I will say that West Virginia's state museum is legitimately one of the best I've ever been through. Interactive, educational and simultaneously entertaining. I was born in Charleston and grew up down the road and a lot has grown over the past years since I left. This video just scratches the surface of the Charleston area and doesn't even get into what there is a mere hour away.

Excellent question; best thing in Charleston is the WV Power. Second best thing is the DooWop Car Show, on the boulevard first weekend of October. Neither of which were mentioned in the video.

Charleston, West Virginia, is the only place in America where my wife and I were not served. We stopped by for ice cream in their mall on the way to Philly, and they just stood there, arms crossed. (We're Asian/American). We got the same look from others in the mall. Probably the most unfriendly place we've visited.

I'm so sorry that happened to you, but most of the people are very sweet and sincere. There are bad apples anywhere you go, but southern wva has beautiful folks that will hang and do things with you. Easy to make lifelong friends. Very hospitable, but WAY ECCENTRIC mountain folk! Look out now, because they live different and don't like condescension (not you specifically - anyone ).

I really like living in West Virginia. We have a very diverse population. We have about the same amount of bigotry as anywhere else. It is pretty much non existent in our big cities.

Why is this video so boring?? It didn't really show the city, or what kinds of things there are to do there. This video could have been 100x better with very little effort.
