Tesla is the best car company ever! The most advanced technology! No maintenance, no gas stations, no smog checks, no oil changes, #1 in reliability, #1 in cost of ownership, quiet and 0-60 in 2.9 seconds like a $700,000 Lamborghini.
Notice that Musk came after Yellen and Blinken, and got super star treatment... This definitely highlights the difference in status between the USA Gov't's reputation and Musk's.. To me this is the most important take away of these trips...
The Chinese government understands the fundamentals step change with autonomy and with the pursuit of their agenda, not without greed, to supercede the Western by whatever means. The West are stuck with internal bigotry and self interest and goes against what could proven to be revolutionary.

Ive seen so much negativity about FSD, it really is an extraordinary advance already and we can see the improvement coming quickly. There is no competition for this, from anyone. There are others trying but they just dont have the scale. Amazing technological advance by Tesla.
Imagine if, Tesla worked with a "Small Aircraft Manufacturer" (maybe "Pipistrel"?) and had them install a set of Cameras, on their Aircraft, installed a Tesla "Inference Engine" into them, and started developing a "FSF" System! (Full Self Flying)
In 4-5 Years, based on what has already gone *on, with their cars, they could develop an Exceptional Flight Enhancement System!
Even "Instrument Rated Pilots" could benefit from an "Intelligent Flight Control System" (Better than Boeing 737 Max 800 system!), and, a time would come, when, even less than now, Pilots are just "There to make Passengers But Tickets!" 😲

After the pay for the DOJO supercomputer,and the 2.1 billions in buying aditional chips from Nvidia. After all that all icome is almost free.
Thanks, great analysis. I'm in rural America and just completing my free FSD month in my 2023 Model Y LR. It has handled small town, Interstate, and country road driving with few interventions. Impressive decisionmaking in a variety of situations, some issues with hard rain visibility.
The FSD will work NOT only in every place on earth, but even on MARS 😂❤😂
still needs data for it to be trained...; which they have been collecting adn more data for edge cases.
diffrent signboards, languages, different idiosyncracies of driving in different cities etc

Data Gathering has need going on, since the Dual Motor Model S (& Something Else) has been Released!
No one will develop FSD to compete with Tesla, from what I understand Tesla spent at least 10 billion dollars developing FSD, why would any other car manufacturer spend lots of money to develop a competing system when it will be cheaper just to license the software from Tesla. Just like no one ever developed a competing OS to Microsoft, only Apple, that has a small share of the market, Tesla will dominate this market for decades to come.
you put money into AI servers. already 10B by tesla.. another 10B for 2024 . you need data to train... that you cannot buy!! withour which.. what is there to compute?
The compute power is the cheapest part

Already several companies trying FSD folded, and that was even before Tesla had gotten this far, others if not all will fold in the next 5 years or less. And I may add, none of them were even trying what Tesla is doing, vision only.
I have tried FSD for a month, it is smooth, safe, and impressive. It is not perfect, but the day it gets perfect is near because it is progressing with a quick pace

Partnering with a local equivalent of Google Maps is a no brains required solution. Elon is a big brain problem solver. A no brainer type of solution in China. Thanks, good stuff as usual.
Couldn’t agree more. If China and the EU fall to the impressiveness of FSD (Supervised) the game is over. Legacy, waymo etc. will just be left sitting in a rocker on the porch watching the spaceships leaving never to return.

I live in Medellin and the traffic is insane. A never ending flow of scooters and motorcycles splitting lanes. Cars and trucks making their own lanes. If FSD can work here it would be amazing.
I can't wait until it has pre-programmed tours . So if i fly into LA it can take me on a Hollywood tour 🤪

If it can get out from under $200 then and only then can stock holders have a moment to celebrate, catch their breath. How many bought in the mid 2's or more? My cost average is 140. We have been stuck in this rut for 3 years now.
Thoughts on Tesla actually playing a key part in the regulatory regime that will be put in place, that the standards that will be set will be Tesla’s standards, a bar too high for others trying to get in. Bears have been lauding the idea that regulation will be Tesla’s stumbling block when in fact it can possibly be another barrier to entry for everyone.
Good for Tesla, but the European oems have problems 😂 👍
They should get their acts together! Make some good cars (BEV obviously) and license FSD. Maybe BMW is up to it? It will have to be somebody that can charge more for a car with similar specs. I don't think VW is in that position, but Porsche, maybe? Maybe Mercedes could be a small niche brand? Hypercars are only slightly worried about the Roadster. But with Tesla pushing prices down all the time, who is really safe among the regular European large volume brands?

In my opinion, This Elon's move is to force US to recognize the benefits of autonomy, how it will completely tranform transportation globally, in the states before China does. But US will attempt to slow down Tesla through agencies harassment.

Remember that FSD doesn’t have to he perfect, just statistically better than humans. Remember 1.2 million world wide last year.
Unlike aircraft where “we” don’t feel in control so demand perfection cars will be different as “we” feel we can take over.
Once insurance companies realise FSD causes less crash damage that people you will see a premium advantage to non-human driving.
Taxi driving, food delivers and eventually lorry drivers (truckers) look out - your time is coming.
So solving full self driving is hard, because if it was easy, then everyone would already have it don’t cha think?

