There are quite a few companies out there that still make arcades. I live in the Tampa Bay Area, and a new arcade building company started recently. It seems arcades are having a bit of a come back. Our local arcade (Replay Amusement Museum in Tarpon Springs) is very popular and almost always packed. Ours is $14 for a day pass. $8 for kids under 12.

Arcades aren't as dynamic than during the 1990s, especially with how powerful videogame consoles are along with their online capabilities.
To me, arcades main appeal are the racing, gift, test your strength & dancing games, something that aren't easily replicated at home. Kudos, for the OP making a MK1 cabinet though.

This takes me back. Used to work at a vending company in a warehouse tearing down old games, building new ones, redoing all the joysticks and buttons, and replacing all the art on the cabinets and making sure the coin mechanisms worked. My mom owned an arcade through the 80s, and we always had games at home to fix and play nonstop haha.

That is a thing of absolute beauty! Are the other MK cabinets original or custom built as well? Hard to judge the size in the video but the graphics on the cab look correct

Absolutely beautiful builds - as others have said though, the finishing touch would be a smoked tempered glass panel in front of the screen (would help with glare and reflection, too).

I know it’s hard to compare old tech to new…but the screen difference alone between the original mortal kombat and this unit is insane. It’s like looking at alien tech next to our stuff.

it is a sore thumb tbh. im not kicking dirt on their craftsmenship, it's top notch. but the actual game is pretty awful. the mystique is gone in the series. well, it has been gone for awhile. i think us middle aged white guys will forever be chasing the environment and excitement that the 1990s arcade experience brought us but only to always feel like a key component isn't there...imagination.

@@an0therdimensi0n99MK1 is fine it's the micro transactions that are awful. Still, Conan is coming so it's still cool.

Valeu!

Since u guys used an Xbox Series X console to power the arcade cabinets, some of the buttons should be LB instead of L1, LT instead of L2, RB instead of R1, and RT instead of R2. And also, View, Menu, and Share Buttons.

Def brings back arcade memories. I remember when mk3/umk3 came out with the huge projection type screen and set up that, especially for the time, could rival this one if not better.
I'd love to see all these mk pros compete against each other on a arcade set up in a mk1 tourney at one of these big events instead of console play all the time.

Man I remember when tekken 5 came out and everybody was at arcades not only kids but young adults playing. Arcade was awesome, plentiful fighting games and racing. Good old days where everyone was watching and crowding. When gaming was at its beginning era. Arcade gaming better than console/PC for brief period, those were good times man

Phenomenal build. Looks fantastic. Only thing I would've added is a pane of tempered glass between the player and that nice 50" screen to protect it from frustrated players. Not too late, just more work, if there's a need for that. If I had unlimited skills and materials and capabilities I might've added a different to each cabinet side, but really I'm digging here. The entire things looks amazing. Top quality stuff.
