    I Compare the Yamaha R7 with its main rivals, the Honda CBR 650R, the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and the Aprilia RS 660 . This is a full scale, detailed comparison of the R7 with it's competitors on Price, Looks, Exhaust sound (Stock and aftermarket), Performance, Comfort and Reliability to help potential buyers make an informed decision and choose the bike that fits their needs perfectly.
    In my opinion, for street riding the CBR650R and the Ninja 650 are it's bigger competitors because of better streetability as opposed to the RS600 which is more of a track focused bike than the others.

    Out of these the CBR is my favorite, but tbh I picked the naked version for myself, that being said I do believe it is an excellent beginners bike, 4-cylinders are so smooth and linear at low rpm so it’s really easy to control, and the fact that it has traction control, slipper clutch and ABS makes it perfect for starters, I wouldn’t recommend anyone without experience to drive without this aids

I wish the R7 would look more like the R1 in color with the grey color on some of the trim. If Honda would give the CBR650R the same color scheme as the Fireblade. This video is accurate and informative in every aspect, even the personal preferences like the looks and sounds are the same as me.
    The valves of my Apilia just got blown away. Not to mention there are more minor issues I have experienced. I have replaced 3 ABS sensors, starter relay and etc.
    and I am thinking about selling it after it got fixed by the official Aprilia store here in Taiwan. The bike is unreliable, and the Aprilia mechanics here are untrustworthy, I have seen their work. Even fork oil change I had to spend a day watching them installing the forks back to the right place so the bike doesn’t run unbalanced.

    • @RiderXp
      @RiderXp  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the appreciation. And I'm sorry about your Aprilia situation. My friends who own Aprilias in India & US have similar feedback. They love the bikes as long as they run, but they're always worried about how long will it work before it breaks down.. That's the reason I didn't buy one here in the US, even though i absolutely love the RS660

    • @timmychen6
      @timmychen6 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RiderXp I like your video and its well made.
      Regarding to the bike, one of the biggest reasons is that it’s hard to find decent mechanics here in Taiwan. They can even change the wrong amount of engine oil, not just Aprillia store.
      That’s why I started to maintain and repair the bike myself. But matter of fact I just want to ride it.
      And I will definitely not buy a RS660 although it does seem somewhat attractive to me.

    • @timmychen6
      @timmychen6 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RiderXp labor isn’t cheaper here in Taiwan. And bikes here are like around 2 times more expensive than in the US on average.
      For example, RS660 is around 18,500 USD here in Taiwan. R7 is around 15,000 USD here. They are a bit less than 2x price in the US.
      Bikes like Panigale are like 65,000 USD here. Which is more than 2 times.
      Labor cost isn’t really what I concern.

    In New Zealand, the new 2021 CBR650R is $14,995 (down-tuned for learners), 2021 R7 is $13,499 (down-tuned for learners) or $14,499 (full power), only $500 differences compared to CBR650R and it is full power, but my mate, he's an experienced biker told me that I should go for the CBR650R because the R7 parallel twin engine will not compete with the inline 4 cylinders engine. For the only CBR650R we have here, I can remove the restriction for the full power for around $800. BTW, he owns 2017 CBR650F, he loves it. I would like to hear your opinion on which one I should get. Thanks.

      I had the 2015 CBR650F and I rode it for 2 years in India. Back then I used to enjoy touring and I rode it 1600 kms. (1,000 miles) in a day and a half. Overall I rode it over 20,000 kms before I moved to US. I can definitely say that the CBR650F or the R are great bikes for intermediate riders (I had 7 years of riding experience before i got the 650, i had been riding a 150 and a 250 before it) But if you get a de-tuned option in NZ, that's great, you should definitely go for it because there's nothing like an inline 4. The smoothness, Honda reliability, the exhaust note (aftermarket) make it a great package. So go for it mate! You won't regret it 👍

Yes she is underpowerd and not having too much electronics but if you really want everything from bike then I think middleweight is not a good segment. Because middleweight bikes are link between beginners bikes and liter class bikes so missing few electronics is not a big deal.

    Best value : kawasaki
    Ok so 4 of my friends have Aprilias and love them but don't use them as a daily commute they come with more bling as standard but after riding them 2 RSV'S and 2 Tourno's i dont like them very hard feel uncomfortable way to much torque and vibrate like shit..
    I own a R6 2019 and love it.
    But as a bike for a newbie stepping up from a R3 or a Ninja 400 I'd so NOOOOOO
    Its a pure race bike period and as, a commute its terrible....
    So i believe the R7 will tick the most boxes for price and usability the biggest disappointment is the HP if it was say 90 hp it be the perfect bike & TC would of been nice also.

