Hi Frik & Petro... Ereğli is one of my favorite town in the western Turkish Black Sea coast. SAD-AFAG had made research in 1988-1989 there for monk seals. I also worked in the Karadeniz Ereğli iron and steel plant in the same period. I hope you enjoyed much sailing in Turkish Black Sea coasts with marvelous coasts. Greetings from Turkey...
Hey Cem!! How are you? So good to see you here again. We loved Eregli, and can honestly also say that it was our favorite place to visit :-) We found the Turkish Black Sea coasts completely different to the southern coastline of Turkey, they both have their own beauty. Stay safe out there . . .
On your way to the Carrebean you should seriously consider hopping the northern coast of such Sicily. In particular, Messina, eolran islands, Cefalù, Castellammare del golfo and the egadi Islands. There is a strong relationship between castellammare del Golfo and Cape Town. I highly recommend the norther coadt of Sicily.
Hi Nino!! Thanks for popping in 😃. Our videos are slightly behind real time, we are currently in the Canaries. Our Sicily video will be out shortly, so keep on watching 🤗
My husband and I love watching you both! We will be out on a catamaran in about 5 year. I also wanted Petro to know I love the lighter color hair makes her look so young! (not that she wasn't beautiful before)
Petro also thought so and changed the music in our later videos :-) it will get better! just hang in there! BTW, I really admire your stamina to go through all our old videos! Must have been a pain to sit through shaky videos and house music!
Howdy! About your Lewmar Anchor Remote: if you felt like sending the broken one to me, I bet can can fix it and also add BlueTooth LE functionality to it so you have two methods as a backup. I’ll also write a custom iPhone/iPad/AppleWatch app to control it. I looked up the price of those things. That’s crazy! I’d need to know the voltage at the red wire. That’s about it.
Thank you so much Chris! No we’re not part of the ARC, but we have however formed a group of about 12 boats that will be crossing. Non official 😃. Loads of information sharing and support!
👍 Informative 👏 Soon to be released 'Cruising Guide & Journal of the BLACK SEA'... aboard the sailing catermaran SISU written by Frik and Petro printed in South Africa Book form is 1/2" [13mm] thick with picture's in color and will include a DVD or Blu-Ray disc, USB and or SD cards. Please be specific RATED PG for the whole family 🙂
Always love to see you two being happy with each other. Very positive and life affirming. PS: You should do something with the sound. Your intro is way too low level and the sound in the videos is often off, makes it hard to understand what you're saying.
Hi, we will definitely look into the intro and adjust. Our fluffy mic decided to bail ons us from time to time, but you’ll notice the sound will start getting better in a view videos down the line 😅
Stywe lyne sakkie ..you can do it. Make sure you end up in place where you can get your vaccine. The world is your oyster.. Your journey has just begun. Sterkte.
We want to stop at a couple of places in the Med that we didn't do on our way in, and we have to wait for hurricane season to end (November), so will only cross first week in December, which will take about 3 weeks. So hopefully we can have a real Caribbean rum by Xmas. Thank you for watching.
That glass is to posh to have brandy , it has to be in tall glass min three fingers brandy two ice blocks and 150 ml coke going back 20 years when i lived in S A .
Sisu , thnx for "real world" sailing channel !. Frik as you gained a vast amount of sailing knowledge would you again consider the 45 or would you up to the 50 (Lets leave the money variable out). Cheers and safe traveling.
Adrian, difficult to say because the L50 will handle bigger seas and bigger wind much better. But, we are happy! We can still manage to get into most marinas where I know a L50 would be a squeeze. As for lifts... Even less. So, we are happy. We can still keep Sisu cozy and personal with two on board. That L50 is a big girl!
Hey guys, I have another question now that you've gained more experience on your Leopard. Do you ever think you'd utilise the speed of a performance Cat or in your opinion is the speed gain not important? Keep the vids coming.....they're great.
Mick, I got asked that question a lot :-D especially after Riley mentioned us and pointed a link to our L45 performance video :-) If there is a performance boat I want, then it is the Outremer 55. Frikken amazing to sail 5kts in 5kts wind! That said, we did 17.5kts on our L45 the other day and I cannot say that I was thrilled...frikken scary! But I guess a boat like the Outremer 55 would put you at ease at those speeds or you will get used to it :-D On the other hand, I am thinking that if I install all the tech and load the 55 as we loaded Sisu, would it still do those speeds, would the 55 still be safe? that is now besides the humangus price tag :-) I think one has to be in a very different mindset...Petro and I are minimalists, on that 55 we really need to have only one kitchen knife :-D
I hope this is going to be my story in 4 to 5 years. Saving up for a CAT and need to learn how to sail:))) but would love to do the UK to the Black Sea journey, heading to Bulgaria and Romania. I wanted to find out how dangerous the Bosphorus actually is. Heard the currents are a killer. How did you guys get through it?
Wow, exciting times ahead for you! The currents were pretty strong, we motored all the way to the Black Sea, but coming back we had the current in our favor, and we actually sailed under Genoa only. Pretty tricky to dodge the big tankers, but other than that, it was amazing.
@@SailingSisu Thank you guys, I really envy you:) In my case it will be the wife and I plus our non identical twin daughters. this is the main reason I need to wait at least 5 years. Don't wanna throw the little ones on a boat when too young, plus I am expecting them to help out:) We are older parents so we'll have to see. We may need to start slower and pay for storage initially and do a few months a year then jump and make it more permanent. Gonna be costly:( By the way, how did you guys pass Africa coming from SA? I thought pretty much all the waters around Africa are a big NO NO due to piracy.
Hey Paul, the Turbo works great! We still have a couple of whiskey kits, but ran out of rum flavors. Where are you based? We outa Rum and Gin . . . . desperately need to replenish.
@@SailingSisu Hi, I am in OZ & love the Blue Gin from Pure Distilling, the White Rum from top shelf Top Spirits & if you like Captian Morgans then the best match I have found is the Spiced Rum from Samuel Willards.

Hello, from Brazil. Several sailors from Brazil navigate through whole Mediteranean Sea, but they never go through Black Sea, beacuse it seems foreign boat are forbiden in Black Sea. I saw your boat has a Romanian flag. Is this information true?
Hello Renato. Our boat is Seychelles flagged, and we had no problems (besides COVID). You just need to find out if your passport allows you to enter the countries surrounding the Black Sea. I think you don’t even need a visa for Russia?? But you can check all this info on internet. Good luck and stay safe 🤙

At least we try! Not all cocktails, palm trees and white beaches though!
Wow your video and camera work are excellent. Thanks you two!

I bought a wireless 4x4 winch remote to control my windless, works from anywhere on board!!
I think that's the way to go for sure!
Enjoy watching you okes.
Good to hear, thanks Jan

Aahhhh, I (Petro) was born in PE and lived there throughout my school years. My mom and eldest sister’s still there 😁

This is so interesting and therapeutic. Have you ever thought of going to Russia through Turkish and Georgian harbors?
Oh yeah, little bit difficult with Georgia and then Russia, or Russia and then Ukraine... But covid lock downs stopped all those plans... 😢
@@SailingSisu it would be so interesting to visit Russia or Ukraine through harbors, it's like entering a different space zone.
Go back this year (2022), hit all the ports and tell us what happens!

I can't believe they didn't make the remote for the windlass waterproof or at the very least water resistant, that's a fail!
