Holy crap. My mom talked me in to buying a ScanNCut but I'm not a quilter or a scrapbooker so I wasn't sure I'd make good use of it, because I [struggle to] make doll clothes. Thank you for your demonstrations and tips. I now know how I can apply this machine!
Courtney, thank you so much!!!! I did learn some new tricks from this video, especially about the pens, I never knew what each pen was designated for..... As always, you're an awesome instructor.
You are so delightful and your sense of humor makes me laugh. All the knowledge you and your sisinlaw share is amazing. I’m in PA, but if you were local, oh yes, my sewing crafty friends and I would be there. Lol! Keep the scan cut videos coming! Personally I liked this video and also like your projects. You make everything look easy! 😁
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE VIDEOS. I HAVE HAD MY SDX225 FOR 4 YEARS TOOK IT OUT OF THE BOX AFTER 2 YEARS, AND NOW SINCE THE BEGINNER VIDEOS I THINK I MIGHT BE ABLE TO START USING IT. I STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT ALL THE BUTTONS ARE FOR BUT SLOWLY MAYBE I WILL LEARN. THANK YOU CORTNEY LOUGOO
Great video as always. I have a question about cutting out applique pieces on a drawing. Let's say you have an drawing that has 6 different pieces that comprise the drawing - let's say a truck - with the cab of the truck, the back of the truck, and 2 wheels that each have an outer tire and an inner tire piece. How do you "pick apart" that portion of the drawing that will be cut out? Let's say - the inner tire - it's a circle within a circle. How does that work? Thank you so much.
You would need to color sort each item. Depending on what model ScanNCut you have it would change how to do this. With the SDX330 it's super easy to color sort right on the machine. You would just tell it how many colors you have. I will do a show on this soon. If you have a older model then I would recommend doing it in Canvas Wordspace first. I hope that helps. I'll do a video on it soon in more detail I promise. - Courtney
?? Thank you Courtney! I just got my SDX this week and your tutorials give me confidence. I am noticing the mats are very tacky and damages the paper when pulling it off. You mentioned a low tack mat. Is that different than the standard mat? Thanks again!
I am trying to find out about the mats and who well the mats are saved by the new machine? I still have an old machine and i dont want to invest in a new machine until i know that the new technology is advanced enough to save my mats?
hi! maybe you can help me choose from 2 cutters. First is SDX1250 Another is SDX900? whats the difference between them? because in specifications basically everything is the same. Thanks for answer
Hey… does it matter if my scan n cut is the 125 … or do I need to upgrade to the 325 or 330 machine…I just started using mine Ive had it over a year or so ago
Someone sells an extension support for front of machine. A red one for about $20 and someone else sells a white one from Germany for quite a bit more. Do these work? Also, any tips for remembering to turn half cut on or off, or remembering to mirror image? Thanks.
I usually just gently peel up the corner of the material to check if I need to run it again. Then lay it back down if I need to. If it's a thin material it only needs to go through once but if it's thicker it will need to run again. This is only with the rotary blade. The other blades will automatically cut all the way. - Courtney
I have a luminaireii. I’d like to learn how to transfer a design from my ipad. BUT: i’d like 1) excellent close uo camera work. 2) i’d like to see the step repated a number of times. Once looking at the sewing machine computer screen, once looking at the needle plate area, once at my i pad computer screen. Yes repated and with nice clear, slow, close ups. 3) maybe do a sew-along inreal time transfering the ipad data. 4) i’d like to see how to save the computer data I’ve transfered either in the sewing mchine memory-memory stick. I’ve watched a number of computer activated sts, but haven’t learned a thing: poor explanations, poor preparation ie. crumby teaching, poor camera work, skipping over stuff, You speak clearly and seen knowldgable, but i didn’t see clearcamera work. Please edit with a newbee eye before putting it out there for us. Thanks
Mind blown on the fussy cutting!

?? Thank you Courtney! I just got my SDX this week and your tutorials give me confidence. I am noticing the mats are very tacky and damages the paper when pulling it off. You mentioned a low tack mat. Is that different than the standard mat? Thanks again!
For paper I would only use the blue low tack mat. - Courtney
Thank you for the tips.
Our pleasure!
Great tips . Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much ❤❤❤❤
Can you do faux leather and thicker vinyl
Yes it does it like a dream. As long as it's under 3mm. - Courtney
thank you!
This is really helpful - thank you. I'm thinking of getting a ScanNCut for my Memory Bear business - will it cut denim?
Many of our customers use their ScanNCuts for making memory bears.
❤ Thank you
Thank you
Any tips for picking the best iron press? Does steam matter? How about the multi-purpose ones that would do sublimation printing on mugs and hats?
avoid steam for adhesives, we like this one: www.allbrands.com/products/82909-hpn-demo-cp912-120v-hot-pink-craft-market-heat-pre
when you cut out the star, was there anything on the back of that material? it looked stiff.
I am trying to find out about the mats and who well the mats are saved by the new machine? I still have an old machine and i dont want to invest in a new machine until i know that the new technology is advanced enough to save my mats?
Have a tutorial on vinyl fabric for purses
hi! maybe you can help me choose from 2 cutters.
First is SDX1250
Another is SDX900? whats the difference between them?
because in specifications basically everything is the same.
Thanks for answer
Any hint to use print to cut add on. My machine fails to read reg points.
How do you put patterns on usb?
Hi Lois. Insert the usb to the machine and when you go to save the design select the USB icon. - Courtney
Does the DX do this also!
Hey… does it matter if my scan n cut is the 125 … or do I need to upgrade to the 325 or 330 machine…I just started using mine Ive had it over a year or so ago
Do the items blades mats I have for my none DX machine work on my DX?
Someone sells an extension support for front of machine. A red one for about $20 and someone else sells a white one from Germany for quite a bit more. Do these work? Also, any tips for remembering to turn half cut on or off, or remembering to mirror image? Thanks.
Are you referring to the Roll Feeder that cuts 6ft of vinyl? - Courtney
So can this replace the cricut machine it seems better but not if it only does fabric
It can cut vinyl & cork, as well.
Can I cut Sf101 on my 225dx ?
Hi miss can u tell me if sdx2250 scan and cut does embossing please ?
How do I know without ruining my material that I need to cut it more than one time how will I know???
I usually just gently peel up the corner of the material to check if I need to run it again. Then lay it back down if I need to. Hi please help me with pantry labels I bought this machine but never used
