    It's sad that China appears happier to appreciate FSD and the technological achievements of Tesla than the US. The only news stories about Tesla in the US, or UK, are negative.

      It's because so many US companies are threatened by Tesla and those companies pay 100s of millions for advertising to different news sites so obviously they have an incentive to display a negative view of Tesla & Musk.

      China is the country that embraces the most technology advancement, that's why you see Huawei and Xiaomi flourishing. If FSD works, that means you can pretty much remove 95% of all labor

    Chinese CEOs respect innovation and quality, they recognize the investment and work needed to overcome the technical challenges faced by a practical FSD. They welcome a tough competitor, a stark contrast to the belligerent self-protectionist stance of legacy automakers. Tesla will probably license FSD to many lesser known Chinese automakers, allowing them to leapfrog ahead in a competitive unforgiving market.

      Exactly! My grandparents were so frugal but they had a TON of money on both sides. I remember my grandfather telling me "you want to make money while you sleep." And I guess that attitude passed down to my dad (RIP), because I remember going to his house one day and I had bought something I really liked, so I wanted to show it to him. So I said "Look at this!
      Isn't it cute? It was on sale...I saved 50%!" My dad replied "Well, if you're spending, you're not saving." Obviously I had no retort, and that has always stuck with me.

    this is really good news - the money is in the software not the hardware. If EM can persuade all the other h/w manufacturers to use his s/w then he doesn't even need to build his own h/w. Furthermore, this may prevent them from bothering to continue to work on their own FSD solutions allowing Tesla to further increase their lead. It may also take market from Nvidia as Tesla FSD will require Tesla h/w 3+ in all the compatible cars... And all this money and experience can be tipped into where the real game is - Optimus.

    I remember when Giga casting was announced, you and Tesla pumpers said “game over” for other EV maker.
    The same when 4680 Giga factory was announced.
    The same when Tesla planned $25,000 M2.
    All three had failed.
    Tesla was forced to pivot to AI, FSD and robotaxis.
    How long before they fail?
    China BYD has displaced Tesla in a matter of four years, it will do that again to Tesla FSD in shorter time span.
    Tesla is not the only game in town.

    • @davidbeppler3032
      @davidbeppler3032 16 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Wait.. when did giga casting fail? It has made Model 3, Y, and Cybertruck 20% cheaper to build and 2x as fast!
      4680 batteries are in Cybertruck that is being produced at a run rate of over 1k a week! Fastest selling truck on the market.
      The $25k M2 does not exist, so how did it fail? It was announced, not built yet. Why? Because GM and Ford stopped building EVs at all.
      Robotaxi was announced back in 2015. Not sure where you have been. It has not failed either, it has not been released yet.
      FSD is a huge success. It has saved hundreds of lives and thousands of accidents.
      China BYD is not profitable. BYD is not spending $10 billon this year on compute. BYD has build quality and fire issues.
      Tesla is the only game in town that consumers win at.

    • @Kukaboora
      @Kukaboora 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@davidbeppler3032
      Giga casting was supposed to overwhelm other EV makers in numbers of cheap EVs, had it happened? Tesla is much more expensive than car built by BYD and now Geely.
      Giga casting was supposed to build $25,000 M2, had it happened? The best will be the striped down M3, and it will not be $25,000.
      According to Reuters, Tesla now abandoning Giga casting.
      4680 battery, where is it now? Tesla keeps buying battery from CATL and BYD. The Giga 4680 factories are supposed to supply battery for all Tesla models according to vertical integration principles. Where are 4680 and where is vertical integration?
      Robotaxis were speculated and hyped since the beginning but Tesla only pivoted to it after the sale of Tesla went down especially in China and Europe. The writing is on the wall that Tesla is pushed to the margin of producing high end EVs.
      With the criminal charge on false advertising of FSD by the DOJ and recent investigation by NHSTA on the Tesla Auto Pilot, do not bet on robotaxis in a near term. It is at least three years away.
      The Optimus folding a shirt? It was tele-operated by a human.
      Need I say more?

    Driving in China is VERY different to in other countries. For example, traffic going straight at lights gives way to turning traffic in the opposite direction. Perhaps this isn't how it is supposed to be as per rules of the road (I don't know), but that's how it is in practice.
    There are similar differences between other countries - eg the UK has a 'keep left' rule on motorways, so there's no "undertaking", or "middle lane hogging". That's different to other countries. I wonder what happens with a FSD car going over the boarder between countries with different rules. Theoretically, it might improve the situation since it can more easily adapt, but it does need to know about the differences.

      @davidmaxwaterman The Dojo supercomputer will generate a Chinese FSD version using the millions of hours of video footage being recorded by the close to 2 million Tesla cars driving around in China. It will pick up their mannerisms. This is why having a staff of human coders customizing quirks for every country is not the correct solution.

      @@someuser7501 I wouldn't be surprised if select staff in China and Germany have been secretly testing their own versions of fsd for months or years in Chinese and German roads. It's hard to believe that China gave approval for fsd last week, someone at Tesla flips the fsd switch, and fsd turns out to be good enough to impress an auto company CEO, all in the course of one week.

    • @N1rOx
      @N1rOx 16 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      It doesn't need to know the difference at all. It will simply be trained on a dataset specific to that country, with that version of FSD being applied to cars in that nation.

