    My family and I had a shiba for 17 years! She was an angel. She’s been gone about a year and a half now and I still find her fur in my apartment, which, she had never even been in 🥲 always bittersweet when one pops up!

    I watched so many of your videos before getting my Shiba (Momo) from a reputable breeder. I went and flew to a different state in the US to get her and it was worth every cent. She sits, stays, lays down, and is very polite to other dogs since I have constantly been taking her to the dog park to give her a social life. you have been a true part of what I do to ensure that my shiba grows up happy and healthy.

    My shiba is 9 months old, so she's still maturing. She demands to be let out to pee at sun rise and will chew on my feet until I get up and let her out. She also gets the zoomies after her morning walk. She's very territorial as well and gets mad at birds that hang out on our balcony or when people walk by our appartment door. She tries to play with every dog she meets, but will run away and hide if a dog growls at her or is aggressive. She likes taking naps, but when she wants to play she will bark at me paw at me if I ignore her.

    It’s so funny hearing about Jimmy liking blueberries and carrots! My Shiba girl loves carrots and blueberries too she also goes crazy for celery and apples. Sometimes prefers them over her own meat based foods 😝

    Our Shiba Hazel is the best lil girl. She sounds a lot like Jimmy…very protective but in a quiet way. Hazel rarely barks but other dogs know she’s the alpha. She paces when her favorite humans leave and perks up when she hears the car in the driveway. The best dog ever. ❤

    I can agree with all points.
    My shibe has specific toys, specific food (sometimes he doesn't want it), specific chews and specific treats he prefers above all others.
    If you don't take him out fast enough, he walks around getting into stuff.
    He's also very alert when something seems 'off' and won't leave whatever or whoever it is alone unless I also call attention to what caught his interest.
    Very smart dogs, and they are very loyal yet still individuals. Also, they can be super stubborn. So if you want a dog that listens pretty much every single time and without a treat to offer, a shiba isn't it. Lol

    My Shiba girl scratches (walls, tile floors) to get attention, for food mostly. They are the funniest, quirkiest canines I've ever had. It's Great! 🦊❤ We're going on our 5th Shiba now. Like potato chips, you can never have 'just one'. They are definitely happier when around others of their 'own kind'.
    It took us 5 years with our first boy to realize he was lonely. After we adopted a female, he was changed furever!🐾🦊🦊💞

    When my shiba was young we discovered he didn't need the kennel while we are at work because of change. We bought him a new bed to put in it and then moved the kennel to the other side of the room. We couldn't catch him let alone get him in the kennel. Change is not accepted lol

Its hilarious because everything you said about Jimmy is 100% Bao. Im so curious if Mochi will also be an absolute replica

    we have a Hokkaido dog and I was surprised to see how many things are the same.. exactly the same. Feeding time at our house is 6 PM. It's like she has a built in clock, and comes looking for me right at 6 every day. The walk thing is the same as well. We have lots of options, and Mio decides which way we will go. She loves to mix up the routine. Toys are the same as well. Mio has tons and tons of toys, she doesn't play with any of them very often, but she does have specific ones she likes when the mood to play hits her.

    I live with a Husky and oh boii they are similar! But I have to admit I love the stubbornness! It’s a clear response that I‘m probably doing something wrong in training or that I’m making a bad decision in general. My dog is my companion she knows me better than I do. Also It‘s more rewarding when they listen to you or something worked out in training! I would always choose a stubborn breed over a pleasing one haha

    I spoil my shiba except for when he tries to change routes on me. I think he just wants to keep walking forever. He’s a stubborn guy, but I really love this dog. Shiba’s know their worth and want to be treated like a friend/peer.

    Unless I'm in a hurry, I also let my doggo decide which route he prefers to take on his walks. I'm a human and can go wherever I.choose most days, whereas his choices in life are pretty limited, so I let him go where he wants and just keep him out of trouble. I figure it's HIS walk, not mine.

    Does Jimmy like to dig wholes in the yard? If so, how do you make him stop?

    • @SuperShiba
      @SuperShiba  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes sometimes he likes to dig a bit or scratch our lawn. We keep an eye on him and loudly say “no” or “ah-ah” and he understands that we’re not too pleased about it. Usually would stop or at least pause the undesirable action. The key is to stop it as it happens. If your shiba already got in the habit of digging holes, it might think it’s an okay thing to do, so the consistency and timing becomes more important in our experience :)

  • @Ovader
    @Ovader ปีที่แล้ว +7

    How is Jimmy with you clipping his nails? Are you able to or do you have to go to a groomer? (wondering as I have my own shiba inu at 7 months who is rather hesitant/bitey after 2 accidental cuts into her quick).

    • @LetsShitPost
      @LetsShitPost ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mine is great with nail clipping, but I started early and gave him lots of treats. You could starting off slow by grabbing their feet and giving them treats

    • @cheddartheshibainu3287
      @cheddartheshibainu3287 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try using a grinder instead of a clipper, that might work. I used to clip my shibas nails and didn’t clip him ever but switched over to a grinder because it made me feel better about accidentally clipping too far.

    • @kye698
      @kye698 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely use a grinder. I hold my phone flashlight behind black nails to see the quick as well.

    I would guess Jimmy was reading the body-language of the masked-stranger and picked up on "tense" shape and excessive focus of the person in your direction? Animals are very good at detecting this.

    My shiba is way too smart for her own benefit. She will stop doing things out of spite because she knows I will react to her. She is playful and sometimes aggressive, but when she is outside, she becomes a different dog. She becomes way too timid, I'm trying to fix that. Jimmy is such a good boy

      Sometimes a Shiba Inu mix can be found at the shelter. I got two this way (at different times). One was Shiba/Golden Retriever, the other was Shiba/Sharpei (talk about stubborn!). Both times I was told they were Chow Chow mixes. I only realized after living with them for years that I had a Shiba Inu!

      Well actually no, I own a shiba and I reqocnize that they are really a different breed mostly calmer than most other dogs from surroundings, it's just my opinion
