That was a very convincing demonstration of the structural integrity of your creation. I can appreciate a person who trusts their handiwork. Excellent build
Stigz is simply amazing and inspiring. He does super amazing work. If I had the money, my first car in his hands would be my 88 Mazda MX-6. For now, I will just continue to absord his knowledge and wisdom.
Damn perfect job. Lots and lots of work. I feel bad for all the downvotes on this video from people who mightve thought that the clay stayed or didn't watch the video all the way through.
Was thinking 'wow, a 1000 HP, wide body pick up truck', then I see a Silvia. Still cool, just not what I was expecting. Congrats on your ride, enjoy the hell out of it.
Can you make a follow up video after paint ? I would love to see the finished product , and you should make some forms so you can duplicate . People would definitely buy your kit if it was available . Great work as per usual !
I agree forms would have been a good idea not just for other people but for yourself. When the guy drifts in to a wall or somthing and destroys his custom work.lol this way you dony have to go through all that to make him new ones.
Now THIS, THIS is a real WIDEBODY. Not just fender flares pretending to be a wide body. Excellent, excellent work sir! I really would love to do something like this but man the sheer amount of time would be my only issue. Very inspiring sir!
Looks great! Considering the same for a Prelude project. Not quite as wide. How do you recommend attaching the panels to the original rear quarters so that the physical mount points are never seen?
I really thought you were going to use them as a buck/mould for laying the actual fenders. Wouldn't have been that much more work and you would've had a quick way to reproduce one in the event of a crash. Great work either way. Looks awesome, and tasteful lines. Certainly a professional job no matter how you slice it.
Awsome skills Stigz. So what did that cost all up for the fibre work? What was the name of the material that you pressed in the gap of the bumper after taping the body first at the end of the video. Where would i get Gel coat from. I want to give this a try on my old dune buggy body. Would love to do a couple of classes with you. Great to learn these skills.
Hi really love all your works!! Really amazing!! Thank you for the great videos. I have a question. How many pounds of potting clay did you use to model a back bumper?
great and informative video like always Russell! also I'm planning on finishing my fenders (the gills on the mercedes if you remeber) this summer! so I'll definetly link you to the finished product once I do. and I'm doing some welding as opposed to clay and fiber glassIng due to time constraints for some parts.
So I'm new to this whole DIY body thing, but would it be better to take off original body panels when placing the new panels back on for finishing touches? I assume it would be a lighter result. Or are they there for extra support? Or does it not make much of a difference at all?
Edmund Alailefaleula the rear quarter panels do not bolt off they would have to be cut off and the weight reduction wouldn't be much, I'm not too familiar with silvias but i believe the structural integrity would be unaffected by the removal, i think it would just be a lot of work for a very small result, hope this helps
+Edmund Alailefaleula To add to what the guy above said, I am familiar with Silvias and the answer to your question is "cut the wheel arch to get the clearance you need, but cut only what you have to, then fold, weld, seal the cut, then weld on an extension from the lip and seal it to the new fibreglass guard". Technically, if you're prepared to cut the spot welds you can remove the rear quarter panels on a Silvia, but being a monocoque chassis, it's a big job and one that you would only ever undertake unless you had to do so, due to serious panel damage. For a widebody, you *always* leave the rear quarters on, and I've never seen a kit that replaced all of the metal. The weight difference would be negligible, and the difference in strength, complexity, time and fit/finish makes it a terrible idea. If you thought that sculpting those widebody guards was a mission, imagine sculping the *entire rear of the car* as you suggested. I'd leave that one to the students working for the car manufacturers, as you'd basically be sculpting a new car.
Watching your claywork vids made me wanna take this up as a summer project for my car, lol. How much clay do you use on panels this large? I'm guessing it's a few buckets of clay that get used for this process?
You are indeed a living legend! sooner than later i'll come over to NZ and pay you some good money so i can learn from you! Do you have any way to contact you personally other than TH-cam?
does the clay stay there or do you remove it after the fiberglass fender are made ??????? that shit must weigh a ton man. it did come out really nice sweet as hell looking good job !
Not a bad end result but you certainly made a lot more work for yourself than needed. You had a nice smooth surface to lay glass down and then stuffed it laying cling wrap and foil creating wrinkles everywhere when you should have used a release agent then gel coated then layed the glass. Then pulled it off and used it as a mould to make a flawless copy that would have required next to no filler work at all. Time= money. You also added much more weight using so much filler making that 1000hp engine now work much harder to move more weight!
Hi my name is Joe, looking to do something to my car, idk if its going to be a job that would work like this but you seem like the guy to ask haha. I want to make wide front fenders for my NB Miata to fit a wider front wheel and tire, idealy it would look somewhat OEM but have a 30-50 mm widebody and i want room for the tire to travel up, like it does in the OEM fender well. Is that something i could maybe achieve with this style of work? also it seems like this would be pretty heavy, using all that clay.
meus parabéns otimo trabalho excelente acabamento mas vou te falar so de ver o trabalho que da fique cansado!!! imagina vc que fez isso no Brasil nunca ouvi nem dizer muito Bom !!!
I have no idea of what type of clay to use but found a place near me that sells bulk. Just wondering on what type of clay? Is it pugged clay? (no idea what I'm talking about).
Hey this is great work, I love your videos. I am researching these processes not for auto, but for unmanned aircraft system design. How long did this project take in real time? I love the sped up so we can get the overall picture, but just curious on real timeline.
That was a very convincing demonstration of the structural integrity of your creation. I can appreciate a person who trusts their handiwork. Excellent build
You have done some amazing craftsmanship here sir. I've done fiberglass boxes, etc. so I appreciate your efforts. Well done!!
I like how the whole kit is custom made and nobody else but that car owner will have that design. Perfect.
Stigz is simply amazing and inspiring. He does super amazing work. If I had the money, my first car in his hands would be my 88 Mazda MX-6. For now, I will just continue to absord his knowledge and wisdom.