    Here's how I picture their position: People tend to have strong feelings about what car they own, but not about what cars they hail rides in. If Xiaomi and Xpeng license Tesla's software stack and are acceptable as taxis, suddenly they can be the fleet cars of China. Just like the London government regulates who builds London taxis, the Beijing government can just give a contract to Xpeng to do the whole city. Electric cars, much like smartphones, are basically just an assembly of standard hardware. The software is what really affects the user experience, and that's something they can license. Beijing can dictate the ride prices in such a way that everyone can skim a bit off the top, and there's still enough money to pay for the FSD license. Ten years from now, they hope to have a home-grown FSD that works well enough to ditch Tesla, much like Huawei ditched Google domestically.

    I just finished my free one month of Supervised FSD. It is amazing but very unnerving. I don’t see much advantage over the standard autopilot. It’s a bit scary heading to an intersection and putting full faith in the car that it will stop. BTW it’s called Supervised FSD now. If it’s supervised it’s not FSD.

    • @someuser7501
      @someuser7501 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @lawrenceasero2207 What? Autopilot is designed mostly for highways why would you even want to attempt to drive it on local roads with intersections??? Meanwhile I just finished my FSD and found it amazing on local roads and I found it to be excellent and comfortable at intersections. If however I was using Autopilot on locals I'd probably be having a heart attack at intersections.

    • @lawrenceasero2207

      I don’t use Autopilot other than the highway. I guess I wasn’t clear. Supervised FSD is an oxymoron. I will admit it was amazing how well it navigated a number of situations but I don’t have as much faith as you. There were a few situations where it got confused or sat behind a car where I would have gone around. Can’t see paying for it and don’t see robotaxis anytime soon.

      I use fsd everyday and it's been amazing. It's like monitoring a 16 year old being the driver and stepping in if mistakes are being made. On that note, the term supervised FSD isn't an oxymoron unless you imply that FSD must mean it's flawless. I think that a 90% effective fsd is already a huge improvement in quality of life.

    Right up until traffic doesn't behave in one of the billions of solutions they use to train the system. People keep overlooking it so they can have a new toy. Just yesterday I saw yet another report in the US where a young man turned on self driving I believe beta(or not) and ran over a motorcyclist on the freeway. He turned it on and started watching his phone. When interviewed by the cops he apparently said "oh it's ok I turned on the self driving before I watched my phone". He literally admitted to the actions he took and so is going to be tried for murder. Of course it was everyone else's fault that he killed a motorcyclist. According to everyone rich enough to afford a Tesla, they don't have to drive anymore. Video after video of them not using or even resting on the controls in case of a problem.
    We are just so oblivious as a species. I mean to think that a toy is more important than a life. Humans suck. Eat the rich, make a better world.

    the new FSD bascically happen after elon woke up when chat gpt made world headline end of 2022, he finally realized what Tesla should do to get it right. LLM are commodities, already tens of competitors in the space, even open source models with multi modal abilities. I think Tesla OS and UI is surprisingly the most competitive product Tesla had made so far. there will be tens of assisted conduct softwares in the years to come for companies to license, Tesla advantage will remain system integration, not the FSD itself

    • @someuser7501
      @someuser7501 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Tesla's headstart is having a system in place watching millions of Tesla owners driving even when not in FSD mode. When it detects you doing something successfully that it can't figure out it flags the video and sends it to a server to be used to create a new rule. This real world edge case grabbing is what will make it better than most other systems that rely on just computer simulations generating random scenarios for rule generation.

    I think if Tesla keep calling their system FULL SELF DRIVING many buyers will believe & not monitor the car
    Also you will find monitoring drivers wil lose their concentration after a couple of hours & not be ready to take over if the car if necessary, their reaction time will be slowed.
    Also if there is a sudden incident where the only choices are a crash or a worse crash will the car do what you want, a lot of years ago I only saved my life was do a 180 degree spin & hit the overturned semi going backwards.
    I wonder if a FSD car would allow it.

    • @AKJammer1
      @AKJammer1 17 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      You obviously don’t have have a Tesla.
      1. It’s called Full Self Driving (Supervised). Before it was called Beta, now it’s supervised. Both terms means it needs to be monitored.
      2. There are cameras continually monitoring the driver to ensure the are paying attention. You can’t look at your phone, look away from the road, fall asleep, or even let go of the wheel for any length of time without the system giving you alerts and warning you that it’ll cut off. BTW, if you have an episode )diabetic, heart attack, stroke) while driving and don’t respond to the nags it will cut off, then drive you to the side of the road and park itself safely.
      3. The car can react much faster than you can and steer correctly out of spins and other odd issues. It can see in 360 degrees and react accordingly unlike us meat bags.
      Will there be accidents and deaths with FSD when it’s fully deployed and no longer Supervised? Of course. But the number of people killed on the roads will be greatly reduced. The goal is to get as close to zero as possible, but it’ll never truly get there.

    This is why Elon Musk is doubling down on autonomous technology. Presently under test in America a fully autonomous semi. The self-driving semi, fitted with 25 laser, radar and camera sensors, is owned by Pittsburgh-based Aurora Innovation. This year Aurora plans to start hauling freight on Interstate 45 between the Dallas and Houston areas with 20 driverless trucks, presently Tesla are struggling to finish the Pepsi order for 100 Semis which are not driverless. Then of cause there is Waymo, which is owned by Google's parent company, Alphabet with robotaxi. Phoenix, San Francisco and Austin are currently the only cities where the public can hail a driverless robotaxi, but that list could grow by a dozen or more within the next year. The other technology companies have caught up or surpassed Tesla’s position on autonomous technology, hence the urgency.
