Great video. I bought my Scan n cut maybe 3 years ago. Didn’t use it for almost a year. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Then tried it, forgot how to use it. 😂 A few months ago, I tried it again. It’s a wonderful addition to my craft room! Easy to use when you follow the directions. It is well worth the investment.

Hi Nichol! A trick that works well for me when the mat loses stickiness, is to spray the back of the stamped card stock with a low tack removable spray like Pixie Spray or Aleene’s Repositionable Tacky Spray. Both work well! Hope this helps! 🥰

I saw one TH-camr using Scotch Magic Tape. She said she just does that all the time and it works great.

On a separate note, I hope Brother makes a travel-sized Scan & Cut in the future. Taking mine to a crop is hard being that it's so big and takes up a lot of space in my limited area. A machine half the size would be so great!

I have an older Brother Scan N Cut 2 and it is very handy when you don't have dies. Years ago matching dies were not a thing. Now they are common but an extra expense. By investing once you can cut out most stamped images. And it is great for when you are mass producing something. You can cut a bunch out all at once. You're one of the few that mentions you use it occasionally. During Stamptember is the perfect time to use it when the dies have sold out. Or like you, when you aren't sent the dies. I liked this video.

I just asked myself this same question the other day and I was planning to try this kind of cut shortly 😅. Thank you so much for saving me the work !
I love my Scan&cut more everyday. Of course, the dies are necessary for some special designs (f.e. partial die cutting), but most of the time I can save the money of the dies matching my stamps. And as I have a very tight budget, the purchase of my Scan&cut is one of the best investment I've ever done.

Hi Nicole. For many stamps, I’d buy the dies. Then in one of your videos you used the ScanNCut. I stopped STRESSING to buy or (even) when I miss out on procuring the dies.
Now I can buy TWICE the amount of stamps. 😅

I have the same Brother Scan and Cut as Nichol! There are so many videos online on how to use it. I use it to stamp many images at a time. If the mat is not sticky someone mentioned to put tape on the edges. I tried it and it works great. Like Nichol said hold the paper lightly, and stay with it, don't walk away. It is a time saver and cuts multiple images really well. Play with it, get used to using it. Thanks for the video Nichol it was great! The pencil tip to connect the image is an excellent tip. Look at all images and see if they connect. Enjoy!

QUESTIONS, Please: (( I HOPE you check back on the comments of your older videos ...)) I notice ever so slight "hang nails" on a couple of the cuts; places where the cut is slightly less than smooth. Would changing the blade have eliminated that? And, too, how often do you need to change blades. Thank you EVER SO MUCH for presenting this vid, and whatever help you provide with these questions.

I love my scan n cut for cutting stamped images. Being a Silhouette girl through and through, their scanning is irritating. I bought the SCN2 years ago to save money on dies. The SNC mat does not have much stick which is a pain. I do move my paper around on the mat and also use painter tape to hold i n place. A tip is to use a bit bigger piece of paper and don't stamp as close to the edge. Then you can easily crop out all the little pieces that come up on the full mat. Also sometimes you need to recalibrate the machine so you have even borders. I need to learn to scan stamps that have internal pieces that need cutting...one of these days! Thanks for the great video!

I have had two different SNC's.I orginaially bought one because the Cricut did not Print then Cut, many years ago. I also mainly use it to make rhinestone projects because Cricut doesn't do rhinestone templates. Currently have the SDX125 and I initially upgraded to it so that I wouldn't have buy every dies for every stamp. Well good idea but I still buy every die for every stamp. I don't use it much,

I have one and love it for this too. I’ve never done the pencil lines, so I have been disappointed in that. Now that I know that, I’m sure it will do excellent on those too. Have you tried cutting out sentiments? I wondered how it would do on stamped sentiments. I’ve not had a chance to just play with it much. But it has saved me a ton in buying all those dies. I do add some scotch tape on the corners of what I’m cutting so I don’t have to hold the paper. Just tighten your borders so they are not in your cut sight. It’s saved me some time and frustration for sure. Thanks Nichol!

    • @rojoycanela

With sentiments you “draw” the outline for it so the machine scans the outline and cuts it as such.

buy some transparent circuit mats and stick them ontop of the brother mat, they are much cheaper and have better stick. make sure the edge goes right up theregistration marks so the machine knows the matt is extra thick.

Hey Nichol I love that you showed this, you are always bringing all the tips.
So I remember you mentioned during the stamptember videos that the look you will get won’t be as the die cuts, and you are correct but I also think your machine isn’t calibrated right.
I noticed on the close up that on some places the white border is thicker and in some other skinnier. That has to do with calibration, I may be wrong but mine was doing the same before I calibrated, and the last set of stamps I cut with it, the white border was the same on all sides.
You can access the calibration set up on the main screen with the wrench bottom right icon and then “scanning/cutting position adjustment” you just need a white paper. Hope that helps!

I watch the papered chefs videos on TH-cam for scan and cut, she’s like the scan and cut whisperer. Papered chef, not pampered chef. One of the things she mentions is that when you scan in, turn the overhead light off during scan process, because the light interferes with the image. You can turn overhead light back on after initial scan is over. Does make for a better scan. Check her out!

Smaller size with A4/letter mat, Scan and cut, print and cut, app/pc based operation, design software that lets you draw and erase with a stylus and pen/foil options that let you select single line for all fonts instead of only skinny writing fonts. I wonder if Brother has come kind of copywrite on scan and cut machines, I am surprised no one else has included scanning.

I am not sure every S N C has this function but at the start you can change the setting to colour and up the saturation - colour was hit and miss for me until i found this function. My scan n cut is buried under so much other craft stuff at the moment so i cant get it out to confirm the steps. I hate 'cussy cutting' but until i rearrange things in my bedroom where i mostly craft my SNC will have to stay buried.

Purchase Cricut mats for less than $8 for two. Cut out the 12 x 12 of your well-loved, no longer sticky Brother Scan mat, just inside of the lines on your mat. Trim the Cricut mat in just the 12 x 12 area. From the back, line up the cricut 12 x 12 and tape it to inside the frame you created by cutting your BSC…using clearing packing tape. The tape should not extend into any area that the side rollers pull into the machine and you don’t want any of the clear tape to fold over to the front of the mat. Clear as mud? Look for BSC hacks.