      Last night I rode a Honda Grom to Daytona bike week and back so I don’t believe any bike is a bad bike. At the end of the day, it’s the rider. Having said that, i’m increasingly realizing that on American highways, not having power on tap is pretty intimidating and ability to quickly accelerate away from a car being stupid is indeed quite a God sent advantage (As I realized when I test rode an XSR700 as well yesterday). The Ninja 650, in India for example, for the average speeds, traffic and roads, would absolutely not be a beginner bike and be plenty fast for anyone. So my apologies if that’s how I cam across in this video. In subsequent videos I did attempt to bring in a global context at least from the countries that I have ridden in myself.

    Here the cbr and r7 are only $100 apart ,cbr @$10,899 and r7 @ $10,799 (Canadian) Cbr quick shifter is only an extra $300 CDN here too not $500+ USD shown in this video, also wet weight is 208kg not 211kg.
    Can’t remember ninja exact price but fair bit lower, and rs660 is $13699 which is kind of insane as you can get a zx6r for same price or bit lower even.
    Rs660 nicest bike out of the 4 for sure but pay the premium for it. That being said I just can’t get behind the reliability issues aprilia has and lack of dealer network etc and really wish it was an i4, buddy of mine has a cbr650r 22’ and damn the things looks nice with few basic mods. Can’t get over how nice it sounds with a yoshimura underbelly shorty, deep growl but screams at high rpm w/ tons of crackles and pops. shaved like 15lbs vs stock, weighed both of them.
    R7 is light and has a shorter wheelbase etc so can be a wheelie monster which makes sense as it’s really a mt07 with fairings. Just doesn’t have the top end though, nice low down torque and flickability .
    Ninja is last overall in performance but it is substantially cheaper and still nice bike. Can feel the lack of power vs other 3 , esp the cbr and rs660, still does pretty good tho.
    I’ve watched track videos of the 4 and rs660 is top overall which isn’t surprising , surprisingly the cbr was outpacing the r7 just barely despite being less nimble but held its own in the corners but gained the time on the straights and top end, holds gears better . Ninja was fair bit slower than the 3 as well, def the least sporty bike but most comfortable ergonomics

    • @RiderXp
      @RiderXp  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Depending on the need and application, each bike has it's own place. I've owned and ridden the CBR and loved it for sports touring on Indian highways. In the US, I found it a bit underwhelming. Also got the opportunity to test ride the Aprilia recently and loved it a lot more than the CBR. Only apprehension with the RS660 is the reliability which hasn't changed significantly from what here in the racing community and my local race tracks. R7 may be a middle of the road compromise, i.e. reliable and still a lot of fun. Ninja 650 is good for relaxed long distances or even commuting but I could never find that parallel twin engine exciting enough.

      CBR650R is a sports tourer, makes less power, is designed & works much better for street riding. CBR600RR is a supersport bike which is designed for super sport class racing, makes more power and is meant for the track. You can of course use either bike for either purpose but the experience will be sub-optimal because they’ve been designed differently. Not just Honda, there are several other brands that have similar examples like the Kawasaki Ninja 650 & the Ninja ZX6R compare similarly.

So at least in the US it is easy to chose the R7 which is fun to ride, at par with its competitors & can also be raced in twins cup. While the cbr600rr would fall in the supersport class and would be very expensive to make competitive in its class. For the street, cbr600rr would be faster but certainly an overkill in terms of price & performance compared to the R7. The cbr600rr & R7 are completely different bikes in every aspect but i’ve made an attempt. Hope it helps.

    Is it just me, or is the cheapest Kawasaki even the best looking one of them?

      Looks are subjective. So if you find it the best looking, that's the best of both worlds... cheap and best! 👍

      Kawasaki I think looks better than the CBR because of the rear. In order to make the CBR look better you have to spend more money on a rear seat cowl. And the Kawi is cheaper and more comfortable than the rest. You'll get more miles on it than the other 3

    Is r7 track bike like r6?? Or a sports tourer

    • @RiderXp
      @RiderXp  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ninja 650 budget friendliest, but I hate those skinny 160 rear tires on a sports bike.
    CBR 650R, Heaviest bike, if you really want a cruiser, just buy a CBR650R.
    Aprilia RS660, Tech savvy, best power, & sexy. But, most expensive OTD & maintenance.
    R7, Arguably the best looking bike along w/RS660, most torque @ lowest rpm's=most fun, but the only one in this group that has super sport seating position so not comfort friendly.

    But the CBR is an inline 4

      Yes, but the riding characteristics and power delivery are quite aligned with the 650 class. I’ve owned and ridden it for years.

      I’ve had the cbr & the stock exhaust note sounds like a honda commuter car. It only gets bad ass once you throw a aftermarket exhaust. This was a stock comparison and stock, the Aprilia sounds better
