footage of the can and then add for scrap? Or is there a formula for what you need to buy for each type of car? Keep up the vids man, providing transparency about your work and how you take on projects will make you rich one day!

And twice as expensive. The good thing about wrap is if you dont like it anymore. Just rip it off and get a new one. Cant really do that with paint unless you are a millionaire. Also wrap is so much better because it protects your car from things like dust, small stones and so on. Even after 10 years with wrap you can just take it off and the car will look like when you bought it ;)

Some people think they have the skills and talent to do certain types of work - but have no skill or talent in reality...and you end up with crap like this. That's VERY shoddy workmanship to anyone with eyes that function correctly.
It was hard wrapping my antenna fin as well. The guys had a tough time but wrapped in one go .. heated the wrap and pushed in the fin ..

I paid around $1600 dollars for a wrap and it was infinitely better than this and it was on a new model vehicle that most likely no one had ever wrapped before... that guy got screwed. My guy was fantastic...

That’s why you research what you want before you pay, and set expectations for the workers. I usually never pay before something is completed, and if that’s not possible then I don’t buy it, too much risk for people to legally take your money these days...
I've called out other detailing shops that do horrible jobs and charge a lot. And judging by what looks to be rust, stainless steel fasteners should be used.

It protects paint jobs for the people that want to save there paint jobs on new vehicles.. Also if you ever get tired of it you can always peel it off. I also offer clear bra witch is a clear wrap witch A LOT of dealers actually use and offer to most customers.

Allot of installers do the trunk in 2 pieces like that on the BRZ to each to there own. The wrap isn't perfect by any means but definitely not the worst in the world. The dents in the car are a bit of a worry though if they truly were not there previously. Don't know how the wrap guy would have been the blame for that though but I guess anything is possible. $5000 US is def too much to pay for that wrap. For that sort of money I would rather have had it liquid wrapped instead.
I DIYd my Tesla last week and came out almost perfect, cost about $1k in materials...local shop quoted $4k.....$5k for that is straight up fraud, he better get his $ back.