Jean Fresco Exactly the same boat, man. Friend's got an S15 and was gonna send this to him. Saw it was a Silvia. Lol.
+Moises Padilla, glad I wasn't alone!
A truck guy that has respect for cars like this? This gives me hope for humanity
Jean Fresco Me too
It's not his lol
Absolutely incredible work!! Definitely a huge inspiration to try something yourself instead of settling for a body kit that you don’t like
I can't even properly finish a half of a 1/5th scale car clay model, and you're out here doing this? Major props dude
Can you make a follow up video after paint ? I would love to see the finished product , and you should make some forms so you can duplicate . People would definitely buy your kit if it was available . Great work as per usual !
Yes I will. Waiting on the owner to paint it.
I agree forms would have been a good idea not just for other people but for yourself. When the guy drifts in to a wall or somthing and destroys his custom work.lol this way you dony have to go through all that to make him new ones.
@@S1KRYD I have a question. I hope you see and reply to this.
Great video. Thanks for sharing the knowledge. This will absolutely help me with my kayak build.
Excellent work on the project Russ, I hope that one day I'll be able to do something like this.
You perfectly contour the clay to the cars shape and here I am having a hard time making a smooth play-doh snake....
That explains your profile pic. 😂🤣😂
This is the real way of making a wide body! Props to you guys!
Very nice clay work, guys got lots of talent
good old propper kiwi garage, getting put to use. good job you done
Awesome job STIGZ! Hi from a fan in Christchurch :)
Do you have -pictures of the finish project? I love the video
Man, that's some impressive craftsmanship
Great craft, that was fun to watch.
Seriously confused by the dislikes. This is some extensive work! Love it!
just wondering how much did you spend on that wide body project? not counting the clay just the rest?
Amazing work ! What the key to mount fiberglass fender onto metal body? What did you do to the border between C pillae and the fender ?
Always enjoy watching your process and results. Very inspirational, keep at it!
Nice work love the look on the car . Love your videos
Great job🔥🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥👍👍
This is amazing, I had no clue this was even possible
Now THIS, THIS is a real WIDEBODY. Not just fender flares pretending to be a wide body. Excellent, excellent work sir! I really would love to do something like this but man the sheer amount of time would be my only issue. Very inspiring sir!
that is awesome..got any ideas for a sienna??
What an awesome project. Where do you buy that much clay?
Looks great! Considering the same for a Prelude project. Not quite as wide. How do you recommend attaching the panels to the original rear quarters so that the physical mount points are never seen?
I have other videos showing how this is done. Check out the 90 min video on the RX7 veilside build
Nice job true craftsmanship brilliant
I saw the white Celica in the back at the end. What did you end up doing to it? I have one and I want to custom the trim and flare the fenders.
Incredible work. Thanks for sharing.
I havent even watched to the end yet, and mate you did one hella of a job there :)
you gentlemen can shape a pre-peg carbon fiber into surf boards. As always, i greatly appreciate your sharing of your awesome talents. 😎
Yes I can build surf boards out of carbon fiber if you want.
You would lay the carbon over the top of a Styrofoam core like a lot of surf boards. It would float just fine. But it would look super cool!
I really thought you were going to use them as a buck/mould for laying the actual fenders. Wouldn't have been that much more work and you would've had a quick way to reproduce one in the event of a crash. Great work either way. Looks awesome, and tasteful lines. Gel coat is from any fiberglass outlet. The bog is called New Tech. It is a 50% carbon fiber and 50% alloy mix
Thanks
one of the best videos to date on how to clay shape/fiberglass. wow, great job. love seeing you put so much pride in what you do.
Where can I buy this type of clay? I'm planning on doing custom fender flares for my H3, and clay idea seems 👌
That's seriously work of art
Fantastic work! How much clay did you roughly use to make this bodykit? Thanks!
Wait so you use the clay as a template and use fiber glass over it ?
Class' first time iv seen that done' that's a form of Art 👍🏻
Thanks mate. You are right it is art!
Hi really love all your works!! Really amazing!! Thank you for the great videos. I have a question. How many pounds of potting clay did you use to model a back bumper?