How does FSD react to an officer or road worker giving directions? If they are going to have fully autonomous vehicles, they need to be able to deal with that.
With enough examples it can handle it like a charm
@@casperhansen826 There are already hints that FSD seems to interpret body language of random pedestrians. Road workers giving clear signals should be simple in comparison.

@@TheSpartan3669 Tiny hints that you kind of need to believe to see. If you watch recent FSD videos, the system seems to predict what pedestrians will do before they do it, and it seems to respond to being waved through. But it CAN be optimism and the tendency to ascribe human-like intelligence to any advanced behavior. Like we do for pets, as an example. On the other hand, this is the kind of thing that might emerge from an AI, so it CAN be the beginnings of something very real.

FSD Driving The "Tail of The Dragon" in the US, and the "Nurburgring" track, will definitely be "Attention Getting events! (If/when it happens!)
But, its basically more important, to be able to "Truck a Tesla" in a Closed Box, to anywhere it has never been, and let it loose and see how FSD handles a "New" place!
So far, except for the "Trucked inside of a closed box", part, that appears to be happening, today, now! With darn good results!

Just being able to collect and process all that data from the cars in China will massively increase the speed at which FSD progresses, even if the FSD take rate by Chinese drivers is low. I wonder what Tesla will charge for FSD in China? Will the data have to remain in China, or just be used to create a separate FSD for China? If so, that won't help FSD in the US, but it will help secure Tesla's dominance of FSD in China. Will BYD license FSD at some point once it improves enough for true FSD? If so, will BYD use it in the rest of the world? That could hurt Tesla in selling their lower priced models in those places.
China requires Tesla to keep Chinese data in China and process it there.

The investment in FSD is huge. I'm afraid 1st quarter cash flow will slow investment. However, they already have far more compute power. However, they need more.
I wonder how much they will slow down? In particular when 12.4.0.x is rested.
Elon already mentioned that they are no longer computer constrained. The only thing missing is the DATA, which after this deal should not take long. Elon said many years ago that they would need aprox 6B miles to achieve FSD, they're near 2B now and if they can export the data from China 3-3.5B in total?
@@francoischarbonneau9447 Elon noted then they were not compute constrained. But now Tesla is trying to get approval for EU and China. Plus the market will grow (more drivers, more data).
And then Tesla needs to start FSD for UK/India.
Demand for compute will outrun $$$ again soon.
Immediate acceptance of tesla to set up in china and positive and proactive tech towards humane development and sustainable energy is a lesson to rest others
China is the biggest car market period! So whilst MSM and many you tube pundits are focused on whats happening (or not) in Us and Europe it’s China that is critical to Tesla’s future.

So full disclosure, I bought into FSD when it was first initially offered, and the price was 3K. I then watched it increase to 5K, then to 8K, then to 12K, and eventually it went t 15K, and Elon was saying that it could possibly go as high as 100K, and that’s when I knew, I had made a good deal.
So then, I watched it get reduced from 15K to 12K, and now it’s at 8K, and I think it’s still a good deal, and if I had not bought in at 3K, I would still buy in today at 8K, because again it’s still a good deal when you think about where the cost/price could go in the future, because if you’re not driving a Tesla in the future you’re possibly putting yourself, and your family in less than a safe situation, than families that are driving a Tesla car or a car that has Tesla’s technology inside, just like we used to see commercials about Intel inside your computer, and so what I am saying is, that Tesla’s self driving technology will will make Tesla cars safer than any other car on the highway driven by humans.
So I am supremely confident that Tesla will be the first to crack the full self driving/autonomous, driving conundrum, and they may be the only ones to do it, and so having said that, if you’re not driving a Tesla or a car with Tesla’s technology inside, then how do you explain to your loved ones, that their lives were not worth a few thousand bucks more, than the sticker price on a comparable car, without Tesla’s technology inside?
As much of a "fan boy" as I am, my fully paid for FSD-ready European Tesla may go to the great autobahn in the sky with zero compensation for me before I get to do proper FSD drives like we see from San Francisco. All I would be left with is the idea that the money involved somehow helped this amazing project, and that's not nothing. Thankfully I have about one car's worth of shares, as well. 😅

@@theodorehaskins3756 The art of thinking negatively, I guess. If the trusty old Tesla gets in a bad crash and gets totaled in the next year or so, it will not have had the chance to drive a metric meter in FSD, since that is not allowed in Europe.

BYD is just as friendly with Elon as Ford. And Tesla even buys BYD batteries. I don't see why not, except for worries about IP. That could be handled to the extent that they would not have more access than if they bought a Tesla and picked it apart, which they have no doubt done several times, as they should.

I turned my FSD off, my 2023 Tesla during my “free” month from Elon. It worked great in the first two weeks. Then it started to speed up and slow down randomly. My 2021 had this annoying need to tug at the steering wheel frequently, at least with the 2023 FSD I only need to apply a little pressure. FSD is too 8:06 expensive for me and I would only use on the highway. Over 95% of my driving is around town.

You can't just get into a Tesla the first time and engage FSD to take you somewhere -- millions of drivers will need some basic training when they take delivery of a Tesla and want FSD. That's a huge amount of resources doing training.
Training in reality is not needed except foe how to engage and disengage. All taht is in the users manual, but.... maybe there are legar requirements. However no other ev manufacturer is required for the driver to have training after purchasing a car Soo,,,?????
Same thing when smart phones came out. When cars were first introduced, people had to learn how to drive them. Not a big deal.
