- 200% is 100% item collection + 100% log book scan
completion. Run time/info below:
Dolphin 5.0-17269 || 11,139 rerecords
The entire run synced from start to finish. Needless to say we have a revision that isn't 8 years old should someone decide to make a more optimized TAS in the future.
IGT: 1:07:49.217
Some of the scan timings and route decisions could have been better (see: Hunter Metroid), but I'm happy with how it turned out.
Seeing no-one mention that reflected Charge Shot off the door blockade during the Incinerator Drone fight to kill an off-screen War Wasp at 12:34, that's the best part of the run right there
maaan i was like WTF did happend??? so cool haha
Lore accurate Samus
What this tas taught me;
1. Spider ball is optional.
2. Grapple beam is optional.
3. Saving is for wimps, low health is where it’s at.
Maybe soon enough morph ball is optional haha
If saving is for wimps I guess I’m a wimp lol
The only hit point that matters is the last!
Finally a decent Scan Everything + 100% TAS
Agreed! I love the scans and wish they got more attention, especially since a decent number of non-bosses become inaccessible after a while. Ice Shriekbats disappear after you kill Thardus, for some reason.
@@Anonie324I love the MP games scans, sams reason I love subnautica. Games that let you scan everything and get meaningful lore and data on the environnement for gameplay purposes are amazing at immersion.
I think that my favorite thing about the remaster is that doors are almost instantaneous now.
but you can't scan dash soooo poop
@@Zerog41612 That doesn't really bother me. I never knew about it when I played the game as a kid and getting the double jump early is nice, but I'm not really into sequence breaking.
@@mathewhaight Agreed. The demo was mesmorizing when it came out, let alone the game. I picked up the remaster and tried some of these sequence breaks on the boots. Clearly I'm ass I never succeeded. And I'm okay with that xD
There’s actually a strategy that was just exploited in the remaster and you can get the space jump boots early
I just watched your 2:22 100% run, which was amazing to watch. Now i get to watch this awesome TAS.
I can’t believe how well this game still looks after two decades!!
I love how you finished scanning Essence during it's death animation.
The best speed-through of Prime 1 I've ever seen. Can't wait to see you do this for Prime 4
Prime 4, indeed.
This was one of my first and favorite video games ever
I've seen some OoB TAS runs for Any%
There were still so many moments that left my mouth hanging open or me having to say "That's so cool"
Additional, as someone who decides to not use Thermal or X-Ray visors for the "fun" of it, the Thardus fight certainly scratched an itch of mine
Fantastic work, had me yelling at the screen "YOU CAN'T DO THAT" more times than most TASs, lmao.
TAS: I'm not cheating, I'm so happened to be what you call a god at this game.
Omg the trickshot on the warwasp during the bombs boss...
That was pretty insane
Been doing my own playthrough of MP for the first time in a while and have been watching a whole bunch of speedruns. Incorporated some sequence breaks in this run and getting the plasma beam early is a game changer.
I just gotta say, the prime gravity suit is just the coolest suit ever. See lots of it in this video. Wish they never changed samus' design, prime 1 suits are the best samus has ever looked.
Brings back old memorise, I remember playing like this back in the day, I can't do it as good now my muscle memory not as good
40:05 that was so smooth it made me mad
easily one of the coolest tricks in the run
It is beautiful this tas and also gives quite a few ideas to play the game
Nice TAS of an interesting category! Really enjoyed seeing the strats, and the boost ball movement options were fun to watch. Also, that was an interesting way of getting early Wild at 18:30 Seemed very fast compared to the IBJ. Is it TAS only, or are there some chances of RTA viability?
It's possible to be done by human (I did it in real time while making this TAS) but it's not really viable in a run setting
Thanks for pointing that out. I've never seen that either. I'm kind of surprised actually. I vaguely remember somebody figuring out a ridiculous bombjump for spiderless wild before the bomb ladder early wild was discovered. I wonder if what he did here was tried in the early days first or?
I'm reminiscing to like ~2006 when 24% was the lowest % haha
I'm playing this game for the first time and I keep running in circles. The idea that this could be done in under two hours is mind-blowing.
Your skills are so so glamorous
I can smell the rng manipulation from here/pos
Just realized how really dumb the Space Pirates were to leave their distress beacon on when the last thing they could’ve wanted was attention from outsiders like Samus.
One of the few games I wish was Remade with HD graphics and Ported to PC
You can rip a disc using a soft modded compatible Wii, then use dolphin-emu to render at 3x+ resolution with HD texture packs. Darned close!
Also, Primehack is useful for mouse/keyboard input with the Wii Trilogy collection.
@@Redmage913 yo! I downloaded this version, but am I crazy or does scan dashing not work on there? i tried configuring a ps4 remote
@@kezo_fps scan dashing only works on the very first version of the gamecube game. if you have any revisions past zero, scan dashing has been patched.
I have 50% of good news for you...
Stop being poor and get a Switch.
Oh my gosh the in game timer at the end...
1:26:49 I thought you were a goner, that space pirate was cooking you up 😁
the rhythm at around 29:00 minutes in works REALLY well with the song that plays
Amazing xD Samus in the lore be like
Pretty cool 200% No Out of Bounds TAS, but someone will definitely beat your record
Oh thank goodness you got the missile launcher, otherwise all those missile expansions would have had nothing to be fired out of...wait...
My headcannon is that every metroid game TAS exists because Samus is just doing the same 8 or so jobs all the time since Metroid just keep returning.
Bro... He Is just on another level🔥🔥🔥❤️🥵
That was interesting how you went back up to the Flaaghra room. Normally people fall on those eye things and slowly bomb jump up. Is what you did a new RTA-viable timesave or is it not feasible for speedruns?