Hey man I look forward to see it! Cant wait
Hello guys. Please i need to know what kind of Clay you used? And from where I can buy it?
these clay making videos are so great , i love it

Awesome video and amazing work and talent! A critique if I may? Perhaps add some music to the video?
You tube hammers me for doing that
Bummer :( Guess I'll just have to play my own tunes. Love your videos none the less! I'm currently half way through the Fortune RX7 one!
gorgeous work brother
Watching your claywork vids made me wanna take this up as a summer project for my car, lol. How much clay do you use on panels this large? I'm guessing it's a few buckets of clay that get used for this process?
I have 450KG worth but I probably used half of it for this project
that's a lot 😶 any recommendations on a clay to use, or will any cheap pottery clay work?
just like always. you are awesome. !!!!
STIGZ great job you're an artist
unreal. what an art and hours of work
Wont be too long till we can 3d print this shit. Then the world is a car guys oyster
you already can if you have a large enough printer
Who asked for your advise anyway asshole
That cough! i thought mine was pretty bad. Excellent job my friend.
Congratulations.your work is Just..amazing!!!!
Wow you are a artist..!!!!!
Your job is awesome man.. thank's for sharing

He says in the vid that the clay has been removed.
I was wondering if you could tell me where I can buy the resin, fiber matt and what type of resin I van use.I want to learn making nice things
Beautiful work
Nice work. What do you use to bond the wide arch to the car body?
Gorgeous job! Spot on
Awesome learn lot of things from ya. Like brushing primer and using packaging tape. You need a lavalier mic buddy.
Not a bad end result but you certainly made a lot more work for yourself than needed.

@Stigz - was the clay used for this molding same as clay for kids ?
Was this built for competiting reasons or just for cosmetics?
Where can I see it painted? Also, is that cough from doing these jobs?
thanks for the great acid flashback! great job!
I enjoyed the video! Keep it up!

No Brasil seria dez vezes mais caro né, mas vou fazer meu projeto isso an mesmo....
Wow you guys do a great job!
what is usually the easiest piece craft for a beginner?
a huge respect from me, big work, btw nice car
to do a full custom car. front to back. What would it cost
How much do you think all the clay, fiberglass and carbon fiber cost?
very good job looks awesome :) how much did it end up costing the customer? Roughly how many hours to do this?
Holy Moly thats a nice widebody s15!
What clay do you use? I'm finding it hard to fund bulk clay here in Australia.
I have no idea of what type of clay to use but found a place near me that sells bulk.
Just wondering on what type of clay? Is it pugged clay? (no idea what I'm talking about).
Your s15 looks awesome
Very smart work
How did you bond the carbon to the fiberglass
How do you adhere the glass/carbon to the original body panel?
0:18 Nice girl in the left corner. Loved your work and neatness but the car is begging for a spoiler now :D
haha nah mate that is a guy with dreads. He works for a panel beater in the town I live it. He is doing an apprenticeship. He is good at what he does.
Hahaha i was kidding man :D Will you share with us when the car is done with the paint job and all ?
crazy skills.
looks stunning
Veramente un bellissimo lavoro!!
Hey this is great work, I love your videos. I am researching these processes not for auto, but for unmanned aircraft system design. How long did this project take in real time? I love the sped up so we can get the overall picture, but just curious on real timeline.
I think it was 4 weeks
No way thats 1000 hp. 999 maybe, but not 1000. 😊 Good work, cheers.
Hello good I would like to know that is the material that you use to mold the body kit is it some kind of clay?
Is there a reason you didn't cut the body out? Just thinking you'll have issues with the tyre rubbing
Cause when you do a widebody you put on tire spacers to fit under the widebody
I would love to see what you could come up with on my 370z!! Magnificent work.👍
are you going to work on that white celica, would love to see it wide body, just because I have one.. ;)
Wicked video!! Pure talent
So if you want to make another panel you have to go through all of that again? Why didn't you make a mold from the clay and then lay up in the mold?
Man looks good one of my favorite cars..need somthing like this done on my GS300 but not so agressive maybe like a 25mm wide.....great job
Nice job mate ! Is that a Celica Gt 4 on the left ? The white one ...
Yes
I have one too, and i am modifying it right now :)
How many kg of potters clay are spent for this job ?
epic work STIGZ, how many hours did that take?
