    Good video and pretty accurate in how to mod these cabs, using ETA Prime model. I've modded both a streetfighter and pacman using the same technique. Two things I would add is that you don't need the amp, and also you can use the power and volume buttons. The video board you have also has an amp built in, and on the bottom right there are two connections that can be connected to the stock speaker, and sounds just as good - without danger of blowing the speaker with an external amp (which I did). Volume is then controlled by the small control you stuck next to the board. Power and volume can be connected to the pi's pins and a simple script added to make them both work (very important you use the right pins for power). Look for videos on this by Holly on TH-cam, that's who I used.

    Great build & nice to see a UK one!
    I've got the Costco mortal kombat with light up marquee. Do you know if I could still us the marquee?
    How's the button placement work for you? Ideally I'd get a street fighter Cab to mode (having all 6 buttons together) but I'm running out of space! Haha
    I think I'd do this mod, add a second speaker & have the amp attached to the outside on the top. What do you think?

    • @nutmeister
      @nutmeister  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Am sure you would be able to light it up off either the PI4 or HDMI board. The button placement is ok but not as good as the SF2 cabinet because that has the traditional layout. The amp would be better outside and the stock speakers are awful . I’ve actually ran a aux cable and hooked it up to my pc set up now. Any speakers with a aux connection can be used. Enjoy and have fun modding it. Thank you for watching and for the feedback.

    Great video, quick question which case did you get for RSP4, and does it have cooling. I've just purchased a SF2 1up Cabinet and also like you have Virtualmans Image, I enjoy playing the likes of crazy taxi etc but will need to overclock - is your case ok when pi4 overclocked?

    • @nutmeister
      @nutmeister  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Covfather. The Flirc case is the best on the market and can deal with overclock no problems at all. With this case there is no need for a fan, so no noise . It has a thermal paste pad that cool the PI4 and does a remarkable job at that. It can handle temps of upto 80C. Hope this helps. I have a link to the case in the description, click on there for more info. Thx for watching 👍 appreciate it massively!

      @@nutmeister and thats kind of the plan. Is there a cabinet that you think is the best to start the build with? I'd rather not drill it if I can avoid that, but I guess the Coin buttons are needed for the arcade coin buttons. Any you recommend as the best Base box to mod?

    • @nutmeister
      @nutmeister  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All arcade1Up cabinets are good to use , but I would go for a street fighter or mortal Kombat cabinet for the 6 buttons. Drilling part is so easy and the panel I drilled into was thinner part with no decals . You could leave that panel out all together when you build the cabinet , and have the buttons inside the cabinet but also that would leave a massive gap in the front. Or you could leave the back panel off and just have the buttons around the back. Drilling them somewhere would be the best option.

    • @nutmeister
      @nutmeister  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your having this issue then the encoder hasn’t been wired up correctly. You need to make sure all the wiring on the encoder for player one match those on player two. If they don’t match exactly the same then when you configure the controls in settings it won’t configure correctly because the encoders are conflicting with one another. Watch the part in my video we’re am doing the button swop over and the part we’re am talking about the encoders. Even if you think there right go and check it to definitely rule it out.

    • @nutmeister

      This could be a number of reason. Go back over your button wiring and make sure it all matches player one for a start. Make sure it’s all wired up securely on the second encoder. Then make sure the usb cable is correctly connected to the PI4 from the second connecter. Then work backwards. Swop the usb around and see if it only sets up player 2. If it does you might have a usb issue if it doesn’t you might have a encoder issue. Process of illumination.

      Looking at doing one these myself, just a few questions if you’ve got time.
      Can you run ps2 or GameCube through pi 4? How do you recognise which buttons are which when playing a 4 button game like tekken? E.g. there’s 6 buttons there so how do you know what x,o etc would be for ps? Did you run retro pi yourself? Do you find it easy to update more games into the sd card? And was it worth it?

    • @nutmeister
      @nutmeister  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi.
      Since a RPI4 is an arm or aarch64 architecture, it can’t run PS2. GC game can run on a RPI4 using a emulator called dolphin but it’s hit and miss with what games that work.
      When setting up your cabinet there is a process we’re you map your buttons , once they are set up , you can boot a game up and check your button mapping, if it’s not to your liking you can go into setting and change the layout, it’s really simple to do.
      Retro PI was built into the image. So I just copied the image onto a SD card and booted it straight from the PI.
      Adding games is easy to do. You need a pc and you need to make sure your pi is connected to your internet. Then you get the your pi’s I.P address then use a pc to access it. Then drop the roms you want to add. Loads of great guides out there on TH-cam which explains it better.
      For me it was worth it because I love retro gaming and spent a lot of my younger days in arcades.

      @@theknight8036 thank you for the feedback much appreciated. PI 4 in my opinion works just as well in a 1up cabinet , the reason some would say that the 3 is preferred is because there has been more themes made for it because it has been around longer. The PI4 infact runs games that would struggle on the 3, so for me I would pick the 4 over the 3 any day. There is amazing themes now on the 4 also so that debate is kinda getting old now. Regards to the amp debate, this is a optional extra and isn’t needed. It will only blow the speaker if you crank it up to much because the speakers in the 1up ain’t great. I’ve converted a lot of these cabinets and for some people i do a speaker upgrade and the amp is needed. If your not changing the speakers then the amp is a nice to have and not essential.