Kinda bummed that 200% doesn't seem to be an official category for this game, because I recently completed a 5:08 on Hard. If it was a category, then I'd do a proper run with no resets/quits.
スキャンと横ステップによるぶっ飛びがずるすぎるw
using the base of the save station as a ramp to boost ball into the pipe above the ground is such swag
Grapple Beam like: "am i a joke to you?"
That Elite fight went by like a blur. I don’t even know how you landed the final hit on him lmfao!
space pirates are so considerate
29:24 How did you boost after bomb-jumping? I thought using bomb-jumps interrupted boost?
Getting hit by a bomb does cancel/reset the boost charging timer, but as long as you're still holding B it will start charging again right away. Then I simply I used the wall as a surface to boost on
How this guy can do this? I was in disbelieve the whole video.
now that the remaster is out... methinks it's time to see if this TAS works on it >:3
It would be alot closer to the wii port id say so a few of the movement technechs might not work
Is "missing" the grapple point in Frigate Escape actually faster than just doing the normal swing across?
Yep, it hits the load trigger for the next room a little sooner
@@JustinDM mind = blown. There are still so many things in this game that surprise me, even as long as I've been speedrunning it.
What's with the map check at 9:39?
Bro, I could never speedrun like this lmfao
Samus was in a HURRY
Samus would be OP in Smash if she had her canon abilities
a lot of characters would be overpowered in smash with their full ability set. makes me kinda want a game with exactly that, just to see what kind of shenanigans would go down
I kinda just wanna see the Speed Booster and Space Jump be better represented is all.
Maybe even the Screw Attack as a more traditional attack.
Hey nice TAS. Do you plan on submitting this to TASVideos?
wow impressive.
A run dedicated to Prime Samus' most overpowered ability, cmon, that's hardly even a handicap!
Wait, doesnt a pile of debris usually block the door for plasma beam? 42:45
1:17:33
Nice.
What IGT FROM FINISH ?
why is no one talking about the Meta Ridley fight? there's some strat i've never seen where samus just boosts into ridley after he lands when he loses his wings, and he's already like a quarter of life left 1:33:20
I was wondering about that too. I have no idea what happened there
😎👌🏽
A elevator. Bruh !
1:14:02
Energy 30 or under is low
???
that ball do b boosting tho
Is this the gamecube? If so, what inputs are needed to shoot missiles at even close to that speed?
Yep, gamecube version. What I do is hold up the on the c-stick while firing the missiles. This makes the arm cannon immediately close allowing another missile to be fired.
It was always this way in prime. You dont even need the C-stick to do it to a lesser degree. Everytime you fire a missle immediatly press the power beam fire button, it instantly closes the arm canon, you just alternate between the 2 buttons as fast as you can to fire missles at high speed. It even exists to some degree in the Remaster. It only works with the power beam though, not other beams.
@@MrKevin486 the best part is that Nintendo knows about it, they intentionally left it in
i just downloaded primehack wii trilogy on my pc, and i dont think scan dashing is possible on that version, any tips on what i should download?
Primehack should have some built in options to restore things like the scan dash, did you check the settings?
@@Salron_ yeah I checked it a few hours after I left that comment and found the solution ! Thanks !
Piracy😎
@@totallynotaferret piracy rocks 🤓
That’s not 200% dude that’s 100%.
Wait, WTF is going on most of the time??
Does scanning cause a glitch while moving? What's causing them to float everywhere??
While scanning, you can strafe by jumping while going to left/right. It's much faster since you get max momentum and when you release the scan you keep that momentum for a bit. Its easily doable when playing normally too.(sadly not in the remaster)
@@chariot2523
That's freaking crazy. lol
@@chariot2523 not in the remaster eh? And I was wondering if this could be done there lol
Just in gamecube I assume?
@@eonflutehza131 sadly yes

Anime avatar- yep it checks out.
That's kinda gay ngl...
TAS???????????? HOW LONG DID THIS TAKE
TAS (this is boring) 12:31
Ah yes. Metroid prime. Or "The attack of the killer Yo-yo"
why is it called 200% and not 100%? did you do it on normal 100% and then on hard 100%?
From the description: "200% is 100% item collection + 100% log book scan"
wait, 200%?
like 100% for scans and 100% for items?
Yes
Yep, most runs when they say 100% for Metroid Prime, they only mean item pickups and completely ignore about scans
Why is there an existing save file here? What purpose would it serve?
Bit late, but I think it's for skipping cutscenes. Prime allows you to skip (some) cutscenes you have seen before, and I assume it checks that internally via safe files.
@@Kuganurio1994 Oh that makes sense, I've pretty much never ended up replaying Prime on the same platform as a previous run so I didn't know, I woulda figured it'd be attached to a system save though, similar to the Link bonuses
i just realized the phazon suit is basically the corruption suit, but better. why don't they just reverse engineer the omega pirate, recreate the scenario that birthed the phazon suit, then use that instead of that scrap suit the federation tried to make
Is that scan jump possible irl?
Yes
Every single Zoomer in the game: "Guess I'm not fast enough"
Monster speed run got'dang
definitely missed a missile in chozo ruins. and you didn't scan the invis pirate at start of pirate outpost that had broken cloak.
1:28:30 Shadow Pirate scan. I'm curious which missile I missed in Chozo
@@JustinDM as far as i can say, you missed the missile´s in the starting room but you showed me a new missile pack that i never have found. you are the first one who gathered this missile pack in the room where the charge beam was. btw nice run how long do you need to input all this for TAS?
@@JustinDM sorry need to correct my last post you have missed not one missile pack.
Cheater
What a waste
